Proverbs 10
1 The Proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father; but a foolish son is the grief of his mother.
Os provérbios de Salomão. Um filho sábio faz um pai feliz; mas um filho tolo traz tristeza para sua mãe.
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing; but righteousness delivereth from death.
Os tesouros da maldade não lucram nada, mas a retidão se livra da morte.
3 Jehovah suffereth not the soul of the righteous [man] to famish; but he repelleth the craving of the wicked.
Yahweh não vai permitir que a alma dos justos passe fome, mas ele afasta o desejo dos ímpios.
4 He cometh to want that dealeth with a slack hand; but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
Ele se torna pobre que trabalha com a mão preguiçosa, mas a mão do diligente traz riqueza.
5 He that gathereth in summer is a wise son; he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.
Aquele que se reúne no verão é um filho sábio, mas aquele que dorme durante a colheita é um filho que causa vergonha.
6 Blessings are upon the head of a righteous [man]; but the mouth of the wicked covereth violence.
As bênçãos estão na cabeça dos justos, mas a violência cobre a boca dos malvados.
7 The memory of the righteous [man] shall be blessed; but the name of the wicked shall rot.
A memória dos justos é abençoada, mas o nome dos ímpios apodrecerá.
8 The wise in heart receiveth commandments; but a prating fool shall fall.
Os sábios de coração aceitam os mandamentos, mas um tolo falador vai cair.
9 He that walketh in integrity walketh securely; but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
Aquele que caminha sem culpa, certamente caminha, mas aquele que perverte seus caminhos será descoberto.
10 He that winketh with the eye causeth grief, and a prating fool shall fall.
One que pisca com o olho causa tristeza, mas um tolo falador vai cair.
11 The mouth of a righteous [man] is a fountain of life; but the mouth of the wicked covereth violence.
A boca dos justos é uma fonte de vida, mas a violência cobre a boca dos malvados.
12 Hatred stirreth up strifes; but love covereth all transgressions.
O ódio agita a luta, mas o amor cobre todos os males.
13 In the lips of an intelligent [man] wisdom is found; but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
A sabedoria é encontrada nos lábios daquele que tem discernimento, mas uma vara é para a parte de trás daquele que não tem entendimento.
14 The wise lay up knowledge; but the mouth of the fool is near destruction.
Os sábios colocam o conhecimento, mas a boca do tolo está perto da ruína.
15 The rich man's wealth is his strong city; the destruction of the poor is their poverty.
A riqueza do homem rico é sua cidade forte. A destruição dos pobres é sua pobreza.
16 The labour of a righteous [man] [tendeth] to life; the revenue of a wicked [man], to sin.
O trabalho dos justos leva à vida. O aumento dos ímpios leva ao pecado.
17 Keeping instruction is the path to life; but he that forsaketh reproof goeth astray.
He está no caminho da vida quem presta atenção à correção, mas aquele que abandona a repreensão, desvia os outros.
18 He that covereth hatred hath lying lips, and he that sendeth forth a slander is a fool.
Aquele que esconde o ódio tem lábios mentirosos. Aquele que profere uma calúnia é um tolo.
19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; but he that restraineth his lips doeth wisely.
Na multidão de palavras não falta desobediência, mas aquele que refreia seus lábios faz sabiamente.
20 The tongue of the righteous [man] is [as] choice silver; the heart of the wicked is little worth.
A língua dos justos é como a prata escolhida. O coração dos ímpios tem pouco valor.
21 The lips of a righteous [man] feed many; but fools die for want of understanding.
Os lábios dos justos alimentam muitos, mas os tolos morrem por falta de compreensão.
22 The blessing of Jehovah, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow to it.
A bênção de Yahweh traz riqueza, e ele não lhe acrescenta nenhum problema.
23 It is as sport to a foolish [man] to do wickedness; but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
É um prazer tolo fazer a maldade, mas a sabedoria é o prazer de um homem de entendimento.
24 The fear of a wicked [man], it shall come upon him; but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
O que o medo maligno os ultrapassará, mas o desejo dos justos será concedido.
25 As a whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no [more]; but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
Quando o redemoinho passa, o mal já não é mais; mas os justos permanecem firmes para sempre.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.
Como vinagre até os dentes e como fumaça até os olhos, Assim é o preguiçoso para aqueles que o enviam.
27 The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
O medo de Yahweh prolonga os dias, mas os anos dos ímpios devem ser encurtados.
28 The hope of the righteous is joy; but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
A perspectiva dos justos é a alegria, mas a esperança dos ímpios perecerá.
29 The way of Jehovah is strength to the perfect [man], but destruction to the workers of iniquity.
O caminho de Yahweh é um refúgio para os verticais, mas é uma destruição para os trabalhadores da iniqüidade.
30 The righteous [man] shall never be moved; but the wicked shall not inhabit the land.
Os justos nunca serão removidos, mas os ímpios não vão habitar na terra.
31 The mouth of a righteous [man] putteth forth wisdom; but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
A boca dos justos produz sabedoria, mas a língua perversa será cortada.
32 The lips of a righteous [man] know what is acceptable; but the mouth of the wicked is frowardness.
Os lábios dos justos sabem o que é aceitável, mas a boca dos malvados é perversa.
