Philemon 1
1 Paul, prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timotheus the brother, to Philemon the beloved and our fellow-workman,
Paul, prisonnier du Christ Jésus, et Timothée, son frère, à Philémon, notre bien-aimé et notre coopérateur,
2 and to the sister Apphia and to Archippus our fellow-soldier, and to the assembly which [is] in thine house.
Et à Appia, notre sœur très chère, et à Archippe, le compagnon de nos combats, et à l’Eglise qui est dans ta maison:
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and [the] Lord Jesus Christ.
Grâce à vous, et paix par Dieu notre Père, et par Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
4 I thank my God, always making mention of thee at my prayers,
Faisant sans cesse mémoire de toi dans mes prières, je rends grâces à mon Dieu,
5 hearing of thy love and the faith which thou hast towards the Lord Jesus, and towards all the saints,
En apprenant la foi que tu as dans le Seigneur Jésus-Christ, et ta charité pour tous les Saints;
6 in such sort that thy participation in the faith should become operative in the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in us towards Christ [Jesus].
En sorte que ta participation à la foi est manifeste par la connaissance de tout le bien qui se fait parmi vous en Jésus-Christ.
7 For we have great thankfulness and encouragement through thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.
Car j’ai ressenti une grande joie et une grande consolation, envoyant, ô mon frère, combien tu as soulagé les cœurs des saints.
8 Wherefore having much boldness in Christ to enjoin thee what is fitting,
C’est pourquoi, bien que ayant en Jésus-Christ une entière liberté de t’ordonner ce qui convient,
9 for love's sake I rather exhort, being such a one as Paul the aged, and now also prisoner of Jesus Christ.
Cependant j’aime mieux te supplier par charité, puisque tu es tel que moi le vieux Paul, qui de plus suis maintenant prisonnier de Jésus-Christ;
10 I exhort thee for my child, whom I have begotten in [my] bonds, Onesimus,
Je te conjure donc pour mon fils que j’ai engendré dans mes liens, Onésime,
11 once unserviceable to thee, but now serviceable to thee and to me:
Qui t’a été autrefois inutile, mais qui maintenant est utile et à moi et à toi.
12 whom I have sent back to thee: [but do thou receive] him, that is, my bowels:
Je te le renvoie; reçois-le comme mes entrailles.
13 whom I was desirous of keeping with myself, that for thee he might minister to me in the bonds of the glad tidings;
J’avais eu dessein de le retenir auprès de moi, afin qu’il m’assistât en ta place dans les liens de l’Evangile.
14 but I have wished to do nothing without thy mind, that thy good might not be as of necessity but of willingness:
Mais je n’ai voulu rien faire sans ton avis, afin que ta bonne œuvre ne fût pas comme forcée, mais volontaire.
15 for perhaps for this reason he has been separated [from thee] for a time, that thou mightest possess him fully for ever; (aiōnios g166)
Car peut-être t’a-t-il quitté pour un temps, afin que tu le recouvrasses pour jamais, (aiōnios g166)
16 not any longer as a bondman, but above a bondman, a beloved brother, specially to me, and how much rather to thee, both in [the] flesh and in [the] Lord?
Non plus comme un esclave, mais au lieu d’un esclave, comme un frère très cher, à moi en particulier, mais combien plus encore à toi, et selon la chair, et selon le Seigneur?
17 If therefore thou holdest me to be a partner [with thee], receive him as me;
Si donc tu me considères comme étroitement uni à toi, reçois-le comme moi-même;
18 but if he have wronged thee anything or owe anything [to thee], put this to my account.
Que s’il t’a fait tort, ou s’il te doit quelque chose, impute-le-moi.
19 I Paul have written [it] with mine own hand; I will repay [it]: that I say not to thee that thou owest even thine own self also to me.
C’est moi Paul, qui écris de ma main; c’est moi qui te satisferai; pour ne pas dire que tu te dois toi-même à moi;
20 Yea, brother, I would have profit of thee in [the] Lord: refresh my bowels in Christ.
Oui, mon frère. Que j’obtienne cette jouissance de toi dans le Seigneur; ranime mes entrailles dans le Seigneur.
21 Being confident of thine obedience, I have written to thee, knowing that thou wilt do even more than I say.
Confiant en ta soumission, je t’écris, sachant que tu feras même plus que je ne dis.
22 But withal prepare me also a lodging; for I hope that I shall be granted to you through your prayers.
Prépare-moi aussi un logement, car j’espère, par tes prières, t’être bientôt rendu.
23 Epaphras salutes thee, my fellow-prisoner in Christ Jesus;
Epaphras, prisonnier comme moi pour le Christ Jésus, te salue,
24 Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow-workmen.
Ainsi que Marc, Aristarque, Démas et Luc, mes auxiliaires.
25 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with your spirit.
Que la grâce de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ soit avec votre esprit. Amen.
