Philemon 1
1 Paul, prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timotheus the brother, to Philemon the beloved and our fellow-workman,
Paul, prisonnier de Jésus-Christ, et Timothée, notre frère, à Philémon, notre bien-aimé compagnon de travail,
2 and to the sister Apphia and to Archippus our fellow-soldier, and to the assembly which [is] in thine house.
à la bien-aimée Apphia, à Archippe, notre compagnon d'armes, et à l'assemblée qui est dans votre maison:
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and [the] Lord Jesus Christ.
Grâce et paix à vous de la part de Dieu notre Père et du Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
4 I thank my God, always making mention of thee at my prayers,
Je rends toujours grâces à mon Dieu, en faisant mention de toi dans mes prières,
5 hearing of thy love and the faith which thou hast towards the Lord Jesus, and towards all the saints,
en entendant parler de ton amour et de la foi que tu as pour le Seigneur Jésus et pour tous les saints,
6 in such sort that thy participation in the faith should become operative in the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in us towards Christ [Jesus].
afin que la communion de ta foi devienne efficace dans la connaissance de tout bien qui est en nous dans le Christ Jésus.
7 For we have great thankfulness and encouragement through thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.
Car nous avons beaucoup de joie et de réconfort dans votre amour, parce que les cœurs des saints ont été rafraîchis par vous, frère.
8 Wherefore having much boldness in Christ to enjoin thee what is fitting,
C'est pourquoi, bien que j'aie en Christ toute la hardiesse de vous ordonner ce qui est convenable,
9 for love's sake I rather exhort, being such a one as Paul the aged, and now also prisoner of Jesus Christ.
je préfère, par amour, faire appel à vous, étant un tel Paul, âgé, mais aussi prisonnier de Jésus-Christ.
10 I exhort thee for my child, whom I have begotten in [my] bonds, Onesimus,
J'en appelle à vous pour mon fils Onésime, que j'ai engendré dans mes chaînes,
11 once unserviceable to thee, but now serviceable to thee and to me:
qui autrefois vous était inutile, et qui maintenant vous est utile, à vous et à moi.
12 whom I have sent back to thee: [but do thou receive] him, that is, my bowels:
Je vous le renvoie. Recevez-le donc, c'est-à-dire mon propre cœur,
13 whom I was desirous of keeping with myself, that for thee he might minister to me in the bonds of the glad tidings;
que j'ai voulu garder avec moi, afin qu'il me serve en votre faveur dans mes chaînes pour la Bonne Nouvelle.
14 but I have wished to do nothing without thy mind, that thy good might not be as of necessity but of willingness:
Mais je ne voulais rien faire sans votre consentement, afin que votre bonté ne soit pas comme une nécessité, mais comme une volonté libre.
15 for perhaps for this reason he has been separated [from thee] for a time, that thou mightest possess him fully for ever; (aiōnios g166)

16 not any longer as a bondman, but above a bondman, a beloved brother, specially to me, and how much rather to thee, both in [the] flesh and in [the] Lord?
non plus comme un esclave, mais plus qu'un esclave, un frère bien-aimé, pour moi surtout, mais combien plus pour vous, dans la chair et dans le Seigneur.
17 If therefore thou holdest me to be a partner [with thee], receive him as me;
Si donc vous me considérez comme un associé, recevez-le comme vous me recevriez.
18 but if he have wronged thee anything or owe anything [to thee], put this to my account.
Mais s'il vous a fait du tort ou s'il vous doit quelque chose, mettez cela sur mon compte.
19 I Paul have written [it] with mine own hand; I will repay [it]: that I say not to thee that thou owest even thine own self also to me.
Moi, Paul, j'écris ceci de ma propre main: Je te le rendrai (sans te dire que tu me dois aussi ta propre personne).
20 Yea, brother, I would have profit of thee in [the] Lord: refresh my bowels in Christ.
Oui, frère, laisse-moi me réjouir de toi dans le Seigneur. Rafraîchis mon cœur dans le Seigneur.
21 Being confident of thine obedience, I have written to thee, knowing that thou wilt do even more than I say.
Ayant confiance en votre obéissance, je vous écris, sachant que vous ferez même au-delà de ce que je dis.
22 But withal prepare me also a lodging; for I hope that I shall be granted to you through your prayers.
Préparez aussi une chambre d'hôte pour moi, car j'espère que, grâce à vos prières, je pourrai vous être rendu.
23 Epaphras salutes thee, my fellow-prisoner in Christ Jesus;
Épaphras, mon compagnon de captivité en Jésus-Christ, vous salue,
24 Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow-workmen.
ainsi que Marc, Aristarque, Démas et Luc, mes compagnons de travail.
25 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with your spirit.
La grâce de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ soit avec votre esprit. Amen.
