Numbers 1
1 And Jehovah spoke to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai in the tent of meeting, on the first of the second month, in the second year after their departure from the land of Egypt, saying,

2 Take the sum of the whole assembly of the children of Israel, after their families, according to their fathers' houses, by the number of the names, every male, according to their polls;
« Faites le compte de toute l’assemblée des enfants d’Israël, selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, en comptant par tête le nom de tous les mâles
3 from twenty years and upward, all that go forth to military service in Israel: ye shall number them according to their hosts, thou and Aaron.
depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous les hommes aptes à porter les armes en Israël; vous en ferez le dénombrement selon leurs troupes, toi et Aaron.
4 And with you there shall be a man for every tribe, a man who is the head of his father's house.
Il y aura avec vous un homme de chaque tribu, chef de sa maison patriarcale.
5 And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you: for Reuben, Elizur the son of Shedeur;
Voici les noms de ceux qui se tiendront avec vous: Pour Ruben: Elisur, fils de Sédéur;
6 for Simeon, Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai;
pour Siméon: Salamiel, fils de Surisaddaï;
7 for Judah, Nahshon the son of Amminadab;
pour Juda: Nahasson, fils d’Aminadab;
8 for Issachar, Nethaneel the son of Zuar;
pour Issachar: Nathanaël, fils de Suar;
9 for Zebulun, Eliab the son of Helon;
pour Zabulon: Eliab, fils de Hélon;
10 for the children of Joseph: for Ephraim, Elishama the son of Ammihud; for Manasseh, Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur;

11 for Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gideoni;

13 for Asher, Pagiel the son of Ocran;

16 These were those summoned of the assembly, princes of the tribes of their fathers, the heads of the thousands of Israel.
Tels sont ceux qui furent appelés de l’assemblée; ils étaient princes des tribus de leurs pères, chefs des milliers d’Israël.
17 And Moses and Aaron took these men who are expressed by their names,
Moïse et Aaron, ayant pris ces hommes qui avaient été désignés par leurs noms,
18 and gathered the whole assembly together on the first of the second month. And they declared their pedigrees after their families, according to their fathers' houses, by the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, according to their polls.
convoquèrent toute l’assemblée pour le premier jour du deuxième mois. Et ils furent enregistrés selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, en comptant par tête les noms, depuis l’âge de vingt et au-dessus.
19 As Jehovah had commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.
Comme Yahweh l’avait ordonné à Moïse, celui-ci en fit le dénombrement dans le désert de Sinaï.
20 And the sons of Reuben, Israel's eldest son, their generations, after their families, according to their fathers' houses, by the number of the names, according to their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that went forth to military service:
Fils de Ruben, premier-né d’Israël, leurs descendants selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, en comptant les noms par tête, tous les mâles depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous les hommes en état de porter des armes:
21 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Reuben, were forty-six thousand five hundred.
les recensés de la tribu de Ruben furent quarante-six mille cinq cents.
22 Of the sons of Simeon: their generations, after their families, according to their fathers' houses, those that were numbered of them, by the number of the names, according to their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that went forth to military service:
Fils de Siméon, leurs descendants selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, leurs recensés en comptant les noms par tête, tous les mâles depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous les hommes en état de porter les armes:
23 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty-nine thousand three hundred.

24 Of the sons of Gad: their generations, after their families, according to their fathers' houses, by the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that went forth to military service:
Fils de Gad, leurs descendants selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous les hommes en état de porter les armes:
25 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Gad, were forty-five thousand six hundred and fifty.

26 Of the sons of Judah: their generations, after their families, according to their fathers' houses, by the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that went forth to military service:
Fils de Juda, leurs descendants selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous les hommes en état de porter les armes:
27 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Judah, were seventy-four thousand six hundred.

28 Of the sons of Issachar: their generations, after their families, according to their fathers' houses, by the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that went forth to military service:
Fils d’Issachar, leurs descendants selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous les hommes en état de porter les armes:
29 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Issachar, were fifty-four thousand four hundred.

30 Of the sons of Zebulun: their generations, after their families, according to their fathers' houses, by the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that went forth to military service:

31 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Zebulun, were fifty-seven thousand four hundred.

32 Of the sons of Joseph: of the children of Ephraim: their generations, after their families, according to their fathers' houses, by the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that went forth to military service:
Fils de Joseph, — fils d’Ephraïm, leurs descendants selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous les hommes en état de porter les armes:
33 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Ephraim, were forty thousand five hundred.

34 Of the children of Manasseh: their generations, after their families, according to their fathers' houses, by the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that went forth to military service:
— Fils de Manassé, leurs descendants selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous les hommes en état de porter les armes:
35 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Manasseh, were thirty-two thousand two hundred.

36 Of the sons of Benjamin: their generations, after their families, according to their fathers' houses, by the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that went forth to military service:

37 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Benjamin, were thirty-five thousand four hundred.

39 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Dan, were sixty-two thousand seven hundred.

40 Of the sons of Asher: their generations, after their families, according to their fathers' houses, by the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that went forth to military service:
Fils d’Aser, leurs descendants selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, en comptant les noms depuis vingt ans et au-dessus, tous les hommes en état de porter les armes:
41 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Asher, were forty-one thousand five hundred.

42 Of the sons of Naphtali: their generations, after their families, according to their fathers' houses, by the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that went forth to military service:
Fils de Nephtali, leurs descendants selon leurs familles, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, en comptant les noms depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous les hommes en état de porter les armes:
43 those that were numbered of them, of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty-three thousand four hundred.
les recensés de la tribu de Nephtali furent cinquante-trois mille quatre cents.
44 These are those that were numbered, whom Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, the twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers.
Tels sont ceux qui furent recensés, que recensèrent Moïse et Aaron, avec les princes d’Israël, au nombre de douze: un homme pour chacune de leurs maisons patriarcales.
45 And all those that were numbered of the children of Israel, according to their fathers' houses, from twenty years old and upward, all that went forth to military service in Israel,
Tous les enfants d’Israël dont on fit le recensement, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus, tous les hommes d’Israël en état de porter les armes,
46 all they that were numbered were six hundred and three thousand five hundred and fifty.
tous les recensés furent six cent trois mille cinq cent cinquante.
47 But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.
Les Lévites, selon leur tribu patriarcale, ne furent pas recensés avec eux.
48 For Jehovah had spoken to Moses, saying,
Yahweh parla à Moïse, en disant:
49 Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel.
« Tu ne feras pas le recensement de la tribu de Lévi, et tu n’en réuniras pas le compte avec celui des enfants d’Israël.
50 But thou, appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all its vessels; and they shall serve it, and round about the tabernacle shall they encamp;
Remets à leur soin la demeure du témoignage, tous ses ustensiles et tout ce qui lui appartient. Ils porteront la Demeure et tous ses ustensiles, ils en feront le service, et ils camperont autour de la Demeure.
51 and when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down; and when the tabernacle encampeth, the Levites shall set it up; and the stranger that cometh near shall be put to death.
Quand la Demeure partira, les Lévites la démonteront; quand la Demeure campera, les Lévites la dresseront; et l’étranger qui s’en approchera sera puni de mort.
52 And the children of Israel shall encamp every man in his camp, and every man by his own standard, according to their hosts;
Les enfants d’Israël camperont chacun dans son camp, chacun près de sa bannière, selon leurs troupes.
53 but the Levites shall encamp round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there come not wrath upon the assembly of the children of Israel; and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony.
Mais les Lévites camperont autour de la Demeure du témoignage, afin que ma colère n’éclate pas sur l’assemblée des enfants d’Israël; et les Lévites auront la garde de la Demeure du témoignage. »
54 And the children of Israel did so; according to all that Jehovah had commanded Moses, so did they.
Les enfants d’Israël agirent selon tout ce que Yahweh avait ordonné à Moïse; ils firent ainsi.
