Numbers 36
1 And the chief fathers of families of the sons of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of the sons of Joseph, came near, and spoke before Moses, and before the princes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel:
Or, les princes des familles de Galaad, fils de Machir, fils de Manassé, de la race des fils de Joseph, s’approchèrent, parlèrent à Moïse devant les princes d’Israël et dirent:
2 and they said, Jehovah commanded my lord to give the land for an inheritance by lot to the children of Israel; and my lord was commanded by Jehovah to give the inheritance of Zelophehad our brother to his daughters.
C’est à toi qui es notre seigneur, que le Seigneur a ordonné de partager par le sort la terre aux enfants d’Israël, et de donner aux filles de Salphaad, notre frère, la possession due à leur père.
3 Now if they be married to any of the sons of the [other] tribes of the children of Israel, then shall their inheritance be taken from the inheritance of our fathers, and shall be added to the inheritance of the tribe to which they shall belong; and it shall be taken from the lot of our inheritance.
Si des hommes d’une autre tribu les prennent pour femmes, leur possession les suivra, et transférée à une autre tribu, elle sera retranchée de notre héritage:
4 And when the jubilee of the children of Israel shall come, then shall their inheritance be added to the inheritance of the tribe to which they shall belong; and their inheritance shall be taken away from the inheritance of the tribe of our fathers.
Et ainsi il arrivera que, lorsque le jubilé, c’est-à-dire la cinquantième année de la rémission, sera venu, la distribution des sorts sera confondue, et que la possession des uns passera aux autres.
5 And Moses commanded the children of Israel according to the word of Jehovah, saying, The tribe of the sons of Joseph hath said well.
Moïse répondit aux enfants d’Israël, et, le Seigneur ordonnant, il dit: C’est sagement que la tribu des enfants de Joseph a parié:
6 This is the thing which Jehovah hath commanded concerning the daughters of Zelophehad, saying, Let them marry whom they please; only they shall marry one of the tribe of their father,
Et voici la loi sur les filles de Salphaad, promulguée par le Seigneur: Qu’elles épousent ceux qu’elles voudront, mais seulement des hommes de leur tribu;
7 that no inheritance of the children of Israel pass from tribe to tribe; for every one of the children of Israel shall keep to the inheritance of the tribe of his fathers.
Afin que la possession des enfants d’Israël ne se mêle point d’une tribu en une autre. Car tous les hommes prendront des femmes de leur tribu et de leur parenté,
8 And every daughter that possesseth an inheritance among the tribes of the children of Israel, shall be married to one of the family of the tribe of her father, that the children of Israel may possess every one the inheritance of his fathers,
Et toutes les femmes prendront des maris de la même tribu, afin que l’héritage demeure constamment dans les familles,
9 and the inheritance shall not pass from one tribe to another tribe; for each of the tribes of the children of Israel shall keep to his inheritance.
Et que les tribus ne se mêlent point entre elles, mais qu’elles demeurent ainsi
10 Even as Jehovah had commanded Moses, so did the daughters of Zelophehad;
Qu’elles ont été séparées par le Seigneur. Or, les filles de Salphaad firent comme il leur avait été commandé:
11 and Mahlah, Tirzah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Noah, the daughters of Zelophehad, were married unto their uncles' sons.
Et Maala, Thersa, Hégla, Melcha et Noa épousèrent les fils de leur oncle paternel,
12 To those that were of the families of the sons of Manasseh the son of Joseph were they married; and their inheritance remained in the tribe of the family of their father.
De la famille de Manassé, qui fut fils de Joseph; et la possession qui leur avait été assignée, demeura dans la tribu et la famille de leur père.
13 These are the commandments and the ordinances which Jehovah commanded through Moses to the children of Israel, in the plains of Moab, by the Jordan of Jericho.
Tels sont les commandements et les ordonnances que commanda le Seigneur par l’entremise de Moïse aux enfants d’Israël, dans les plaines de Moab, sur le Jourdain, contre Jéricho.
