Nehemiah 9
1 And on the twenty-fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackclothes, and earth upon them.
Am vierundzwanzigsten Tage dieses Monden kamen die Kinder Israel zusammen mit Fasten und Säcken und Erde auf ihnen.
2 And the seed of Israel separated themselves from all foreigners, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.
Und sonderten den Samen Israels von allen fremden Kindern und traten hin und bekannten ihre Sünden und ihrer Väter Missetat.
3 And they stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of Jehovah their God a fourth part of the day; and a fourth part they confessed, and worshipped Jehovah their God.
Und stunden auf an ihrer Stätte; und man las im Gesetzbuch des HERRN, ihres Gottes, viermal des Tages; und sie bekannten und beteten an den HERRN, ihren Gott, viermal des Tages.
4 Then stood up upon the platform of the Levites, Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, Chenani, and cried with a loud voice to Jehovah their God.
Und die Leviten stunden auf in die Höhe, nämlich Jesua, Bani, Kadmiel, Sebanja, Buni, Serebja, Bani und Chenani, und schrieen laut zu dem HERRN, ihrem Gott.
5 And the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabniah, Sherebiah, Hodijah, Shebaniah, Pethahiah, said, Stand up, bless Jehovah your God from eternity to eternity. And let [men] bless the name of thy glory, which is exalted above all blessing and praise.
Und die Leviten, Jesua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hasabenja, Serebja, Hodia, Sebanja, Pethahja, sprachen: Stehet auf, lobet den HERRN, euren Gott, von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit; und man lobe den Namen deiner HERRLIchkeit, der erhöhet ist, mit allem Segen und Lobe.
6 Thou art the Same, thou alone, Jehovah, who hast made the heaven of heavens, and all their host, the earth and all that is therein, the seas and all that is therein. And thou quickenest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.
HERR, du bist's allein; du hast gemacht den Himmel und aller Himmel Himmel mit all ihrem Heer, die Erde und alles, was drauf ist, die Meere und alles, was drinnen ist; du machest alles lebendig, und das himmlische Heer betet dich an.
7 Thou art the Same, Jehovah Elohim, who didst choose Abram and broughtest him forth out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gavest him the name of Abraham;
Du bist der HERR Gott, der du Abram erwählet hast und ihn von Ur in Chaldäa ausgeführt und Abraham genannt
8 and foundest his heart faithful before thee, and madest the covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, — to give it to his seed; and thou hast performed thy words, for thou art righteous.
und sein Herz treu vor dir funden und einen Bund mit ihm gemacht, seinem Samen zu geben das Land der Kanaaniter, Hethiter, Amoriter, Pheresiter, Jebusiter und Girgositer; und hast dein Wort gehalten, denn du bist gerecht.
9 And thou sawest the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heardest their cry by the Red Sea;
Und du hast angesehen das Elend unserer Väter in Ägypten und ihr Schreien erhöret am Schilfmeer
10 and didst shew signs and wonders upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants, and upon all the people of his land; for thou knewest that they dealt proudly against them, and thou didst make thee a name, as it is this day.
und Zeichen und Wunder getan an Pharao und an allen seinen Knechten und an allem Volk seines Landes; denn du erkanntest, daß sie stolz wider sie waren; und hast dir einen Namen gemacht, wie es heute gehet.
11 And thou didst divide the sea before them, and they went through the midst of the sea on dry [ground]; and their pursuers thou threwest into the depths, as a stone into the mighty waters.
Und hast das Meer vor ihnen zerrissen, daß sie mitten im Meer trocken hindurchgingen, und ihre Verfolger in die Tiefe verworfen, wie Steine in mächtigen Wassern,
12 And thou leddest them in the day by a pillar of cloud, and in the night by a pillar of fire, to give them light in the way wherein they should go.
und sie geführet des Tages in einer Wolkensäule und des Nachts in einer Feuersäule, ihnen zu leuchten auf dem Wege, den sie zogen.
13 And thou camest down on mount Sinai, and didst speak with them from the heavens, and gavest them right judgments and true laws, good statutes and commandments.
Und bist herabgestiegen auf den Berg Sinai und hast mit ihnen vom Himmel geredet und gegeben ein wahrhaftig Recht und ein recht Gesetz und gute Gebote und Sitten;
14 And thou madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and prescribedst for them commandments and statutes and a law, through Moses thy servant.
und deinen heiligen Sabbat ihnen kundgetan; und Gebote, Sitten und Gesetze ihnen geboten durch deinen Knecht Mose;
15 And thou gavest them bread from the heavens for their hunger, and broughtest forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and didst say to them that they should go in to possess the land which thou hadst sworn to give them.
und ihnen Brot vom Himmel gegeben, da sie hungerte, und Wasser aus dem Felsen lassen gehen, da sie dürstete; und ihnen geredet, sie sollten hineingehen und das Land einnehmen, darüber du deine Hand hubest, ihnen zu geben.
16 But they, our fathers, dealt proudly, and hardened their neck, and hearkened not to thy commandments,
Aber unsere Väter wurden stolz und halsstarrig, daß sie deinen Geboten nicht gehorchten,
17 and refused to obey, neither were they mindful of thy wonders which thou hadst done among them; but hardened their neck, and in their rebellion made a captain to return to their bondage. But thou art a God ready to forgive, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great loving-kindness, and thou forsookest them not.
und weigerten sich zu hören, und gedachten auch nicht an deine Wunder, die du an ihnen tatest, sondern sie wurden halsstarrig und warfen ein Haupt auf, daß sie sich wendeten zu ihrer Dienstbarkeit in ihrer Ungeduld. Aber du, mein Gott, vergabest und warest gnädig, barmherzig, geduldig und von großer Barmherzigkeit und verließest sie nicht.
18 Yea, when they had made them a molten calf, and said, This is thy god that brought thee up out of Egypt! and they had wrought great provocation,
Und ob sie wohl ein gegossen Kalb machten und sprachen: Das ist dein Gott, der dich aus Ägyptenland geführet hat, und taten große Lästerungen,
19 yet thou in thy manifold mercies forsookest them not in the wilderness. The pillar of the cloud departed not from over them by day, to lead them on the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to shew them light, and the way wherein they should go.
noch verließest du sie nicht in der Wüste nach deiner großen Barmherzigkeit, und die Wolkensäule wich nicht von ihnen des Tages, sie zu führen auf dem Wege, noch die Feuersäule des Nachts, ihnen zu leuchten auf dem Wege, den sie zogen.
20 Thou gavest also thy good Spirit to instruct them, and withheldest not thy manna from their mouth, and gavest them water for their thirst.
Und du gabest ihnen deinen guten Geist, sie zu unterweisen; und dein Man wandtest du nicht von ihrem Munde; und gabest ihnen Wasser, da sie dürstete.
21 Yea, forty years didst thou sustain them in the wilderness; they lacked nothing; their clothes grew not old, and their feet swelled not.
Vierzig Jahre versorgtest du sie in der Wüste, daß ihnen nichts mangelte. Ihre Kleider veralteten nicht, und ihre Füße zerschwollen nicht.
22 And thou gavest them kingdoms and peoples, and didst divide them by countries; and they possessed the land of Sihon, as well the land of the king of Heshbon, as the land of Og king of Bashan.
Und gabest ihnen Königreiche und Völker und teiltest sie hie und daher, daß sie einnahmen das Land Sihons, des Königs zu Hesbon und das Land Ogs, des Königs in Basan.
23 And their children thou didst multiply as the stars of heaven, and thou broughtest them into the land concerning which thou didst say to their fathers that they should go in to possess it.
Und vermehrtest ihre Kinder wie die Sterne am Himmel und brachtest sie ins Land, das du ihren Vätern geredet hattest, daß sie einziehen und es einnehmen sollten.
24 And the children went in and possessed the land; and thou subduedst before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gavest them into their hands, both their kings and the peoples of the land, that they might do with them as they would.
Und die Kinder zogen hinein und nahmen das Land ein. Und du demütigtest vor ihnen die Einwohner des Landes, die Kanaaniter, und gabest sie in ihre Hände, und ihre Könige und Völker im Lande, daß sie mit ihnen taten nach ihrem Willen.
25 And they took strong cities, and a fat land, and possessed houses full of all good things, wells digged, vineyards and olive-gardens, and fruit trees in abundance. And they did eat and were filled, and became fat, and delighted themselves in thy great goodness.
Und sie gewannen feste Städte und ein fett Land und nahmen Häuser ein, voll allerlei Güter, ausgehauene Brunnen, Weinberge, Ölgärten und Bäume, davon man isset, die Menge; und aßen und wurden satt und fett und lebten in Wollust durch deine große Güte.
26 But they were disobedient, and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their backs, and slew thy prophets who testified against them to turn them to thee, and they wrought great provocations.
Aber sie wurden ungehorsam und widerstrebten dir und warfen dein Gesetz hinter sich zurück; und erwürgeten deine Propheten, die sie bezeugten, daß sie sollten sich zu dir bekehren; und taten große Lästerungen.
27 And thou gavest them into the hand of their oppressors, and they oppressed them; and in the time of their distress, when they cried unto thee, thou heardest them from the heavens, and according to thy manifold mercies thou gavest them saviours, who saved them out of the hand of their oppressors.
Darum gabest du sie in die Hand ihrer Feinde, die sie ängsteten. Und zur Zeit ihrer Angst schrieen sie zu dir; und du erhöretest sie vom Himmel, und durch deine große Barmherzigkeit gabest du ihnen Heilande, die ihnen halfen aus ihrer Feinde Hand.
28 But when they had rest, they did evil again before thee; and thou didst leave them in the hand of their enemies, and they had dominion over them; and again they cried unto thee, and thou heardest [them] from the heavens, and many times didst thou deliver them, according to thy mercies.
Wenn sie aber zur Ruhe kamen, verkehreten sie sich, übel zu tun vor dir. So verließest du sie in ihrer Feinde Hand, daß sie über sie herrscheten. So bekehreten sie sich dann und schrieen zu dir; und du erhöretest sie vom Himmel und errettetest sie nach deiner großen Barmherzigkeit vielmal
29 And thou testifiedst against them, that thou mightest bring them again unto thy law; but they dealt proudly, and hearkened not unto thy commandments, but sinned against thine ordinances (which if a man do, he shall live in them); and they withdrew the shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear.
und ließest sie bezeugen, daß sie sich bekehren sollten zu deinem Gesetz. Aber sie waren stolz und gehorchten deinen Geboten nicht; und sündigten an deinen Rechten (welche so ein Mensch tut, lebet er darinnen) und wandten ihre Schulter weg und wurden halsstarrig und gehorchten nicht.
30 And many years didst thou forbear with them, and testifiedst against them by thy Spirit through thy prophets; but they would not give ear: and thou gavest them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.
Und du hieltest viele Jahre über ihnen und ließest sie bezeugen durch deinen Geist in deinen Propheten; aber sie nahmen's nicht zu Ohren. Darum hast du sie gegeben in die Hand der Völker in Ländern.
31 Nevertheless for thy manifold mercies' sake, thou didst not make a full end of them nor forsake them; for thou art a gracious and merciful God.
Aber nach deiner großen Barmherzigkeit hast du es nicht gar aus mit ihnen gemacht noch sie verlassen; denn du bist ein gnädiger und barmherziger Gott.
32 And now, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who keepest covenant and loving-kindness, let not all the trouble seem little before thee, that hath come upon us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all thy people, since the days of the kings of Assyria unto this day.
Nun, unser Gott, du großer Gott, mächtig und schrecklich, der du hältst Bund und Barmherzigkeit, achte nicht gering alle die Mühe, die uns getroffen hat und unsere Könige, Fürsten, Priester, Propheten, Väter und dein ganzes Volk von der Zeit an der Könige zu Assur bis auf diesen Tag.
33 But thou art just in all that is come upon us; for thou hast acted according to truth, and we have done wickedly.
Du bist gerecht an allem, das du über uns gebracht hast; denn du hast recht getan; wir aber sind gottlos gewesen.
34 And our kings, our princes, our priests, and our fathers, have not performed thy law, nor hearkened unto thy commandments and thy testimonies, wherewith thou didst testify against them.
Und unsere Könige, Fürsten, Priester und Väter haben nicht nach deinem Gesetz getan und nicht acht gehabt auf deine Gebote und Zeugnisse, die du ihnen hast lassen zeugen.
35 And they have not served thee in their kingdom, and in thy great goodness that thou gavest them, and in the large and fat land that thou didst set before them, neither turned they from their wicked works.
Und sie haben dir nicht gedienet in ihrem Königreich und in deinen großen Gütern, die du ihnen gabest, und in dem weiten und fetten Lande, das du ihnen dargelegt hast, und haben sich nicht bekehret von ihrem bösen Wesen.
36 Behold, we are servants this day, and the land that thou gavest unto our fathers to eat the fruit thereof and the good thereof, behold, we are bondmen in it.
Siehe, wir sind heutigestages Knechte; und im Lande, das du unsern Vätern gegeben hast, zu essen seine Früchte und Güter, siehe, da sind wir Knechte innen.
37 And it yieldeth much increase unto the kings whom thou hast set over us because of our sins: and they have dominion over our bodies, and over our cattle, at their pleasure; and we are in great distress.
Und sein Einkommen mehret sich den Königen, die du über uns gesetzt hast, um unserer Sünden willen; und sie herrschen über unsere Leiber und Vieh nach ihrem Willen, und wir sind in großer Not.
38 And because of all this we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, our Levites, [and] our priests are at the sealing.
Und in diesem allem machen wir einen festen Bund und schreiben und lassen's unsere Fürsten, Leviten und Priester versiegeln.
