Matthew 25
1 Then shall the kingdom of the heavens be made like to ten virgins that having taken their torches, went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Alors le royaume des cieux sera semblable à dix vierges qui, ayant pris leurs lampes, allèrent au-devant de l’époux et de l’épouse.
2 And five of them were prudent and five foolish.
Cinq d’entre elles étaient folles et cinq sages.
3 They that were foolish took their torches and did not take oil with them;
Les cinq folles, en prenant leurs lampes, n’emportèrent point d’huile avec elles:
4 but the prudent took oil in their vessels with their torches.
Mais les sages prirent de l’huile dans leurs vases avec les lampes.
5 Now the bridegroom tarrying, they all grew heavy and slept.
Or l’époux tardant à venir, elles s’assoupirent toutes, et s’endormirent.
6 But in [the] middle of [the] night there was a cry, Behold, the bridegroom; go forth to meet him.
Mais au milieu de la nuit, un cri s’éleva: Voici l’époux qui vient; sortez au-devant de lui.
7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their torches.
Aussitôt toutes ces vierges se levèrent, et préparèrent leurs lampes.
8 And the foolish said to the prudent, Give us of your oil, for our torches are going out.
Mais les folles dirent aux sages: Donnez-nous de votre huile, parce que nos lampes s’éteignent.
9 But the prudent answered saying, [We cannot, ] lest it might not suffice for us and for you. Go rather to those that sell, and buy for yourselves.
Les sages répondirent, disant: De peur qu’il n’y en ait pas assez pour nous et pour vous, allez plutôt à ceux qui en vendent, et achetez-en pour vous.
10 But as they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and the [ones that were] ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut.
Or pendant qu’elles allaient en acheter l’époux arriva; et celles qui étaient prêtes entrèrent avec lui dans la salle des noces, et la porte fut fermée.
11 Afterwards come also the rest of the virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us;
Enfin les autres vierges vinrent aussi, disant: Seigneur, Seigneur, ouvrez-nous.
12 but he answering said, Verily I say unto you, I do not know you.
Mais l’époux répondant, dit: En vérité je vous dis que je ne vous connais point.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour.
Veillez donc, parce que vous ne savez ni le jour ni l’heure.
14 For [it is] as [if] a man going away out of a country called his own bondmen and delivered to them his substance.
C’est comme un homme qui, partant pour un voyage, appela ses serviteurs et leur remit ses biens.
15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to each according to his particular ability, and immediately went away out of the country.
À l’un il donna cinq talents, à un autre deux, à un autre un, à chacun selon sa capacité, et il partit aussitôt.
16 And he that had received the five talents went and trafficked with them, and made five other talents.
Or celui qui avait reçu les cinq talents s’en alla, les fit valoir et en gagna cinq autres.
17 In like manner also he that [had received] the two, [he also] gained two others.
Pareillement celui aussi, qui en avait reçu deux, en gagna deux autres.
18 But he that had received the one went and dug in the earth, and hid the money of his lord.
Mais celui qui n’en avait reçu qu’un, s’en allant, creusa la terre maître.
19 And after a long time the lord of those bondmen comes and reckons with them.
Longtemps après, le maître de ces serviteurs revint et compta avec eux.
20 And he that had received the five talents came to [him] and brought five other talents, saying, [My] lord, thou deliveredst me five talents; behold, I have gained five other talents besides them.
Alors celui qui avait reçu cinq talents s’approchant, lui présenta cinq autres talents, disant: Seigneur, vous m’avez remis cinq talents, en voici cinq autres que j’ai gagnés de plus.
21 His lord said to him, Well, good and faithful bondman, thou wast faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things: enter into the joy of thy lord.
Son maître lui répondit: Fort bien, serviteur bon et fidèle: parce que tu as été fidèle en peu de choses, je t’établirai sur beaucoup: entre dans la joie de ton maître.
22 And he also that had received the two talents came to [him] and said, [My] lord, thou deliveredst me two talents; behold, I have gained two other talents besides them.
Celui qui avait reçu deux talents vint aussi, et dit: Seigneur, vous m’aviez remis deux talents; en voici deux autres que j’ai gagnés.
23 His lord said to him, Well, good and faithful bondman, thou wast faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Son maître lui répondit: Fort bien, serviteur bon et fidèle: parce que tu as été fidèle en peu de choses, je t’établirai sur beaucoup: entre dans la joie de ton maître.
24 And he also that had received the one talent coming to [him] said, [My] lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hadst not sowed, and gathering from where thou hadst not scattered,
Puis s’approchant aussi, celui qui avait reçu un seul talent dit: Seigneur, je sais que vous êtes un homme sévère; vous moissonnez où vous n’avez point semé, et recueillez où vous n’avez rien mis.
25 and being afraid I went away and hid thy talent in the earth; behold, thou hast that which is thine.
Aussi, craignant, je m’en suis allé et j’ai caché votre talent dans la terre: voici, je vous rends ce qui est à vous.
26 And his lord answering said to him, Wicked and slothful bondman, thou knewest that I reap where I had not sowed, and gather from where I had not scattered;
Son maître répondant lui dit: Serviteur mauvais et paresseux, tu savais que je moissonne où je n’ai point semé, et que je recueille où je n’ai rien mis:
27 thou oughtest then to have put my money to the money-changers, and when I came I should have got what is mine with interest.
Il fallait donc remettre mon argent aux banquiers, et, revenant, j’aurais reçu avec usure ce qui est à moi.
28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it to him that has the ten talents:
Reprenez-lui donc le talent, et donnez-le à celui qui a dix talents.
29 for to every one that has shall be given, and he shall be in abundance; but from him that has not, that even which he has shall be taken from him.
Car on donnera à celui qui a, et il sera dans l’abondance; mais à celui qui n’a pas, même ce qu’il semble avoir, lui sera ôté.
30 And cast out the useless bondman into the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
Et jetez ce serviteur inutile dans les ténèbres extérieures: là sera le pleur et le grincement de dents.
31 But when the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit down upon his throne of glory,
Or, quand le Fils de l’homme viendra dans sa majesté, et tous les anges avec lui, alors il s’assiéra sur le trône de sa majesté.
32 and all the nations shall be gathered before him; and he shall separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;
Et toutes les nations seront rassemblées devant lui, et il les séparera les uns d’avec les autres, comme le pasteur sépare les brebis d’avec les boucs;
33 and he will set the sheep on his right hand, and the goats on [his] left.
Et il placera les brebis à sa droite et les boucs à sa gauche.
34 Then shall the King say to those on his right hand, Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from [the] world's foundation:
Alors, le roi dira à ceux qui seront à sa droite: Venez, les bénis de mon père; possédez le royaume préparé pour vous depuis la fondation du monde:
35 for I hungered, and ye gave me to eat; I thirsted, and ye gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in;
Car j’ai eu faim, et vous m’avez donné à manger; j’ai eu soif, et vous m’avez donné à boire; j’étais sans asile, et vous m’avez recueilli;
36 naked, and ye clothed me; I was ill, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came to me.
Nu, et vous m’avez vêtu; malade, et vous m’avez visité; en prison, et vous êtes venus à moi.
37 Then shall the righteous answer him saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungering, and nourished thee; or thirsting, and gave thee to drink?
Alors les justes lui répondront: Seigneur, quand est-ce que nous vous avons vu ayant faim, et que nous vous avons rassasié; ayant soif, et que nous vous avons donné à boire?
38 and when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in; or naked, and clothed thee?
Quand est-ce que nous vous avons vu sans asile, et que nous vous avons recueilli; ou nu, et que nous vous avons vêtu?
39 and when saw we thee ill, or in prison, and came to thee?
Ou quand est-ce que nous vous avons vu malade ou en prison, et que nous sommes venus à vous?
40 And the King answering shall say to them, Verily, I say to you, Inasmuch as ye have done it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it to me.
Et le roi répondra, disant: En vérité, je vous dis: Chaque fois que vous l’avez fait à l’un de ces plus petits d’entre mes frères, c’est à moi que vous l’avez fait.
41 Then shall he say also to those on the left, Go from me, cursed, into eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: (aiōnios g166)
Alors il dira aussi à ceux qui seront à sa gauche: Allez loin de moi, maudits, au feu éternel, qui a été préparé au diable et à ses anges; (aiōnios g166)
42 for I hungered, and ye gave me not to eat; I thirsted, and ye gave me not to drink;
Car j’ai eu faim, et vous ne m’avez point donné à manger; j’ai eu soif, et vous ne m’avez point donné à boire;
43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye did not clothe me; ill, and in prison, and ye did not visit me.
J’étais sans asile, et vous ne m’avez point recueilli; nu, et vous ne m’avez point vêtu; malade et en prison, et vous ne m’avez point visité.
44 Then shall they also answer saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or ill, or in prison, and have not ministered to thee?
Alors, eux aussi lui répondront, disant: Seigneur, quand est-ce que nous vous avons vu ayant faim, ou soif, ou sans asile, ou nu, ou malade, ou en prison, et que nous ne vous avons point assisté?
45 Then shall he answer them saying, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye have not done it to one of these least, neither have ye done it to me.
Alors il leur répondra, disant: En vérité, je vous le dis, chaque fois que vous ne l’avez point fait à l’un de ces petits, à moi non plus, vous ne l’avez point fait.
