Matthew 24
1 And Jesus went forth and went away from the temple, and his disciples came to [him] to point out to him the buildings of the temple.
যীশু মন্দির ছেড়ে চলে যাচ্ছেন, এমন সময়ে তাঁর শিষ্যেরা তাঁর কাছে এসে মন্দিরের গঠনের প্রতি তাঁর মনোযোগ আকৃষ্ট করলেন।
2 And he answering said to them, Do ye not see all these things? Verily I say to you, Not a stone shall be left here upon a stone which shall not be thrown down.
তিনি জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “তোমরা কি এসব জিনিস দেখছ? আমি তোমাদের সত্যিই বলছি, এদের একটি পাথরও অন্যটির উপরে থাকবে না, সবকটিকেই ভূমিসাৎ করা হবে।”
3 And as he was sitting upon the mount of Olives the disciples came to him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be, and what is the sign of thy coming and [the] completion of the age? (aiōn g165)
যীশু যখন জলপাই পর্বতের উপরে বসেছিলেন, শিষ্যেরা এক প্রকার গোপনে তাঁর কাছে এসে বললেন, “আমাদের বলুন, কখন এসব ঘটনা ঘটবে এবং আপনার আগমনের, বা যুগান্তের চিহ্নই বা কী কী হবে?” (aiōn g165)
4 And Jesus answering said to them, See that no one mislead you.
যীশু উত্তর দিলেন, “সতর্ক থেকো, কেউ যেন তোমাদের সঙ্গে প্রতারণা না করে।
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and they shall mislead many.
কারণ অনেকে এসে আমার নামে দাবি করবে, ‘আমিই সেই খ্রীষ্ট’ আর এভাবে বহু মানুষকে ঠকাবে।
6 But ye will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that ye be not disturbed; for all [these things] must take place, but it is not yet the end.
তোমরা যুদ্ধের কথা ও যুদ্ধের সব জনরব শুনবে। কিন্তু দেখো, তোমরা যেন ব্যাকুল না হও। এ সমস্ত বিষয় অবশ্যই ঘটবে, কিন্তু তখনও অন্তিমলগ্ন উপস্থিত হয়নি।
7 For nation shall rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be famines and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places.
এক জাতি অন্য জাতির বিপক্ষে, এক রাজ্য অন্য রাজ্যের বিপক্ষে অভিযান করবে। বিভিন্ন স্থানে দুর্ভিক্ষ ও ভূমিকম্প হবে।
8 But all these [are the] beginning of throes.
এসব প্রসব যন্ত্রণার সূচনা মাত্র।
9 Then shall they deliver you up to tribulation, and shall kill you; and ye will be hated of all the nations for my name's sake.
“তখন তোমাদেরকে অত্যাচার করার ও মৃত্যুদণ্ড দেওয়ার জন্য সমর্পণ করা হবে। আমার কারণে সমস্ত জাতির মানুষেরা তোমাদের ঘৃণা করবে।
10 And then will many be offended, and will deliver one another up, and hate one another;
সেই সময়ে অনেকেই বিশ্বাস হারাবে, বিশ্বাসঘাতকতা করবে ও পরস্পরকে ঘৃণা করবে।
11 and many false prophets shall arise and shall mislead many;
বহু ভণ্ড ভাববাদী উপস্থিত হয়ে বহু মানুষের সঙ্গে প্রতারণা করবে।
12 and because lawlessness shall prevail, the love of the most shall grow cold;
আর দুষ্টতা বৃদ্ধি পাওয়ার কারণে অধিকাংশ মানুষেরই প্রেম শীতল হয়ে যাবে,
13 but he that has endured to the end, he shall be saved.
কিন্তু যে কেউ শেষ পর্যন্ত অবিচল থাকবে, সেই পরিত্রাণ পাবে।
14 And these glad tidings of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole habitable earth, for a witness to all the nations, and then shall come the end.
আর সকল জাতির কাছে সাক্ষ্য দেওয়ার জন্য স্বর্গরাজ্যের এই সুসমাচার সমস্ত জগতে প্রচারিত হবে, আর তখনই অন্তিমলগ্ন উপস্থিত হবে।
15 When therefore ye shall see the abomination of desolation, which is spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in [what is a] holy place, (he that reads let him understand, )
“আর তাই, যখন তোমরা দেখবে, ‘ধ্বংস-আনয়নকারী সেই ঘৃণ্য বস্তু’ পবিত্রস্থানে দাঁড়িয়ে আছে, যা ভাববাদী দানিয়েল উল্লেখ করেছেন—পাঠক বুঝে নিক—
16 then let those who are in Judaea flee to the mountains;
তখন যারা যিহূদিয়া প্রদেশে বসবাস করে, তারা পার্বত্য অঞ্চলে পালিয়ে যাক।
17 let not him that is on the house come down to take the things out of his house;
তখন ছাদের উপরে যে থাকবে, সে যেন কোনো জিনিসপত্র ঘর থেকে নেওয়ার জন্য নিচে নেমে না আসে।
18 and let not him that is in the field turn back to take his garment.
মাঠে যে থাকবে, সে যেন জামাকাপড় নেওয়ার জন্য ঘরে ফিরে না যায়।
19 But woe to those that are with child, and those that give suck in those days.
সেই সময় গর্ভবতী নারীদের ও স্তন্যদাত্রী মায়েদের কতই না ভয়ংকর কষ্ট হবে!
20 But pray that your flight may not be in winter time nor on sabbath:
প্রার্থনা কোরো, যেন তোমাদের পালিয়ে যাওয়া শীতকালে বা বিশ্রামদিনে না হয়।
21 for then shall there be great tribulation, such as has not been from [the] beginning of [the] world until now, nor ever shall be;
কারণ সেই সময় এমন চরম বিপর্যয় এসে উপস্থিত হবে, যা পৃথিবী সৃষ্টির সময় থেকে এ পর্যন্ত কখনও হয়নি, আর কখনও হবেও না।
22 and if those days had not been cut short, no flesh had been saved; but on account of the elect those days shall be cut short.
“সেই সমস্ত দিনের সংখ্যা যদি কমিয়ে না দেওয়া হত, তাহলে কোনো মানুষই রক্ষা পেত না, কিন্তু যাদের তিনি মনোনীত করেছেন, তাঁদের জন্য সেইসব দিনের সংখ্যা কমিয়ে দেওয়া হবে।
23 Then if any one say to you, Behold, here is the Christ, or here, believe [it] not.
সেই সময়, কেউ যদি তোমাদের বলে, ‘দেখো, খ্রীষ্ট এখানে!’ অথবা, ‘তিনি ওখানে!’ তোমরা বিশ্বাস কোরো না।
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall give great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.
কারণ ভণ্ড খ্রীষ্টেরা ও ভণ্ড ভাববাদীরা উপস্থিত হয়ে বহু বড়ো বড়ো চিহ্ন ও অলৌকিক কাজ করে দেখাবে, যেন সম্ভব হলে মনোনীতদেরও প্রতারিত করতে পারে।
25 Behold, I have told you beforehand.
দেখো, ঘটনা ঘটবার পূর্বেই আমি তোমাদের একথা বলে দিলাম।
26 If therefore they say to you, Behold, he is in the desert, go not forth; behold, [he is] in the inner chambers, do not believe [it].
“তাই, কেউ যদি তোমাদের বলে, ‘দেখো, তিনি মরুপ্রান্তরে আছেন,’ তোমরা বেরিয়ে যেয়ো না; কিংবা, ‘তিনি এখানে ভিতরের ঘরে আছেন,’ তা বিশ্বাস কোরো না।
27 For as the lightning goes forth from the east and shines to the west, so shall be the coming of the Son of man.
কারণ বিদ্যুতের ঝলক যেমন পূর্বদিক থেকে পশ্চিমদিক পর্যন্ত দৃশ্যমান হয়, মনুষ্যপুত্রের আগমনও সেইরূপ হবে।
28 [For] wherever the carcase is, there will be gathered the eagles.
যেখানেই মৃতদেহ, সেখানেই শকুনের ঝাঁক জড়ো হবে।
29 But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.
“আর সেই সময়কালীন বিপর্যয়ের অব্যবহিত পরেই, “‘সূর্য অন্ধকারে ঢেকে যাবে, চাঁদ তার আলো দেবে না, আকাশ থেকে নক্ষত্রসমূহের পতন হবে, আর জ্যোতিষ্কমণ্ডলী প্রকম্পিত হবে।’
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the land lament, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
“সে সময়ে মনুষ্যপুত্রের আগমনের চিহ্ন আকাশে ফুটে উঠবে, আর পৃথিবীর সমস্ত জাতি শোকবিলাপ করবে। তারা মনুষ্যপুত্রকে স্বর্গের মেঘে করে আসতে দেখবে, তিনি পরাক্রমে ও মহামহিমায় আবির্ভূত হবেন।
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from [the one] extremity of [the] heavens to [the other] extremity of them.
তিনি তাঁর দূতদের মহা তূরীধ্বনির সঙ্গে পাঠাবেন। তাঁরা আকাশের এক প্রান্ত থেকে অন্য প্রান্ত পর্যন্ত চারদিক থেকে তাঁর মনোনীতদের সংগ্রহ করবেন।
32 But learn the parable from the fig-tree: When already its branch becomes tender and produces leaves, ye know that the summer is near.
“এখন ডুমুর গাছ থেকে এই শিক্ষাগ্রহণ করো: যখনই এর শাখায় কোমল পল্লব ও পাতা বের হয়ে আসে, তোমরা বুঝতে পারো যে, গ্রীষ্মকাল কাছে এসেছে।
33 Thus also ye, when ye see all these things, know that it is near, at the doors.
একইভাবে, তোমরা যখন এসব বিষয় ঘটতে দেখবে, তোমরা জানবে যে, সময় হয়ে এসেছে, এমনকি, তিনি দুয়ারে উপস্থিত হয়েছেন।
34 Verily I say to you, This generation will not have passed away until all these things shall have taken place.
আমি তোমাদের সত্যিই বলছি, এই সমস্ত ঘটনা না ঘটা পর্যন্ত বর্তমান প্রজন্ম লুপ্ত হবে না।
35 The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words shall in no wise pass away.
আকাশ ও পৃথিবী লুপ্ত হবে, কিন্তু আমার বাক্য কখনও লুপ্ত হবে না।
36 But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of the heavens, but [my] Father alone.
“কিন্তু সেই দিন বা ক্ষণের কথা কেউই জানে না, এমনকি স্বর্গদূতেরা বা পুত্রও জানেন না, কেবলমাত্র পিতা জানেন।
37 But as the days of Noe, so also shall be the coming of the Son of man.
নোহের সময়ে যে রকম হয়েছিল, মনুষ্যপুত্রের আগমনকালেও তেমনই হবে।
38 For as they were in the days which were before the flood, eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day on which Noe entered into the ark,
কারণ মহাপ্লাবনের আগে নোহ জাহাজে প্রবেশ করা পর্যন্ত, লোকেরা খাওয়াদাওয়া করত, পান করত, বিবাহ করত ও তাদের বিবাহ দেওয়া হত।
39 and they knew not till the flood came and took all away; thus also shall be the coming of the Son of man.
কী ঘটতে চলেছে, তারা তার কিছুই বুঝতে পারেনি, যতক্ষণ না বন্যা এসে তাদের সবাইকে ভাসিয়ে নিয়ে গেল। মনুষ্যপুত্রের আগমনকালেও ঠিক একই ঘটনা ঘটবে।
40 Then two shall be in the field, one is taken and one is left;
দুজন মানুষ মাঠে কর্মরত থাকবে; একজনকে গ্রহণ করা হবে, অন্যজন পরিত্যক্ত হবে।
41 two [women] grinding at the mill, one is taken and one is left.
দুজন মহিলা একটি জাঁতা পেষণ করবে; একজনকে নিয়ে যাওয়া হবে, অন্যজনকে ছেড়ে যাওয়া হবে।
42 Watch therefore, for ye know not in what hour your Lord comes.
“সেই কারণে সতর্ক থেকো, কারণ তোমরা জানো না, কোন দিন তোমাদের প্রভু এসে পড়বেন।
43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched and not have suffered his house to be dug through [into].
কিন্তু এ বিষয় বুঝে নাও; বাড়ির কর্তা যদি জানতে পারত, রাতের কোন প্রহরে চোর আসছে, তাহলে সে সজাগ থাকত এবং তার বাড়িতে সিঁধ কাটতে দিত না।
44 Wherefore ye also, be ye ready, for in that hour that ye think not the Son of man comes.
তাই তোমরাও প্রস্তুত থেকো, কারণ যখন তোমরা প্রত্যাশা করবে না, সেই মুহূর্তেই মনুষ্যপুত্র আসবেন।
45 Who then is the faithful and prudent bondman whom his lord has set over his household, to give them food in season?
“তাহলে সেই বিশ্বস্ত ও বিজ্ঞ দাস কে, যাকে প্রভু তাঁর পরিজনবর্গের উপরে নিযুক্ত করেছেন, যেন সে তার দাসদের যথাসময়ে খাদ্য পরিবেশন করে?
46 Blessed is that bondman whom his lord on coming shall find doing thus.
তার প্রভু ফিরে এসে তাকে সেই কাজ করতে দেখলে সেই দাসের পক্ষে তা মঙ্গলজনক হবে।
47 Verily I say unto you, that he will set him over all his substance.
আমি তোমাদের সত্যি বলছি, তিনি তাকে তাঁর বিষয়সম্পত্তির তত্ত্বাবধায়ক করবেন।
48 But if that evil bondman should say in his heart, My lord delays to come,
কিন্তু মনে করো, সেই দুষ্ট দাস মনে মনে ভাবল, ‘দীর্ঘদিন হল আমার প্রভু দূরে বাস করছেন,’
49 and begin to beat his fellow-bondmen, and eat and drink with the drunken;
আর সে তার সহদাসদের মারতে শুরু করল ও মদ্যপদের সঙ্গে খাওয়াদাওয়া ও সুরাপান করে মত্ত হতে লাগল।
50 the lord of that bondman shall come in a day when he does not expect it, and in an hour he knows not of,
সেই দাসের প্রভু এমন এক সময়ে ফিরে আসবেন, যখন সে তাঁর আগমনের প্রত্যাশা করেনি, বা এমন এক ক্ষণে, যা সে জানতেও পারেনি।
51 and shall cut him in two and appoint his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.
তিনি তাকে খণ্ডবিখণ্ড করবেন এবং ভণ্ডদের মধ্যে তাকে স্থান দেবেন, যেখানে কেবলমাত্র রোদন ও দন্তঘর্ষণ হবে।
