Matthew 23
1 Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples,
અનન્તરં યીશુ ર્જનનિવહં શિષ્યાંશ્ચાવદત્,
2 saying, The scribes and the Pharisees have set themselves down in Moses' seat:
અધ્યાપકાઃ ફિરૂશિનશ્ચ મૂસાસને ઉપવિશન્તિ,
3 all things therefore, whatever they may tell you, do and keep. But do not after their works, for they say and do not,
અતસ્તે યુષ્માન્ યદ્યત્ મન્તુમ્ આજ્ઞાપયન્તિ, તત્ મન્યધ્વં પાલયધ્વઞ્ચ, કિન્તુ તેષાં કર્મ્માનુરૂપં કર્મ્મ ન કુરુધ્વં; યતસ્તેષાં વાક્યમાત્રં સારં કાર્ય્યે કિમપિ નાસ્તિ|
4 but bind burdens heavy and hard to bear, and lay them on the shoulders of men, but will not move them with their finger.
તે દુર્વ્વહાન્ ગુરુતરાન્ ભારાન્ બદ્વ્વા મનુષ્યાણાં સ્કન્ધેપરિ સમર્પયન્તિ, કિન્તુ સ્વયમઙ્ગુલ્યૈકયાપિ ન ચાલયન્તિ|
5 And all their works they do to be seen of men: for they make broad their phylacteries and enlarge the borders [of their garments],
કેવલં લોકદર્શનાય સર્વ્વકર્મ્માણિ કુર્વ્વન્તિ; ફલતઃ પટ્ટબન્ધાન્ પ્રસાર્ય્ય ધારયન્તિ, સ્વવસ્ત્રેષુ ચ દીર્ઘગ્રન્થીન્ ધારયન્તિ;
6 and love the chief place in feasts and the first seats in the synagogues,
ભોજનભવન ઉચ્ચસ્થાનં, ભજનભવને પ્રધાનમાસનં,
7 and salutations in the market-places, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
હટ્ઠે નમસ્કારં ગુરુરિતિ સમ્બોધનઞ્ચૈતાનિ સર્વ્વાણિ વાઞ્છન્તિ|
8 But ye, be not ye called Rabbi; for one is your instructor, and all ye are brethren.
કિન્તુ યૂયં ગુરવ ઇતિ સમ્બોધનીયા મા ભવત, યતો યુષ્માકમ્ એકઃ ખ્રીષ્ટએવ ગુરુ
9 And call not [any one] your father upon the earth; for one is your Father, he who is in the heavens.
ર્યૂયં સર્વ્વે મિથો ભ્રાતરશ્ચ| પુનઃ પૃથિવ્યાં કમપિ પિતેતિ મા સમ્બુધ્યધ્વં, યતો યુષ્માકમેકઃ સ્વર્ગસ્થએવ પિતા|
10 Neither be called instructors, for one is your instructor, the Christ.
યૂયં નાયકેતિ સમ્ભાષિતા મા ભવત, યતો યુષ્માકમેકઃ ખ્રીષ્ટએવ નાયકઃ|
11 But the greatest of you shall be your servant.
અપરં યુષ્માકં મધ્યે યઃ પુમાન્ શ્રેષ્ઠઃ સ યુષ્માન્ સેવિષ્યતે|
12 And whoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled, and whoever shall humble himself shall be exalted.
યતો યઃ સ્વમુન્નમતિ, સ નતઃ કરિષ્યતે; કિન્તુ યઃ કશ્ચિત્ સ્વમવનતં કરોતિ, સ ઉન્નતઃ કરિષ્યતે|
13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men; for ye do not enter, nor do ye suffer those that are entering to go in.
હન્ત કપટિન ઉપાધ્યાયાઃ ફિરૂશિનશ્ચ, યૂયં મનુજાનાં સમક્ષં સ્વર્ગદ્વારં રુન્ધ, યૂયં સ્વયં તેન ન પ્રવિશથ, પ્રવિવિક્ષૂનપિ વારયથ| વત કપટિન ઉપાધ્યાયાઃ ફિરૂશિનશ્ચ યૂયં છલાદ્ દીર્ઘં પ્રાર્થ્ય વિધવાનાં સર્વ્વસ્વં ગ્રસથ, યુષ્માકં ઘોરતરદણ્ડો ભવિષ્યતિ|
હન્ત કપટિન ઉપાધ્યાયાઃ ફિરૂશિનશ્ચ, યૂયમેકં સ્વધર્મ્માવલમ્બિનં કર્ત્તું સાગરં ભૂમણ્ડલઞ્ચ પ્રદક્ષિણીકુરુથ,
15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye compass the sea and the dry [land] to make one proselyte, and when he is become [such], ye make him twofold more [the] son of hell than yourselves. (Geenna g1067)
કઞ્ચન પ્રાપ્ય સ્વતો દ્વિગુણનરકભાજનં તં કુરુથ| (Geenna g1067)
16 Woe to you, blind guides, who say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor.
વત અન્ધપથદર્શકાઃ સર્વ્વે, યૂયં વદથ, મન્દિરસ્ય શપથકરણાત્ કિમપિ ન દેયં; કિન્તુ મન્દિરસ્થસુવર્ણસ્ય શપથકરણાદ્ દેયં|
17 Fools and blind, for which is greater, the gold, or the temple which sanctifies the gold?
હે મૂઢા હે અન્ધાઃ સુવર્ણં તત્સુવર્ણપાવકમન્દિરમ્ એતયોરુભયો ર્મધ્યે કિં શ્રેયઃ?
18 And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gift that is upon it is a debtor.
અન્યચ્ચ વદથ, યજ્ઞવેદ્યાઃ શપથકરણાત્ કિમપિ ન દેયં, કિન્તુ તદુપરિસ્થિતસ્ય નૈવેદ્યસ્ય શપથકરણાદ્ દેયં|
19 [Fools and] blind ones, for which is greater, the gift, or the altar which sanctifies the gift?
હે મૂઢા હે અન્ધાઃ, નૈવેદ્યં તન્નૈવેદ્યપાવકવેદિરેતયોરુભયો ર્મધ્યે કિં શ્રેયઃ?
20 He therefore that swears by the altar swears by it and by all things that are upon it.
અતઃ કેનચિદ્ યજ્ઞવેદ્યાઃ શપથે કૃતે તદુપરિસ્થસ્ય સર્વ્વસ્ય શપથઃ ક્રિયતે|
21 And he that swears by the temple swears by it and by him that dwells in it.
કેનચિત્ મન્દિરસ્ય શપથે કૃતે મન્દિરતન્નિવાસિનોઃ શપથઃ ક્રિયતે|
22 And he that swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by him that sits upon it.
કેનચિત્ સ્વર્ગસ્ય શપથે કૃતે ઈશ્વરીયસિંહાસનતદુપર્ય્યુપવિષ્ટયોઃ શપથઃ ક્રિયતે|
23 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye pay tithes of mint and anise and cummin, and ye have left aside the weightier matters of the law, judgment and mercy and faith: these ye ought to have done and not have left those aside.
હન્ત કપટિન ઉપાધ્યાયાઃ ફિરૂશિનશ્ચ, યૂયં પોદિનાયાઃ સિતચ્છત્રાયા જીરકસ્ય ચ દશમાંશાન્ દત્થ, કિન્તુ વ્યવસ્થાયા ગુરુતરાન્ ન્યાયદયાવિશ્વાસાન્ પરિત્યજથ; ઇમે યુષ્માભિરાચરણીયા અમી ચ ન લંઘનીયાઃ|
24 Blind guides, who strain out the gnat, but drink down the camel.
હે અન્ધપથદર્શકા યૂયં મશકાન્ અપસારયથ, કિન્તુ મહાઙ્ગાન્ ગ્રસથ|
25 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but within they are full of rapine and intemperance.
હન્ત કપટિન ઉપાધ્યાયાઃ ફિરૂશિનશ્ચ, યૂયં પાનપાત્રાણાં ભોજનપાત્રાણાઞ્ચ બહિઃ પરિષ્કુરુથ; કિન્તુ તદભ્યન્તરં દુરાત્મતયા કલુષેણ ચ પરિપૂર્ણમાસ્તે|
26 Blind Pharisee, make clean first the inside of the cup and of the dish, that their outside also may become clean.
હે અન્ધાઃ ફિરૂશિલોકા આદૌ પાનપાત્રાણાં ભોજનપાત્રાણાઞ્ચાભ્યન્તરં પરિષ્કુરુત, તેન તેષાં બહિરપિ પરિષ્કારિષ્યતે|
27 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye are like whited sepulchres, which appear beautiful outwardly, but within are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness.
હન્ત કપટિન ઉપાધ્યાયાઃ ફિરૂશિનશ્ચ, યૂયં શુક્લીકૃતશ્મશાનસ્વરૂપા ભવથ, યથા શ્મશાનભવનસ્ય બહિશ્ચારુ, કિન્ત્વભ્યન્તરં મૃતલોકાનાં કીકશૈઃ સર્વ્વપ્રકારમલેન ચ પરિપૂર્ણમ્;
28 Thus also ye, outwardly ye appear righteous to men, but within are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
તથૈવ યૂયમપિ લોકાનાં સમક્ષં બહિર્ધાર્મ્મિકાઃ કિન્ત્વન્તઃકરણેષુ કેવલકાપટ્યાધર્મ્માભ્યાં પરિપૂર્ણાઃ|
29 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets and adorn the tombs of the just,
હા હા કપટિન ઉપાધ્યાયાઃ ફિરૂશિનશ્ચ, યૂયં ભવિષ્યદ્વાદિનાં શ્મશાનગેહં નિર્મ્માથ, સાધૂનાં શ્મશાનનિકેતનં શોભયથ
30 and ye say, If we had been in the days of our fathers we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
વદથ ચ યદિ વયં સ્વેષાં પૂર્વ્વપુરુષાણાં કાલ અસ્થાસ્યામ, તર્હિ ભવિષ્યદ્વાદિનાં શોણિતપાતને તેષાં સહભાગિનો નાભવિષ્યામ|
31 So that ye bear witness of yourselves that ye are sons of those who slew the prophets:
અતો યૂયં ભવિષ્યદ્વાદિઘાતકાનાં સન્તાના ઇતિ સ્વયમેવ સ્વેષાં સાક્ષ્યં દત્થ|
32 and ye, fill ye up the measure of your fathers.
અતો યૂયં નિજપૂર્વ્વપુરુષાણાં પરિમાણપાત્રં પરિપૂરયત|
રે ભુજગાઃ કૃષ્ણભુજગવંશાઃ, યૂયં કથં નરકદણ્ડાદ્ રક્ષિષ્યધ્વે| (Geenna g1067)
34 Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and [some] of them ye will kill and crucify, and [some] of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and will persecute from city to city;
પશ્યત, યુષ્માકમન્તિકમ્ અહં ભવિષ્યદ્વાદિનો બુદ્ધિમત ઉપાધ્યાયાંશ્ચ પ્રેષયિષ્યામિ, કિન્તુ તેષાં કતિપયા યુષ્માભિ ર્ઘાનિષ્યન્તે, ક્રુશે ચ ઘાનિષ્યન્તે, કેચિદ્ ભજનભવને કષાભિરાઘાનિષ્યન્તે, નગરે નગરે તાડિષ્યન્તે ચ;
35 so that all righteous blood shed upon the earth should come upon you, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
તેન સત્પુરુષસ્ય હાબિલો રક્તપાતમારભ્ય બેરિખિયઃ પુત્રં યં સિખરિયં યૂયં મન્દિરયજ્ઞવેદ્યો ર્મધ્યે હતવન્તઃ, તદીયશોણિતપાતં યાવદ્ અસ્મિન્ દેશે યાવતાં સાધુપુરુષાણાં શોણિતપાતો ઽભવત્ તત્ સર્વ્વેષામાગસાં દણ્ડા યુષ્માસુ વર્ત્તિષ્યન્તે|
36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
અહં યુષ્માન્ત તથ્યં વદામિ, વિદ્યમાનેઽસ્મિન્ પુરુષે સર્વ્વે વર્ત્તિષ્યન્તે|
37 Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [the city] that kills the prophets and stones those that are sent unto her, how often would I have gathered thy children as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
હે યિરૂશાલમ્ હે યિરૂશાલમ્ નગરિ ત્વં ભવિષ્યદ્વાદિનો હતવતી, તવ સમીપં પ્રેરિતાંશ્ચ પાષાણૈરાહતવતી, યથા કુક્કુટી શાવકાન્ પક્ષાધઃ સંગૃહ્લાતિ, તથા તવ સન્તાનાન્ સંગ્રહીતું અહં બહુવારમ્ ઐચ્છં; કિન્તુ ત્વં ન સમમન્યથાઃ|
38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate;
પશ્યત યષ્માકં વાસસ્થાનમ્ ઉચ્છિન્નં ત્યક્ષ્યતે|
39 for I say unto you, Ye shall in no wise see me henceforth until ye say, Blessed [be] he that comes in the name of [the] Lord.
અહં યુષ્માન્ તથ્યં વદામિ, યઃ પરમેશ્વરસ્ય નામ્નાગચ્છતિ, સ ધન્ય ઇતિ વાણીં યાવન્ન વદિષ્યથ, તાવત્ માં પુન ર્ન દ્રક્ષ્યથ|
