Matthew 23
1 Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to his disciples,
Alsdann redete Jesus zu den Volkshaufen und zu seinen Jüngern,
2 saying, The scribes and the Pharisees have set themselves down in Moses' seat:
Und sprachen: Auf dem Stuhle Mosis sitzen die Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer:
3 all things therefore, whatever they may tell you, do and keep. But do not after their works, for they say and do not,
Alles nun, was sie euch sagen, daß ihr es halten sollt, das tut, aber nach ihren Werken sollt ihr nicht tun, denn sie sagen es wohl, tun es aber nicht.
4 but bind burdens heavy and hard to bear, and lay them on the shoulders of men, but will not move them with their finger.
Sie binden aber schwere und unerträgliche Lasten, und legen sie den Menschen auf die Schultern, aber mit ihrem Finger wollen sie dieselben nicht anregen.
5 And all their works they do to be seen of men: for they make broad their phylacteries and enlarge the borders [of their garments],
Alle ihre Werke tun sie aber, daß sie von den Leuten gesehen werden. Denn sie machen ihre Denkzettel breit und die Quasten ihrer Gewänder groß,
6 and love the chief place in feasts and the first seats in the synagogues,
Sie lieben den obersten Platz bei den Gastmählern, und die obersten Stühle in den Synagogen.
7 and salutations in the market-places, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.
Und die Begrüßungen auf den Straßen, und daß sie von den Leuten Rabbi, Rabbi, genannt werden.
8 But ye, be not ye called Rabbi; for one is your instructor, and all ye are brethren.
Ihr aber sollt euch nicht Rabbi nennen lassen, denn Einer ist euer Meister; ihr alle aber seid Brüder.
9 And call not [any one] your father upon the earth; for one is your Father, he who is in the heavens.
Und sollt niemand euern Vater nennen auf Erden, denn Einer ist euer Vater, der in den Himmeln ist.
10 Neither be called instructors, for one is your instructor, the Christ.
Auch sollt ihr euch nicht Führer nennen lassen, denn euer Führer ist Einer, der Messias.
11 But the greatest of you shall be your servant.
Der Größere aber von euch sei euer Diener.
12 And whoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled, and whoever shall humble himself shall be exalted.
Wer sich aber selbst erhöhet, der wird erniedrigt werden, und wer sich selbst erniedrigt, wird erhöhet werden.
13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men; for ye do not enter, nor do ye suffer those that are entering to go in.
Wehe euch, Schriftgelehrte und Pharisäer, Heuchler! daß ihr die Himmelsherrschaft zuschließt vor den Menschen; denn ihr gehet nicht hinein, und die hineingehen wollen, die lasset ihr nicht hineingehen.
Wehe euch, Schriftgelehrte und Pharisäer, Heuchler! daß ihr die Häuser der Witwen fresset, und als Deckmantel lange betet; darum werdet ihr ein um so schärferes Urteil empfangen. -
15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye compass the sea and the dry [land] to make one proselyte, and when he is become [such], ye make him twofold more [the] son of hell than yourselves. (Geenna g1067)
Wehe euch, Schriftgelehrte und Pharisäer, Heuchler! daß ihr das Meer und das Trockene durchziehet, um einen Judengenossen zu machen, und wenn er es geworden ist, so macht ihr ihn zu einem Sohne (Erben) des Tales Hinnom zwiefältig mehr, denn ihr seid. - (Geenna g1067)
16 Woe to you, blind guides, who say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor.
Wehe euch, blinde Wegweiser! die ihr saget: Wenn einer bei dem Tempel schwört, das ist nichts; wer aber bei dem Golde des Tempels schwört, der ist verpflichtet.
17 Fools and blind, for which is greater, the gold, or the temple which sanctifies the gold?
Narren und Blinde! denn was ist größer, das Gold, oder der Tempel, der das Gold heiligt?
18 And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gift that is upon it is a debtor.
Und: Wenn einer bei dem Altar schwört, das ist nichts; wer aber bei dem Opfer schwört, das darauf ist, der ist verpflichtet.
19 [Fools and] blind ones, for which is greater, the gift, or the altar which sanctifies the gift?
Narren und Blinde! was ist größer, das Opfer, oder der Altar, der das Opfer heiligt?
20 He therefore that swears by the altar swears by it and by all things that are upon it.
Wer nun schwört bei dem Altar, der schwört bei ihm und allem, was auf ihm ist.
21 And he that swears by the temple swears by it and by him that dwells in it.
Und wer da schwört bei dem Tempel, der schwört bei ihm und bei dem, der darinnen wohnt.
22 And he that swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by him that sits upon it.
Und wer da schwört bei dem Himmel, der schwört bei dem Throne Gottes und bei dem, der darauf sitzt. -
23 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye pay tithes of mint and anise and cummin, and ye have left aside the weightier matters of the law, judgment and mercy and faith: these ye ought to have done and not have left those aside.
Wehe euch, Schriftgelehrte und Pharisäer, Heuchler! daß ihr verzehntet die Münze und den Anis und den Kümmel, und lasset weg das schwerere des Gesetztes: Das Recht und das Erbarmen und die Treue; dies sollte man tun und jenes nicht lassen.
24 Blind guides, who strain out the gnat, but drink down the camel.
Blinde Wegweiser! die ihr die Mücken herausfischt, das Kamel aber hinuntertrinkt. -
25 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the dish, but within they are full of rapine and intemperance.
26 Blind Pharisee, make clean first the inside of the cup and of the dish, that their outside also may become clean.
27 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye are like whited sepulchres, which appear beautiful outwardly, but within are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness.
Wehe euch, Schriftgelehrte und Pharisäer, Heuchler! daß ihr gleich seid den übertünchten Grüften, welche zwar von außen schön erscheinen, inwendig aber voller Totenbeine und aller Unreinigkeiten sind.
28 Thus also ye, outwardly ye appear righteous to men, but within are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
Also auch ihr; von außen zwar scheint ihr den Menschen gerecht, inwendig aber seid ihr voll Heuchelei und Gesetzwidrigkeit. -
29 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets and adorn the tombs of the just,
Wehe euch, Schriftgelehrte und Pharisäer, Heuchler! daß ihr die Gräber der Propheten bauet, und schmücket die Denkmale der Gerechten.
30 and ye say, If we had been in the days of our fathers we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.
Und sprechet: Wenn wir in den Tagen unserer Väter gewesen wären, so würden wir nicht mit ihnen teilhaftig geworden sein am Blute der Propheten.
31 So that ye bear witness of yourselves that ye are sons of those who slew the prophets:
Damit gebet ihr euch selbst das Zeugnis, daß ihr Söhne der Prophetenmörder seid.
32 and ye, fill ye up the measure of your fathers.
Und ihr, macht nur das Maß eurer Väter voll!
Ihr Schlangen und Otterngezüchte! Wie wollt ihr dem Gericht des Tal Hinnom entfliehen? (Geenna g1067)
34 Therefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and [some] of them ye will kill and crucify, and [some] of them ye will scourge in your synagogues, and will persecute from city to city;
Darum siehe, ich sende euch Propheten und Weise und Schriftgelehrte, und von ihnen werdet ihr töten und kreuzigen, und von ihnen in euern Synagogen geißeln, und von einer Stadt zur andern verfolgen,
35 so that all righteous blood shed upon the earth should come upon you, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.
Auf daß über euch komme alles gerechte Blut, das auf Erden vergossen ist, von dem Blute des gerechten Abels an, bis zu dem Blute Zacharias, der Sohnes Barachias, welchen ihr getötet habt zwischen dem Tempel und dem Altar.
36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
Wahrlich ich sage euch, das wird alles kommen auf dieses Geschlecht!
37 Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [the city] that kills the prophets and stones those that are sent unto her, how often would I have gathered thy children as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
Jerusalem! Jerusalem! die du tötest die Propheten, und steinigest, die zu dir gesandt sind, wie oft habe ich deine Kinder versammeln wollen, gleich wie eine Henne ihre Küchlein versammelt unter ihre Flügel; und ihr habt nicht gewollt.
38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate;
Siehe, euer Haus wird euch wüste gelassen werden.
39 for I say unto you, Ye shall in no wise see me henceforth until ye say, Blessed [be] he that comes in the name of [the] Lord.
Denn ich sage euch: Ihr werdet mich von jetzt an nicht mehr sehen, bis ihr sprechet: Gesegnet sei, der da kommt im Namen des Herrn!
