Matthew 20
1 For the kingdom of the heavens is like a householder who went out with the early morn to hire workmen for his vineyard.
“কারণ স্বর্গরাজ্য এমন এক গৃহকর্তার মতো, যিনি তাঁর দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেতে কর্মী নিয়োগের জন্য ভোরবেলা বাইরে গেলেন।
2 And having agreed with the workmen for a denarius the day, he sent them into his vineyard.
কর্মীদের দৈনিক এক দিনার পারিশ্রমিক দিতে সম্মত হয়ে তাদের তিনি নিজের দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেতে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন।
3 And having gone out about [the] third hour, he saw others standing in the market-place idle;
“সকাল নয়টার সময় তিনি বাইরে গিয়ে দেখলেন, আরও কিছু মানুষ বাজারে নিষ্কর্মা অবস্থায় দাঁড়িয়ে আছে।
4 and to them he said, Go also ye into the vineyard, and whatsoever may be just I will give you. And they went their way.
তিনি তাদের বললেন, ‘তোমরাও গিয়ে আমার দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেতে কাজ করো, যা ন্যায়সংগত তা আমি তোমাদের দেব।’
5 Again, having gone out about the sixth and ninth hour, he did likewise.
তাতে তারাও গেল। “বেলা বারোটার সময় ও বিকেল তিনটের সময় তিনি আবার বাইরে গিয়ে সেরকম করলেন।
6 But about the eleventh [hour], having gone out, he found others standing, and says to them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
বিকেল প্রায় পাঁচটার সময় তিনি বাইরে গিয়ে দেখলেন, আরও কয়েকজন দাঁড়িয়ে আছে। তিনি তাদের জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, ‘তোমরা কেন এখানে সমস্ত দিন নিষ্কর্মা অবস্থায় দাঁড়িয়ে আছ?’
7 They say to him, Because no man has hired us. He says to them, Go also ye into the vineyard [and whatsoever may be just ye shall receive].
“তারা উত্তর দিল, ‘কারণ কেউই আমাদের কাজে লাগায়নি।’ “তিনি তাদের বললেন, ‘তোমরাও গিয়ে আমার দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেতে কাজ করো।’
8 But when the evening was come, the lord of the vineyard says to his steward, Call the workmen and pay [them] their wages, beginning from the last even to the first.
“পরে সন্ধ্যা হলে, দ্রাক্ষাক্ষেতের মালিক তাঁর নায়েবকে ডেকে বললেন, ‘সব কর্মীকে ডেকে শেষের জন থেকে শুরু করে প্রথমজন পর্যন্ত প্রত্যেককে তাদের মজুরি দিয়ে দাও।’
9 And when they [who came to work] about the eleventh hour came, they received each a denarius.
“বিকেল পাঁচটায় যাদের নিয়োগ করা হয়েছিল, তারা এসে সকলে এক দিনার করে পেল।
10 And when the first came, they supposed that they would receive more, and they received also themselves each a denarius.
তখন যাদের সর্বপ্রথমে নিযুক্ত করা হয়েছিল, তারা এসে আরও বেশি পারিশ্রমিক আশা করল। কিন্তু তারা প্রত্যেকে এক দিনার করেই পেল।
11 And on receiving it they murmured against the master of the house,
তারা তা পেয়ে গৃহকর্তার বিরুদ্ধে অসন্তোষ প্রকাশ করতে লাগল।
12 saying, These last have worked one hour, and thou hast made them equal to us, who have borne the burden of the day and the heat.
তারা বলল, ‘এই লোকেরা, যাদের বিকেল পাঁচটায় নিয়োগ করা হয়েছিল, তারা তো কেবলমাত্র এক ঘণ্টা কাজ করেছে। আর আমরা যারা সমস্ত দিনের কাজের ভারবহন করে রোদের তাপে পুড়েছি, আপনি কি না আমাদের সমান মজুরি তাদের দিলেন।’
13 But he answering said to one of them, [My] friend, I do not wrong thee. Didst thou not agree with me for a denarius?
“কিন্তু তিনি তাদের একজনকে উত্তর দিলেন, ‘বন্ধু, আমি তোমার প্রতি কোনও অবিচার করিনি। তুমি কি এক দিনারের বিনিময়ে কাজ করতে সম্মত হওনি?
14 Take what is thine and go. But it is my will to give to this last even as to thee:
তোমার পাওনা নিয়ে চলে যাও। আমার ইচ্ছা আমি শেষে নিয়োগ করা লোকটিকেও তোমার সমানই মজুরি দেব।
15 is it not lawful for me to do what I will in my own affairs? Is thine eye evil because I am good?
আমার অর্থ নিজের ইচ্ছামতো ব্যবহার করার কি অধিকার আমার নেই? না, আমি সদয় বলে তুমি ঈর্ষাকাতর হয়ে পড়েছ?’
16 Thus shall the last be first, and the first last; for many are called ones, but few chosen ones.
“এভাবেই শেষের জন প্রথম হবে ও প্রথমের জন শেষে পড়বে।”
17 And Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples with [him] apart in the way, and said to them,
এসময় যীশু যখন জেরুশালেমের পথে যাচ্ছিলেন, তিনি সেই বারোজন শিষ্যকে এক পাশে ডেকে বললেন,
18 Behold we go up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man will be delivered up to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death;
“আমরা জেরুশালেম পর্যন্ত যাচ্ছি, আর মনুষ্যপুত্রকে প্রধান যাজকদের ও শাস্ত্রবিদদের হাতে সমর্পণ করা হবে। তারা তাঁকে মৃত্যুদণ্ডে দণ্ডিত করবে
19 and they will deliver him up to the nations to mock and to scourge and to crucify, and the third day he shall rise again.
ও অইহুদিদের হাতে তুলে দেবে। তারা তাঁকে বিদ্রুপ করবে ও চাবুক দিয়ে মারার এবং ক্রুশার্পিত হওয়ার জন্য তাঁকে সমর্পণ করবে। কিন্তু তৃতীয় দিনে তিনি মৃত্যু থেকে পুনরুত্থিত হবেন।”
20 Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee, with her sons, doing homage, and asking something of him.
পরে সিবদিয়ের দুই পুত্রের মা তাদের নিয়ে যীশুর কাছে এলেন এবং নতজানু হয়ে তাঁর কাছে এক প্রার্থনা চাইলেন।
21 And he said to her, What wilt thou? She says to him, Speak [the word] that these my two sons may sit, one on thy right hand and one on thy left in thy kingdom.
তিনি জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “তুমি কী চাও?” তিনি বললেন, “অনুমতি দিন যেন আপনার রাজ্যে আমার এক ছেলে আপনার ডানদিকে ও অন্যজন বাঁদিকে বসতে পায়।”
22 And Jesus answering said, Ye know not what ye ask. Can ye drink the cup which I am about to drink? They say to him, We are able.
যীশু তাদের বললেন, “তোমরা কী চাইছ, তা তোমরা বোঝো না। আমি যে পানপাত্রে পান করি, তাতে কি তোমরা পান করতে পারো?” তারা উত্তর দিলেন, “আমরা পারি।”
23 [And] he says to them, Ye shall drink indeed my cup, but to sit on my right hand and on [my] left, is not mine to give, but to those for whom it is prepared of my Father.
যীশু তাদের বললেন, “তোমরা সত্যিই আমার পানপাত্র থেকে পান করবে, কিন্তু আমার ডানদিকে বা বাঁদিকে বসার অনুমতি আমি দিতে পারি না। আমার পিতা যাদের জন্য তা নির্ধারিত করেছেন, এই স্থানগুলিতে কেবলমাত্র তারাই বসতে পারবে।”
24 And the ten, having heard [of it], were indignant about the two brothers.
অন্য দশজন একথা শুনে সেই দুই ভাইয়ের প্রতি রুষ্ট হলেন।
25 But Jesus having called them to [him], said, Ye know that the rulers of the nations exercise lordship over them, and the great exercise authority over them.
যীশু তাদের সকলকে কাছে ডেকে বললেন, “তোমরা জানো, পরজাতীয়দের শাসকেরা তাদের উপরে প্রভুত্ব করে, আবার তাদের উচ্চপদাধিকারীরাও তাদের উপরে কর্তৃত্ব করে।
26 It shall not be thus amongst you, but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your servant;
তোমাদের ক্ষেত্রে সেরকম হবে না। বরং, কেউ যদি তোমাদের মধ্যে মহান হতে চায়, তাকে অবশ্যই তোমাদের দাস হতে হবে।
27 and whosoever will be first among you, let him be your bondman;
আর কেউ যদি প্রধান হতে চায়, তাকে অবশ্যই তোমাদের ক্রীতদাস হতে হবে।
28 as indeed the Son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.
যেমন মনুষ্যপুত্রও সেবা পেতে আসেননি, কিন্তু সেবা করতে ও অনেকের পরিবর্তে নিজের প্রাণ মুক্তিপণস্বরূপ দিতে এসেছেন।”
29 And as they went out from Jericho a great crowd followed him.
যীশু ও তাঁর শিষ্যেরা যখন যিরীহো ছেড়ে যাচ্ছিলেন, অনেক লোক তাঁকে অনুসরণ করল।
30 And lo, two blind men, sitting by the wayside, having heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out saying, Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David.
দুজন অন্ধ মানুষ পথের পাশে বসেছিল। তারা যখন শুনল, যীশু সেই পথ দিয়ে যাচ্ছেন, তারা চিৎকার করে বলল, “প্রভু, দাউদ-সন্তান, আমাদের প্রতি কৃপা করুন!”
31 But the crowd rebuked them, that they might be silent. But they cried out the more, saying, Have mercy on us, Lord, Son of David.
লোকেরা তাদের ধমক দিয়ে শান্ত থাকতে বলল, কিন্তু তারা আরও জোরে চিৎকার করতে লাগল, “প্রভু, দাউদ-সন্তান, আমাদের প্রতি কৃপা করুন!”
32 And Jesus, having stopped, called them and said, What will ye that I shall do to you?
যীশু পথ চলা থামিয়ে তাদের ডাকলেন। তিনি জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “তোমরা কী চাও, আমি তোমাদের জন্য কী করব?”
33 They say to him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
তারা উত্তর দিল, “প্রভু, আমরা দৃষ্টিশক্তি পেতে চাই।”
34 And Jesus, moved with compassion, touched their eyes; and immediately their eyes had sight restored to them, and they followed him.
যীশু তাদের প্রতি করুণায় পূর্ণ হয়ে তাদের চোখ স্পর্শ করলেন। সঙ্গে সঙ্গে তারা দৃষ্টিশক্তি লাভ করল ও তাঁকে অনুসরণ করতে লাগল।
