Malachi 3
1 Behold, I send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me; and the Lord whom ye seek will suddenly come to his temple, and the Angel of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he cometh, saith Jehovah of hosts.
« Voici, j'envoie mon messager, et il préparera le chemin devant moi! Le Seigneur, que vous cherchez, viendra soudain dans son temple. Voici que vient le messager de l'alliance que tu désires, dit Yahvé des armées.
2 But who shall endure the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? For he will be like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' lye.
« Mais qui pourra supporter le jour de son avènement? Et qui résistera quand il paraîtra? Car il est comme le feu d'un raffineur, et comme le savon d'un blanchisseur.
3 And he shall sit [as] a refiner and purifier of silver; and he will purify the children of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver; and they shall offer unto Jehovah an oblation in righteousness.
Il s'assiéra comme un raffineur et un purificateur d'argent, et il purifiera les fils de Lévi, il les affinera comme l'or et l'argent, et ils offriront à Yahvé des offrandes en justice.
4 Then shall the oblation of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto Jehovah, as in the days of old, and as in former years.
Alors l'offrande de Juda et de Jérusalem sera agréable à l'Éternel comme aux jours d'autrefois et comme dans les années passées.
5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against the false swearers, and against those that oppress the hired servant in [his] wages, the widow and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger [from his right], and fear not me, saith Jehovah of hosts.
Je m'approcherai de vous pour vous juger. Je serai un témoin rapide contre les sorciers, contre les adultères, contre les parjures, contre ceux qui oppriment le mercenaire dans son salaire, la veuve et l'orphelin, et qui privent l'étranger de justice, et ne me craignent pas », dit Yahvé des armées.
6 For I Jehovah change not, and ye, sons of Jacob, are not consumed.
« Car moi, Yahvé, je ne change pas; c'est pourquoi vous, fils de Jacob, vous n'êtes pas consumés.
7 Since the days of your fathers have ye departed from my statutes, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith Jehovah of hosts. But ye say, Wherein shall we return?
Depuis les jours de vos pères, vous vous êtes détournés de mes ordonnances et vous ne les avez pas gardées. Revenez à moi, et je reviendrai à vous », dit Yahvé des armées. Mais vous dites: « Comment reviendrons-nous?
8 Will a man rob God? But ye rob me. And ye say, Wherein do we rob thee? [In] tithes and heave-offerings.
Un homme volera-t-il Dieu? Mais vous me volez, moi! Mais vous dites: « Comment vous avons-nous volé? En payant la dîme et les offrandes.
9 Ye are cursed with a curse; and me ye rob, [even] this whole nation.
Vous êtes frappés de malédiction, car vous me dépouillez, vous, toute cette nation.
10 Bring the whole tithe into the treasure-house, that there may be food in my house, and prove me now herewith, saith Jehovah of hosts, if I open not to you the windows of the heavens, and pour you out a blessing, till there be no place for it.
Apportez toute la dîme dans le grenier, afin qu'il y ait de la nourriture dans ma maison, et mettez-moi maintenant à l'épreuve, dit l'Éternel des armées, si je ne vous ouvre pas les fenêtres du ciel, et si je ne vous déverse pas une bénédiction qu'il n'y aura pas assez de place pour elle.
11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast its fruit before the time in the field, saith Jehovah of hosts.
Je réprimanderai le dévoreur à cause de vous, et il ne détruira pas les fruits de votre sol; votre vigne ne jettera pas son fruit avant son temps dans le champ, dit Yahvé des armées.
12 And all nations shall call you blessed; for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith Jehovah of hosts.
« Toutes les nations te diront bienheureux, car tu seras un pays de délices », dit Yahvé des armées.
13 Your words have been stout against me, saith Jehovah; but ye say, What have we been speaking against thee?
Vos paroles ont été dures à mon égard, dit l'Éternel.
14 Ye say, It is vain to serve God; and what profit is it that we keep his charge, and that we walk mournfully before Jehovah of hosts?
Vous avez dit: « C'est en vain que l'on sert Dieu », et « Quel avantage y a-t-il à suivre ses instructions et à marcher dans le deuil devant l'Éternel des armées?
15 And now we hold the proud for happy; yea, they that work wickedness are built up; yea, they tempt God, and they escape.
Maintenant, nous appelons les orgueilleux heureux; oui, ceux qui font le mal sont édifiés; oui, ils tentent Dieu, et ils échappent.''
16 Then they that feared Jehovah spoke often one to another; and Jehovah observed [it], and heard, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared Jehovah, and that thought upon his name.
Alors ceux qui craignaient l'Éternel se parlèrent entre eux; et l'Éternel écouta et entendit, et un livre de souvenir fut écrit devant lui pour ceux qui craignaient l'Éternel et qui honoraient son nom.
17 And they shall be unto me a peculiar treasure, saith Jehovah of hosts, in the day that I prepare; and I will spare them as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
Ils seront à moi, dit l'Éternel des armées, ma propriété, au jour que je ferai. Je les épargnerai, comme un homme épargne son propre fils qui le sert.
18 And ye shall return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.
Alors vous reviendrez et vous discernerez entre le juste et le méchant, entre celui qui sert Dieu et celui qui ne le sert pas.
