Luke 4
1 But Jesus, full of [the] Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan, and was led by the Spirit in the wilderness
Or Jésus rempli de l'Esprit saint revint d'auprès du Jourdain, et il était conduit par l'esprit dans le désert,
2 forty days, tempted of the devil; and in those days he did not eat anything, and when they were finished he hungered.
étant pendant quarante jours tenté par le diable. Et il ne mangeait rien durant ces jours-là, et lorsqu'ils furent terminés il eut faim.
3 And the devil said to him, If thou be Son of God, speak to this stone, that it become bread.
Mais le diable lui dit: « Si tu es fils de Dieu, dis à cette pierre-ci qu'elle devienne du pain. »
4 And Jesus answered unto him saying, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
Et Jésus lui répliqua: « Il est écrit que ce n'est pas de pain seulement que l'homme vivra. »
5 And [the devil], leading him up into a high mountain, shewed him all the kingdoms of the habitable world in a moment of time.
Et l'ayant emmené, il lui montra tous les royaumes de la terre en un seul instant;
6 And the devil said to him, I will give thee all this power, and their glory; for it is given up to me, and to whomsoever I will I give it.
et le diable lui dit: « Je te donnerai toute cette puissance et leur gloire, car elle m'a été remise, et je la donne à qui je veux;
7 If therefore thou wilt do homage before me, all [of it] shall be thine.
si donc tu te prosternes devant moi, elle sera toute à toi. »
8 And Jesus answering him said, It is written, Thou shalt do homage to [the] Lord thy God, and him alone shalt thou serve.
Et Jésus lui répliqua: « Il est écrit: C'est le Seigneur ton Dieu que tu adoreras, et c'est à Lui seul que tu rendras un culte. »
9 And he led him to Jerusalem, and set him on the edge of the temple, and said to him, If thou be Son of God, cast thyself down hence;
Et il le conduisit à Jérusalem et il le posa sur l'aile du temple, et il lui dit: « Si tu es fils de Dieu, jette-toi d'ici en bas,
10 for it is written, He shall give charge to his angels concerning thee to keep thee;
car il est écrit que Il donnera pour toi des ordres à Ses anges, afin qu'ils te protègent,
11 and on [their] hands shall they bear thee, lest in any wise thou strike thy foot against a stone.
et que ils te porteront sur leurs mains, de peur que tu ne heurtes ton pied contre une pierre. »
12 And Jesus answering said to him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt [the] Lord thy God.
Et Jésus lui répliqua: « Il a été dit: Tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur ton Dieu. »
13 And the devil, having completed every temptation, departed from him for a time.
Et le diable ayant épuisé toute espèce de tentation s'éloigna de lui jusques à une autre occasion.
14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee; and a rumour went out into the whole surrounding country about him;
Et Jésus, animé de la puissance de l'Esprit, revint en Galilée, et sa renommée se répandit dans toute la contrée voisine.
15 and he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
Et lui-même enseignait dans leurs synagogues, et il était loué de tous.
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he was brought up; and he entered, according to his custom, into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up to read.
Et il vint à Nazareth, où il avait été élevé, et il entra selon sa coutume le jour du sabbat dans la synagogue, et il se leva pour faire la lecture.
17 And [the] book of the prophet Esaias was given to him; and having unrolled the book he found the place where it was written,
Et on lui remit le livre du prophète Ésaïe, et ayant ouvert le livre il trouva le passage où il était écrit:
18 [The] Spirit of [the] Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach glad tidings to [the] poor; he has sent me to preach to captives deliverance, and to [the] blind sight, to send forth [the] crushed delivered,
« L'esprit du Seigneur est sur moi; c'est pourquoi Il m'a oint afin d'annoncer une bonne nouvelle aux pauvres; Il m'a envoyé pour proclamer aux captifs l'élargissement, et aux aveugles le recouvrement de la vue, pour renvoyer les blessés soulagés,
19 to preach [the] acceptable year of [the] Lord.
pour proclamer une favorable année du Seigneur. »
20 And having rolled up the book, when he had delivered it up to the attendant, he sat down; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon him.
Et ayant replié le livre, il le rendit à l'employé, et s'assit; et les regards de tous ceux qui se trouvaient dans la synagogue étaient fixés sur lui.
21 And he began to say to them, To-day this scripture is fulfilled in your ears.
Et il commença à leur parler en ces termes: « Aujourd'hui ce passage s'est accompli à vos oreilles. »
22 And all bore witness to him, and wondered at the words of grace which were coming out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this the son of Joseph?
Et tous témoignaient en sa faveur, et s'émerveillaient des paroles pleines de grâce qui sortaient de sa bouche, et ils disaient: « Celui-ci n'est-il pas le fils de Joseph? »
23 And he said to them, Ye will surely say to me this parable, Physician, heal thyself; whatsoever we have heard has taken place in Capernaum do here also in thine own country.
Mais il leur dit: « Sans doute vous m'appliquerez ce proverbe: Médecin, guéris-toi toi-même; fais aussi ici dans ta patrie tout ce que nous avons appris qui s'est fait à Capharnaoum. »
24 And he said, Verily I say to you, that no prophet is acceptable in his [own] country.
Mais il ajouta: « En vérité je vous déclare qu'aucun prophète n'est bien reçu dans sa patrie;
25 But of a truth I say to you, There were many widows in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up for three years and six months, so that a great famine came upon all the land,
mais c'est avec vérité que je vous dis que du temps d'Élie il y avait beaucoup de veuves en Israël, lorsque le ciel fut fermé pendant trois ans et six mois, en sorte qu'une grande famine eut lieu sur toute la terre,
26 and to none of them was Elias sent but to Sarepta of Sidonia, to a woman [that was] a widow.
et Élie ne fut envoyé vers aucune d'elles, sauf auprès d'une veuve de Sarepta dans le pays de Sidon.
27 And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed but Naaman the Syrian.
Et il y avait beaucoup de lépreux en Israël du temps d'Elisée le prophète, et aucun d'eux ne fut nettoyé, sauf Naaman le syrien. »
28 And they were all filled with rage in the synagogue, hearing these things;
Et ils furent tous remplis de courroux dans la synagogue en entendant ces paroles,
29 and rising up they cast him forth out of the city, and led him up to the brow of the mountain upon which their city was built, so that they might throw him down the precipice;
et s'étant levés, ils l'expulsèrent de la ville, et ils l'emmenèrent jusques au bord de la montagne sur laquelle leur ville était bâtie, de manière à le précipiter.
30 but he, passing through the midst of them, went his way,
Mais lui, étant passé au milieu d'eux, poursuivait sa route.
31 and descended to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbaths.
Et il descendit à Capharnaoum, ville de Galilée, et il les enseignait le jour du sabbat;
32 And they were astonished at his doctrine, for his word was with authority.
et ils étaient stupéfaits de son enseignement, parce que sa parole était pleine d'autorité.
33 And there was in the synagogue a man having a spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried with a loud voice,
Et dans la synagogue se trouvait un homme possédé de l'esprit d'un démon impur, et il s'écria à voix haute:
34 saying, Eh! what have we to do with thee, Jesus, Nazarene? hast thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy [One] of God.
« Ah! qu'y a-t-il de commun entre nous et toi, Jésus Nazarénien? Es-tu venu pour nous faire périr? Je sais qui tu es: le saint de Dieu. »
35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out from him. And the demon, having thrown him down into the midst, came out from him without doing him any injury.
Et Jésus le réprimanda en disant: « Tais-toi, et sors de lui! » Et le démon l'ayant jeté tout au milieu sortit de lui, sans lui avoir fait aucun mal.
36 And astonishment came upon all, and they spoke to one another, saying, What word [is] this? for with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.
Et tous furent saisis d'épouvante, et ils se disaient les uns aux autres: « Quelle est cette parole? Car il commande avec autorité et puissance aux esprits impurs, et ils sortent? »
37 And a rumour went out into every place of the country round concerning him.
Et le bruit de sa renommée se répandait dans tous les lieux d'alentour.
38 And rising up out of the synagogue, he entered into the house of Simon. But Simon's mother-in-law was suffering under a bad fever; and they asked him for her.
Mais ayant quitté la synagogue il entra dans la maison de Simon; or la belle-mère de Simon était prise d'une grosse fièvre, et ils le consultèrent à son sujet.
39 And standing over her, he rebuked the fever, and it left her; and forthwith standing up she served them.
Et s'étant placé au-dessus d'elle, il réprimanda la fièvre et elle la quitta; or aussitôt s'étant levée, elle les servait.
40 And when the sun went down, all, as many as had persons sick with divers diseases, brought them to him, and having laid his hands on every one of them, he healed them;
Or, comme le soleil se couchait, tous ceux qui avaient des malades atteints de diverses maladies les lui amenèrent; et imposant les mains à chacun d'eux, il les guérit.
41 and demons also went out from many, crying out and saying, Thou art the Son of God. And rebuking them, he suffered them not to speak, because they knew him to be the Christ.
Mais des démons sortaient aussi de plusieurs d'entre eux, en criant et en disant: « Tu es le fils de Dieu. » Et les réprimandant, il ne leur permettait pas de parler, parce qu'ils savaient qu'il était le Christ.
42 And when it was day he went out, and went into a desert place, and the crowds sought after him, and came up to him, and [would have] kept him back that he should not go from them.
Mais quand le jour eut paru, il sortit pour se rendre dans un lieu désert, et la foule le cherchait, et elle vint jusques à lui, et elle le retenait pour qu'il ne s'éloignât pas d'eux.
43 But he said to them, I must needs announce the glad tidings of the kingdom of God to the other cities also, for for this I have been sent forth.
Mais il leur dit: « Il faut que j'annonce aussi à d'autres villes la bonne nouvelle du royaume de Dieu, car c'est pour cela que j'ai été envoyé. »
44 And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.
Et il prêchait dans les synagogues de la Judée.
