Luke 22
1 Now the feast of unleavened bread, which [is] called the passover, drew nigh,
Cependant approchait la fête des azymes, qu’on appelle Pâque.
2 and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill him; for they feared the people.
Et les princes des prêtres et les scribes cherchaient comment ils pourraient faire mourir Jésus; mais ils craignaient le peuple.
3 And Satan entered into Judas, who was surnamed Iscariote, being of the number of the twelve.
Or Satan entra dans Judas, qui était surnommé Iscariote, l’un des douze.
4 And he went away and spoke with the chief priests and captains as to how he should deliver him up to them.
Et il s’en alla, et il conféra avec les princes des prêtres et les magistrats comment il le leur livrerait.
5 And they were rejoiced, and agreed to give him money.
Et ils se réjouirent, et convinrent de lui donner de l’argent.
6 And he came to an agreement to do it, and sought an opportunity to deliver him up to them away from the crowd.
Il s’engagea donc. Et dès lors il cherchait l’occasion de le livrer en l’absence du peuple.
7 And the day of unleavened bread came, in which the passover was to be killed.
Cependant vint le jour des azymes, où il était nécessaire d’immoler la pâque.
8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare the passover for us, that we may eat [it].
Jésus donc envoya Pierre et Jean, disant; Allez nous préparer la pâque, afin que nous la mangions.
9 But they said to him, Where wilt thou that we prepare [it]?
Mais eux lui demandèrent: Où voulez-vous que nous la préparions?
10 And he said to them, Behold, as ye enter into the city a man will meet you, carrying an earthen pitcher of water; follow him into the house where he goes in;
Et il leur répondit: Voici qu’entrant dans la ville, vous rencontrerez un homme portant une cruche d’eau; suivez-le dans la maison où il entrera;
11 and ye shall say to the master of the house, The Teacher says to thee, Where is the guest-chamber where I may eat the passover with my disciples?
Et vous direz au père de famille de la maison: Le maître vous dit: Où est le lieu où je pourrai manger la pâque avec mes disciples?
12 And he will shew you a large upper room furnished: there make ready.
Et il vous montrera un grand cénacle meublé; faites-y les préparatifs.
13 And having gone they found it as he had said to them; and they prepared the passover.
S’en allant donc, ils trouvèrent comme il leur avait dit, et ils préparèrent la pâque.
14 And when the hour was come, he placed himself at table, and the [twelve] apostles with him.
Et quand l’heure fut venue, il se mit à table, et les douze apôtres avec lui.
15 And he said to them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer.
Et il leur dit: J’ai désiré d’un grand désir de manger cette pâque avec vous, avant de souffrir.
16 For I say unto you, that I will not eat any more at all of it until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
Car je vous le dis, je ne la mangerai plus désormais, jusqu’à ce qu’elle soit accomplie dans le royaume de Dieu.
17 And having received a cup, when he had given thanks he said, Take this and divide it among yourselves.
Et ayant pris le calice, il rendit grâces, et dit: Prenez, et partagez entre vous,
18 For I say unto you, that I will not drink at all of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God come.
Car, je vous le dis, je ne boirai plus du fruit de la vigne, jusqu’à ce que le royaume de Dieu vienne.
19 And having taken a loaf, when he had given thanks, he broke [it], and gave [it] to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.
Et ayant pris du pain, il rendit grâces et le rompit, et le leur donna, disant: Ceci est mon corps, qui est donné pour vous: faites ceci en mémoire de moi.
20 In like manner also the cup, after having supped, saying, This cup [is] the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
Il donna de la même manière le calice, après qu’il eut soupé, disant: C’est le calice, le nouveau testament en mon sang, qui sera répandu pour vous.
21 Moreover, behold, the hand of him that delivers me up [is] with me on the table;
Cependant, voici que la main de celui qui me trahit est avec moi à cette table.
22 and the Son of man indeed goes as it is determined, but woe unto that man by whom he is delivered up.
Pour ce qui est du Fils de l’homme, il s’en va, selon ce qui a été déterminé; mais malheur à cet homme par qui il sera trahi!
23 And they began to question together among themselves who then it could be of them who was about to do this.
Et ils commencèrent à se demander l’un à l’autre, qui était celui d’entre eux qui devait faire cela.
24 And there was also a strife among them which of them should be held to be [the] greatest.
Il s’éleva aussi parmi eux une contestation, lequel d’entre eux devait être estimé le plus grand.
25 And he said to them, The kings of the nations rule over them, and they that exercise authority over them are called benefactors.
Mais il leur dit: Les rois des nations les dominent, et ceux qui ont puissance sur elles sont appelés bienfaiteurs.
26 But ye [shall] not [be] thus; but let the greater among you be as the younger, and the leader as he that serves.
Pour vous, ne faites pas ainsi; mais que celui qui est le plus grand parmi vous, soit comme le moindre, et celui qui a la préséance, comme celui qui sert.
27 For which [is] greater, he that is at table or he that serves? [Is] not he that is at table? But I am in the midst of you as the one that serves.
Car lequel est le plus grand, celui qui est à table, ou celui qui sert? N’est-ce pas celui qui est à table? Or, moi, je suis au milieu de vous, comme celui qui sert.
28 But ye are they who have persevered with me in my temptations.
C’est vous qui êtes demeurés avec moi dans mes tentations.
29 And I appoint unto you, as my Father has appointed unto me, a kingdom,
Aussi moi, je vous prépare le royaume, comme mon Père me l’a préparé;
30 that ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Afin que vous mangiez et buviez à ma table dans mon royaume, et que vous siégiez sur des trônes, pour juger les douze tribus d’Israël.
31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded to have you, to sift [you] as wheat;
Le Seigneur dit encore: Simon, Simon, voilà que Satan vous a demandés pour vous cribler, comme le froment;
32 but I have besought for thee that thy faith fail not; and thou, when once thou hast been restored, confirm thy brethren.
Mais j’ai prié pour toi, afin que ta foi ne défaille point; et toi, quand tu seras converti, confirme tes frères.
33 And he said to him, Lord, with thee I am ready to go both to prison and to death.
Pierre lui dit: Seigneur, je suis prêt à aller avec vous, et en prison, et à la mort.
34 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, [the] cock shall not crow to-day before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.
Mais il lui répliqua: Je te le dis, Pierre, un coq aujourd’hui ne chantera point, que trois fois tu n’aies nié me connaître. Il leur dit ensuite:
35 And he said to them, When I sent you without purse and scrip and sandals, did ye lack anything? And they said, Nothing.
Quand je vous ai envoyés sans sac, sans bourse et sans chaussure, quelque chose vous a-t-il manqué?
36 He said therefore to them, But now he that has a purse let him take [it], in like manner also a scrip, and he that has none let him sell his garment and buy a sword;
Ils répondirent: Rien. Il ajouta donc: Mais maintenant, que celui qui a un sac ou une bourse, les prenne; et que celui qui n’en a point, vende sa tunique, et achète une épée.
37 for I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned with [the] lawless: for also the things concerning me have an end.
Car, je vous le dis, il faut que ceci encore qui a été écrit, s’accomplisse en moi: Il a été mis au rang des scélérats. Car ce qui me regarde touche à sa fin.
38 And they said, Lord, behold here are two swords. And he said to them, It is enough.
Mais eux lui dirent: Seigneur, voici deux épées. Il leur répondit: C’est assez.
39 And going forth he went according to his custom to the mount of Olives, and the disciples also followed him.
Et étant sorti, il alla, selon sa coutume, à la montagne des Oliviers; et ses disciples le suivirent.
40 And when he was at the place he said to them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.
Lorsqu’il fut arrivé à son lieu accoutumé, il leur dit: Priez, de peur que vous n’entriez en tentation.
41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw, and having knelt down he prayed,
Puis il s’éloigna d’eux à la distance d’un jet de pierre; et, s’étant mis à genoux, il priait,
42 saying, Father, if thou wilt remove this cup from me: — but then, not my will, but thine be done.
Disant: Mon Père, si vous le voulez, éloignez ce calice de moi; cependant que ma volonté ne se fasse pas, mais la vôtre.
43 And an angel appeared to him from heaven strengthening him.
Alors lui apparut un ange du ciel, le fortifiant; et étant tombé en agonie, il priait encore plus.
44 And being in conflict he prayed more intently. And his sweat became as great drops of blood, falling down upon the earth.
Et il lui vint une sueur, comme des gouttes de sang découlant jusqu’à terre.
45 And rising up from his prayer, coming to the disciples, he found them sleeping from grief.
Et, s’étant levé de sa prière, il vint à ses disciples, et les trouva endormis par suite de leur tristesse.
46 And he said to them, Why sleep ye? rise up and pray that ye enter not into temptation.
Et il leur dit: Pourquoi dormez-vous? Levez-vous, priez, de peur que vous n’entriez en tentation.
47 As he was yet speaking, behold, a crowd, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went on before them, and drew near to Jesus to kiss him.
Jésus parlant encore, voici venir une troupe, et celui qui s’appelait Judas, l’un des douze, la précédait; et il s’approcha de Jésus pour le baiser.
48 And Jesus said to him, Judas, deliverest thou up the Son of man with a kiss?
Mais Jésus lui dit: Judas, c’est par un baiser que tu trahis le Fils de l’homme!
49 And they who were around him, seeing what was going to follow, said [to him], Lord, shall we smite with [the] sword?
Or ceux qui étaient autour de lui, voyant ce qui allait arriver, lui dirent: Seigneur, si nous frappions de l’épée?
50 And a certain one from among them smote the bondman of the high priest and took off his right ear.
Et l’un d’eux frappa le serviteur du grand prêtre, et lui coupa l’oreille droite.
51 And Jesus answering said, Suffer thus far; and having touched his ear, he healed him.
Mais Jésus prenant la parole, dit: Arrêtez-vous là. Et ayant touché son oreille, il le guérit.
52 And Jesus said to the chief priests and captains of the temple and elders, who were come against him, Have ye come out as against a robber with swords and sticks?
Puis Jésus dit à ceux qui étaient venus vers lui, princes des prêtres, magistrats du temple et anciens: Vous êtes sortis comme contre un voleur, avec des épées et des bâtons;
53 When I was day by day with you in the temple ye did not stretch out your hands against me; but this is your hour and the power of darkness.
Quand j’étais tous les jours avec vous dans le temple, vous n’avez pas mis la main sur moi; mais voici votre heure et la puissance des ténèbres.
54 And having laid hold on him, they led him [away], and they led [him] into the house of the high priest. And Peter followed afar off.
Se saisissant donc de lui, ils l’amenèrent à la maison du grand prêtre; mais Pierre le suivait de loin.
55 And they having lit a fire in the midst of the court and sat down together, Peter sat among them.
Or un feu ayant été allumé au milieu de la cour, et eux s’étant assis autour, Pierre se trouvait au milieu d’eux.
56 And a certain maid, having seen him sitting by the light, and having fixed her eyes upon him, said, And this [man] was with him.
Une servante l’ayant vu assis devant le feu, et l’ayant regardé, dit: Celui-ci aussi était avec cet homme.
57 But he denied [him], saying, Woman, I do not know him.
Mais Pierre le nia, disant: Femme, je ne le connais point.
58 And after a short time another seeing him said, And thou art of them. But Peter said, Man, I am not.
Et peu après, un autre le voyant, dit: Toi aussi, tu es de ces gens-là. Mais Pierre dit: Homme, je n’en suis point.
59 And after the lapse of about one hour another stoutly maintained it, saying, In truth this [man] also was with him, for also he is a Galilaean.
Et un intervalle d’environ une heure s’étant écoulé, un autre l’affirmait, disant: Vraiment, celui-ci aussi était avec lui; car il est également Galiléen.
60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately, while he was yet speaking, [the] cock crew.
Et Pierre dit: Homme, je ne sais ce que tu dis. Et aussitôt, lui parlant encore, un coq chanta.
61 And the Lord, turning round, looked at Peter; and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he said to him, Before [the] cock crow thou shalt deny me thrice.
Et le Seigneur se retournant, regarda Pierre. Et Pierre se ressouvint de la parole du Seigneur, lorsqu’il lui avait dit; Avant qu’un coq chante, tu me renieras trois fois.
62 And Peter, going forth without, wept bitterly.
Et Pierre étant sorti, pleura amèrement.
63 And the men who held him mocked him, beating [him];
Et ceux qui tenaient Jésus le raillaient et le déchiraient de coups.
64 and covering him up, asked him saying, Prophesy, who is it that struck thee?
Puis, lui ayant bandé les yeux, ils le frappaient au visage, et l’interrogeaient, disant: Prophétise qui est celui qui t’a frappé?
65 And they said many other injurious things to him.
Et blasphémant ainsi, ils disaient beaucoup d’autres choses contre lui.
66 And when it was day, the elderhood of the people, both [the] chief priests and scribes, were gathered together, and led him into their council, saying,
Lorsque le jour se fit, les anciens du peuple, les princes des prêtres et les scribes s’assemblèrent, et le firent venir dans leur conseil, disant: Si tu es le Christ, dis-le-nous.
67 If thou art the Christ, tell us. And he said to them, If I tell you, ye will not at all believe;
Il leur répondit: Si je vous le dis, vous ne me croirez pas;
68 and if I should ask [you], ye would not answer me at all, nor let me go;
Et si je vous interroge, vous ne me répondrez pas, ni ne me renverrez.
69 but henceforth shall the Son of man be sitting on the right hand of the power of God.
Mais désormais le Fils de l’homme sera assis à la droite de la puissance de Dieu.
70 And they all said, Thou then art the Son of God? And he said to them, Ye say that I am.
Alors ils dirent tous: Tu es donc le Fils de Dieu? Et Jésus répondit: Vous le dites, je le suis.
71 And they said, What need have we any more of witness, for we have heard ourselves out of his mouth?
Et eux repartirent: Qu’avons-nous besoin d’autre témoignage? Car nous-mêmes nous l’avons entendu de sa propre bouche.
