Lamentations 3
1 I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.
Yo soy el hombre que ha experimentado la aflicción bajo la vara de la ira de (Dios).
2 Me hath he led, and brought into darkness, and not into light.
Me llevó y me hizo andar en tinieblas, y no en luz.
3 Surely against me hath he turned again and again his hand all the day.
No cesa de volver contra mí su mano todo el día.
4 My flesh and my skin hath he wasted away, he hath broken my bones.
Ha consumido mi carne y mi piel, ha roto mis huesos;
5 He hath built against me, and encompassed [me] with gall and toil.
ha construido contra mí, me ha cercado de amargura y dolor.
6 He hath made me to dwell in dark places as those that have been long dead.
Me colocó en lugar tenebroso, como los muertos de ya hace tiempo.
7 He hath hedged me about that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.
Me tiene rodeado por todos lados, y no puedo salir; me ha cargado de pesadas cadenas.
8 Even when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.
GUIMEL. Aun cuando clamo y pido auxilio obstruye Él mi oración.
9 He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.
GUIMEL. Cierra mi camino con piedras sillares, trastorna mis senderos.
10 He is unto me [as] a bear lying in wait, a lion in secret places.
Fue para mí como oso en acecho, como león en emboscada;
11 He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces; he hath made me desolate.
torció mis caminos y me destrozó, me convirtió en desolación;
12 He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.
tendió su arco, y me hizo blanco de sus saetas.
13 He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.
Clavó en mi hígado las hijas de su aljaba;
14 I am become a derision to all my people; their song all the day.
soy el escarnio de todo mi pueblo, su cantilena diaria.
15 He hath sated me with bitterness, he hath made me drunk with wormwood.
Me hartó de angustias, me embriagó de ajenjo.
16 He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.
Me quebró los dientes con cascajo, me sumergió en cenizas.
17 And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I have forgotten prosperity.
Alejaste de mi alma la paz; no sé ya lo que es felicidad;
18 And I said, My strength is perished, and my hope in Jehovah.
por eso dije: “Pereció mi gloria y mi esperanza en Yahvé.”
19 Remember thou mine affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and the gall.
Acuérdate de mí aflicción y de mi inquietud, del ajenjo y de la amargura.
20 My soul hath [them] constantly in remembrance, and is humbled in me.
Mi alma se acuerda sin cesar y está abatida dentro de mí;
21 — This I recall to heart, therefore have I hope.
meditando en esto recobro esperanza.
22 It is of Jehovah's loving-kindness we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not;
HET. Es por la misericordia de Yahvé que no hayamos perecido, porque nunca se acaban sus piedades.
23 they are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
HET. Se renuevan cada mañana; grande es tu fidelidad.
24 Jehovah is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
“Yahvé es mi porción, dice mi alma, por eso espero en Él.”
25 Jehovah is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul [that] seeketh him.
Bueno es Yahvé para quien en Él espera, para el que le busca.
26 It is good that one should both wait, and that in silence, for the salvation of Jehovah.
Bueno es aguardar en silencio la salvación de Yahvé.
27 It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth:
Bueno es para el hombre llevar el yugo desde su juventud.
28 He sitteth solitary and keepeth silence, because he hath laid it upon him;
Siéntese aparte en silencio, pues (Dios) se lo ha impuesto;
29 he putteth his mouth in the dust, if so be there may be hope;
ponga en el polvo su boca; quizá haya esperanza;
30 he giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him; he is filled full with reproach.
ofrezca la mejilla al que le hiere, hártese de oprobio.
31 For the Lord will not cast off for ever;
Porque no para siempre desecha el Señor;
32 but if he have caused grief, he will have compassion according to the multitude of his loving-kindnesses:
después de afligir usa de misericordia según la multitud de sus piedades;
33 for he doth not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men.
pues no de buena gana humilla El, ni aflige a los hijos de los hombres.
34 To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth,
¿Acaso el Señor no está viendo cómo son pisoteados todos los cautivos de la tierra?
35 to turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High,
¿Cómo se tuerce el derecho de un hombre ante la faz del Altísimo?
36 to wrong a man in his cause, — will not the Lord see it?
¿Cómo se hace injusticia a otro en su causa?
37 Who is he that saith, and there cometh to pass, what the Lord hath not commanded?
¿Quién puede decir algo, y esto se realiza sin la orden de Yahvé?
38 Out of the mouth of the Most High doth not there proceed evil and good?
¿No proceden de la boca del Altísimo los males y los bienes?
39 Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?
¿Por qué se queja el hombre viviente? (Quéjese) más bien de sus propios pecados.
40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to Jehovah.
“Examinemos y escudriñemos nuestros caminos y convirtámonos a Yahvé.
41 Let us lift up our heart with [our] hands unto God in the heavens.
Alcemos nuestro corazón, con nuestras manos, a Dios en el cielo.
42 We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.
Hemos pecado, y hemos sido rebeldes; Tú no has perdonado.
43 Thou hast covered thyself with anger, and pursued us; thou hast slain, thou hast not spared.
Te cubriste de tu ira y nos perseguiste, mataste sin piedad;
44 Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that prayer should not pass through.
pusiste una nube delante de Ti para que no penetrase la oración;
45 Thou hast made us the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the peoples.
nos convertiste en desecho y basura en medio de las naciones.
46 All our enemies have opened their mouth against us.
Abren contra nosotros su boca todos nuestros enemigos;
47 Fear and the pit are come upon us, devastation and ruin.
nos amenazan el terror y la fosa, la devastación y la ruina;
48 Mine eye runneth down with streams of water for the ruin of the daughter of my people.
Mis ojos derraman ríos de agua por el quebranto de la hija de mi pueblo.
49 Mine eye poureth down, and ceaseth not, without any intermission,
Se deshacen mis ojos sin cesar en continuo llanto,
50 till Jehovah look down and behold from the heavens.
hasta que Yahvé levante la vista y mire desde el cielo.
51 Mine eye affecteth my soul, because of all the daughters of my city.
Mis ojos me consumen el alma por todas las hijas de mi ciudad.
52 They that are mine enemies without cause have chased me sore like a bird.
Como a ave me dieron caza los que me odian sin motivo,
53 They have cut off my life in a pit, and cast a stone upon me.
me encerraron en la cisterna, pusieron sobre mí la losa,
54 Waters streamed over my head; I said, I am cut off.
las aguas subieron por encima de mi cabeza, y dije: “Perdido estoy.”
55 I called upon thy name, Jehovah, out of the lowest pit.
Desde lo más profundo de la fosa invoqué tu nombre;
56 Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my sighing, at my cry.
Tú oíste mi voz. ¡No cierres tus oídos a mis suspiros, a mis clamores!
57 Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee; thou saidst, Fear not.
Cuando te invoqué te acercaste y dijiste: “No temas.”
58 Lord, thou hast pleaded the cause of my soul, thou hast redeemed my life.
Tú, Señor, defendiste mi alma, salvaste mi vida,
59 Jehovah, thou hast seen my wrong: judge thou my cause.
Tú ves, oh Yahvé, mi opresión; hazme justicia;
60 Thou hast seen all their vengeance, all their imaginations against me.
ves todos sus deseos de venganza, todas sus maquinaciones contra mí.
61 Thou hast heard their reproach, O Jehovah, all their imaginations against me;
Tú, oh Yahvé, oíste todos sus insultos, todas sus tramas contra mí,
62 the lips of those that rise up against me and their meditation against me all the day.
las palabras de mis enemigos, y cuanto maquinan contra mí siempre.
63 Behold thou their sitting down and their rising up: I am their song.
Mira, cuando se sientan y cuando se levantan, soy yo el objeto de sus canciones.
64 Render unto them a recompence, O Jehovah, according to the work of their hands;
Tú les darás, oh Yahvé, su merecido, conforme a la obra de sus manos.
65 give them obduracy of heart, thy curse unto them;
Cegarás su corazón, los (cubrirás) con tu maldición;
66 pursue them in anger, and destroy them from under the heavens of Jehovah.
los perseguirás con furor y los destruirás debajo del cielo, oh Yahvé.
