Judges 20
1 And all the children of Israel went forth, and the assembly gathered together as one man, from Dan to Beer-sheba, and the land of Gilead, unto Jehovah at Mizpah.
Entonces todos los hijos de Israel tomaron las armas, y la gente se unió como un solo hombre, desde Dan hasta Beerseba, y la tierra de Galaad, delante del Señor en Mizpa.
2 And the heads of all the people, of all the tribes of Israel, presented themselves in the congregation of the people of God, four hundred thousand footmen that drew sword.
Y los jefes del pueblo, de todas las tribus de Israel, tomaron sus lugares en la reunión del pueblo de Dios, cuatrocientos mil a pie armados con espadas.
3 And the children of Benjamin heard that the children of Israel had gone up to Mizpah. And the children of Israel said, Tell [us], how was this wickedness?
Ahora los hijos de Benjamín tuvieron noticia de que los hijos de Israel habían subido a Mizpa. Y los hijos de Israel dijeron: Aclaren cómo ocurrió esta maldad.
4 Then the Levite, the husband of the woman that was murdered, answered and said, I came to Gibeah that [belongs] to Benjamin, I and my concubine, to lodge.
Entonces el levita, el marido de la mujer muerta, respondió: Vine a Guibeá en la tierra de Benjamín, yo y mi concubina, con el propósito de detenerme allí esa noche.
5 And the citizens of Gibeah rose against me, and surrounded the house because of me, by night; they thought to slay me, and my concubine have they humbled so that she died.
Y los hombres de la ciudad de Guibeá se juntaron contra mí, dando vueltas por la casa de noche por todos lados; Su propósito era hacerme morir, y mi concubina fue violentamente violada por ellos y está muerta.
6 Then I took my concubine, and cut her in pieces, and sent her throughout the country of the inheritance of Israel; for they have committed lewdness and villany in Israel.
Así que tomé mi concubina y la corte en partes, que envié por todo el país de la herencia de Israel, porque han hecho un acto de depravación y vergüenza en Israel.
7 Behold, all ye, children of Israel, deliberate and give here [your] counsel.
Aquí están todos, hijos de Israel; Da ahora tus sugerencias sobre lo que se debe hacer.
8 And all the people rose up as one man, saying, We will not any one go to his tent, neither will we any one turn into his house.
Entonces toda la gente se levantó como un solo hombre y dijo: Ninguno de nosotros irá a su casa ni ninguno de nosotros regresará a su casa.
9 But now this is the thing which we will do to Gibeah: [we go] by lot against it;
Pero esto es lo que haremos con Guibea: enfrentaremos la decisión del Señor;
10 and we will take ten men of a hundred throughout all the tribes of Israel, and a hundred of a thousand, and a thousand of ten thousand, to fetch victuals for the people, that they may do, when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin, according to all the villany that they have wrought in Israel.
Y sacaremos a diez hombres de cada cien, a través de todas las tribus de Israel, a cien de cada mil, a mil de cada diez mil, para obtener comida para el pueblo, para que puedan dar a Guibea de Benjamín el castigo correcto por el acto de vergüenza que han hecho en Israel.
11 And all the men of Israel were gathered against the city, knit together as one man.
Entonces todos los hombres de Israel estaban agrupados contra el pueblo, unidos como un solo hombre.
12 And the tribes of Israel sent men to all the families of Benjamin, saying, What wickedness is this that has been done among you?
Y las tribus de Israel enviaron hombres por toda la tribu de Benjamín, diciendo: ¿Qué es este mal que se ha hecho entre ustedes?
13 And now give up the men, the sons of Belial, who are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away evil from Israel. But [the children of] Benjamin would not hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel.
Ahora, entreganos a esos perversos en Guibeá para que podamos darles muerte, limpiando el mal de Israel. Pero los hijos de Benjamín no escucharon la voz de sus hermanos, los hijos de Israel.
14 And the children of Benjamin gathered themselves together out of the cities of Gibeah, to go out to battle against the children of Israel.
Y los hijos de Benjamín vinieron de todos sus pueblos a Guibeá para ir a la guerra con los hijos de Israel.
15 And the children of Benjamin were numbered at that time out of the cities, twenty-six thousand men that drew sword, besides the inhabitants of Gibeah, who were numbered seven hundred chosen men.
Y los hijos de Benjamín que vinieron ese día de las ciudades eran veintiséis mil hombres armados con espadas, además de la gente de Guibea, que contaban con setecientos hombres de guerra.
16 Among all this people there were seven hundred chosen men left-handed; all these slang stones at a hair [breadth], and missed not.
Quienes eran zurdos, podían enviar una piedra a un caballo sin error.
17 And the men of Israel, besides Benjamin, were numbered four hundred thousand men that drew sword: all these were men of war.
Y los hombres de Israel, aparte de Benjamín, eran cuatrocientos mil en total, todos armados con espadas; Todos eran hombres de guerra.
18 And the children of Israel arose and went up to Bethel, and inquired of God, and said, Which of us shall go up first to the battle against the children of Benjamin? And Jehovah said, Judah first.
Se levantaron y subieron a Betel para recibir instrucciones de Dios, y los hijos de Israel dijeron: ¿Quién será el primero en subir a la lucha contra los hijos de Benjamín? Y él Señor dijo: Judá debe subir primero.
19 And the children of Israel rose up in the morning and encamped against Gibeah.
Entonces los hijos de Israel se levantaron por la mañana y se pusieron en posición contra Guibeá.
20 And the men of Israel went out to battle against Benjamin; and the men of Israel put themselves in array to fight against them at Gibeah.
Y los hombres de Israel salieron a la guerra contra Benjamín y los hombres de Israel pusieron sus fuerzas en orden de combate contra ellos en Guibea.
21 And the children of Benjamin went forth out of Gibeah, and destroyed to the ground of the Israelites that day twenty-two thousand men.
Entonces los hijos de Benjamín salieron de Guibeá y cortaron a veintidós mil israelitas ese día.
22 And the people, the men of Israel, took courage, and set the battle again in array in the place where they put themselves in array the first day.
Pero el pueblo, los hombres de Israel, reavivados, pusieron sus fuerzas en orden y tomaron la misma posición que el primer día.
23 And the children of Israel went up and wept before Jehovah until even, and inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go up again to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother? And Jehovah said, Go up against him.
Entonces subieron los hijos de Israel, llorando delante del Señor hasta la tarde, pidiéndole al Señor y diciendo: ¿Debo avanzar nuevamente en la lucha contra los hijos de mi hermano Benjamín? Y el Señor dijo: Sube contra él.
24 And the children of Israel came near against the children of Benjamin the second day.
Los hijos de Israel avanzaron contra los hijos de Benjamín el segundo día.
25 And Benjamin went forth against them out of Gibeah the second day, and again destroyed to the ground of the children of Israel eighteen thousand men: all these drew the sword.
Y el segundo día, Benjamín salió contra ellos desde Guibea, derribando a dieciocho mil hombres de los hijos de Israel, todos espadachines.
26 Then all the children of Israel, and all the people, went up and came to Bethel, and wept, and abode there before Jehovah, and fasted that day until even, and offered up burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before Jehovah.
Entonces todos los hijos de Israel y todo el pueblo subieron a Betel, llorando y esperando allí delante del Señor, en ayuno todo el día hasta la tarde, y ofreciendo ofrendas quemadas y ofrendas de paz delante del Señor.
27 And the children of Israel inquired of Jehovah (and the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,
Y los hijos de Israel hicieron una petición al Señor, (porque el cofre del pacto del Señor estaba allí en aquellos días,
28 and Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, stood before it in those days), saying, Shall I yet again go out to battle against the children of Benjamin my brother, or shall I cease? And Jehovah said, Go up; for to-morrow I will give them into thy hand.
Y Finees, el hijo de Eleazar, el hijo de Aarón, ministraba delante del pacto del Señor, y le dijo: ¿Todavía tengo que continuar con la lucha contra los hijos de mi hermano Benjamín, o nos damos por vencidos? Y el Señor dijo: Sube; Para mañana los entregaré en tus manos.
29 And Israel set liers in wait against Gibeah, round about.
Entonces Israel puso a los hombres en secreto alrededor de Guibea para hacer un ataque sorpresa.
30 And the children of Israel went up against the children of Benjamin on the third day, and put themselves in array against Gibeah, as at the other times.
Y los hijos de Israel subieron contra los hijos de Benjamín al tercer día, y se pusieron en orden de lucha contra Guibeá como antes.
31 And the children of Benjamin went out against the people, and were drawn away from the city, and began to smite of the people, slaying as at the former times, in the highways, of which one leads to Bethel and the other to Gibeah in the field, about thirty men of Israel.
Y salieron los hijos de Benjamín contra el pueblo, alejándose del pueblo; y como antes, en su primer ataque, mataron a unos treinta hombres de Israel en las carreteras, de las cuales una sube a Betel y la otra a Guibeá, y en el campo abierto.
32 And the children of Benjamin said, They are smitten down before us, as at the first. And the children of Israel said, Let us flee, that we may draw them from the city to the highways.
Y los hijos de Benjamín dijeron: Están cediendo ante nosotros como al principio. Pero los hijos de Israel dijeron: Vamos a volar y alejarlos de la ciudad, a las carreteras.
33 And all the men of Israel rose up out of their place, and put themselves in array at Baal-Tamar; and the ambush of Israel rushed forth out of their place, out of the meadows of Geba.
Entonces todos los hombres de Israel se levantaron y se pusieron en orden de combate en Baal-tamar; y los que habían estado esperando en secreto para hacer un ataque sorpresa salieron de su lugar al oeste de Guibea.
34 And there came from opposite Gibeah ten thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was severe; but they knew not that disaster was coming upon them.
Y vinieron delante de Guibea, diez mil de los mejores hombres de todo Israel, y la lucha se hizo más violenta; pero los hijos de Benjamín no estaban conscientes de que el mal venía sobre ellos.
35 And Jehovah smote Benjamin before Israel; and the children of Israel destroyed of the Benjaminites that day twenty-five thousand one hundred men: all these drew the sword.
Entonces el Señor venció a Benjamín delante de Israel; y aquel día los hijos de Israel mataron a veinticinco mil cien hombres de Benjamín, todos ellos espadachines.
36 And the children of Benjamin saw that they were smitten. — And the men of Israel gave place to Benjamin, because they trusted to the ambush that they had set against Gibeah.
Entonces los hijos de Benjamín vieron que habían sido vencidos; y los hombres de Israel habían cedido campo a Benjamín, poniendo su fe en las emboscadas que debían atacar por sorpresa a Guibeá.
37 And the ambush hasted, and fell upon Gibeah; and the ambush drew along, and smote the whole city with the edge of the sword.
Y los vigilantes de las emboscadas en Guibeá apresurándose, pusieron a toda la ciudad a filo de espada sin piedad.
38 Now there was an appointed sign between the men of Israel and the ambush, that they should make a thick column of smoke rise up out of the city.
Ahora, la señal entre los hombres de Israel y los que estaban realizando el ataque sorpresa fue que hicieran subir una columna de humo en el pueblo cuando hubieran tomado el pueblo.
39 And when the men of Israel turned back in the battle, Benjamin began to smite, slaying of the men of Israel about thirty men; for they said, Surely they are quite routed before us as in the first battle.
Los hombres de Israel debían hacer un giro en la lucha Y Benjamín había vencido y matado a una treintena de hombres de Israel, y decía: Ciertamente están retrocediendo ante nosotros como en la primera pelea.
40 And when the burning began to rise up out of the city as a pillar of smoke, Benjamin looked behind, and behold, the whole city ascended [in smoke] to the heavens.
Luego la nube salió del pueblo en la columna de humo, y los Benjamitas, volviéndose atrás, vieron que las llamas subían y el humo de toda la ciudad subía al cielo.
41 Then the men of Israel turned back, and the men of Benjamin were amazed, for they saw that disaster was come upon them.
Y los hombres de Israel habían dado la vuelta, y los hombres de Benjamín fueron vencidos por el temor, porque vieron que el mal los había alcanzado.
42 And they turned before the men of Israel to the way of the wilderness; but the battle overtook them; and those who came out of the cities destroyed them in their midst.
Volviendo la espalda a los hombres de Israel, fueron en dirección al desierto; pero no podían escapar; y los que salieron de la ciudad les cortaban el paso y los mataban.
43 They encompassed the Benjaminites, chased them, trode them down at the resting-place over against Gibeah toward the sun-rising.
Y aplastando a Benjamín, fueron tras ellos, llevándolos desde Menuha hasta el lado este de Guibea.
44 And there fell of Benjamin eighteen thousand men: all these, men of valour.
Dieciocho mil hombres de Benjamín vinieron a su muerte, todos fuertes hombres de guerra.
45 And they turned and fled towards the wilderness to the cliff of Rimmon, and they gleaned of them in the highways five thousand men; and pursued hard after them to Gidom, and slew two thousand men of them.
Y girando, huyeron a la roca de Rimón en el desierto, y en los caminos, cinco mil de ellos fueron cortados por los hombres de Israel, quienes, empujando con fuerza después de ellos hasta Guidon, los mataron, y dos mil más.
46 So that all who fell that day of Benjamin were twenty-five thousand men that drew the sword: all these, men of valour.
Entonces, veinticinco mil espadachines de Benjamín llegaron a su fin ese día, todos eran hombres de guerra fuertes.
47 And six hundred men turned and fled to the wilderness to the cliff of Rimmon, and abode at the cliff of Rimmon four months.
Pero seiscientos hombres, volviéndose atrás, se fueron a la peña de Rimón en el desierto, y vivieron en la peña de Rimón durante cuatro meses.
48 And the men of Israel turned again upon the children of Benjamin, and smote them with the edge of the sword, as well the men of [every] city as the cattle, and all that was found; even all the cities that were found did they set on fire.
Y los hombres de Israel, volviéndose contra los hijos de Benjamín, pusieron a la espada sin piedad todos los pueblos y el ganado y todo lo que había, quemando cada pueblo que les tocó.
