Judges 16
1 And Samson went to Gazah, and saw there a harlot, and went in to her.
ഒരു ദിവസം ശിംശോൻ ഗസ്സായിലേക്കുപോയി അവിടെ ഒരു വേശ്യയെ കണ്ടുമുട്ടി, ആ രാത്രി അവളോടൊപ്പം ചെലവഴിക്കുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടിപ്പോയി.
2 [And it was told] the Gazathites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they surrounded [him], and laid wait for him all night at the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning light we will kill him.
“ശിംശോൻ ഇവിടെ വന്നിരിക്കുന്നു!” എന്നു ഗസ്സായിലുള്ളവർക്ക് അറിവുകിട്ടി; അവർ അവിടം വളഞ്ഞു. അദ്ദേഹത്തെ പിടിക്കാൻ ആ രാത്രിമുഴുവൻ നഗരകവാടത്തിൽ പതിയിരുന്നു. “നേരം വെളുക്കുമ്പോൾ നമുക്ക് അയാളെ കൊല്ലാം,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് രാത്രിമുഴുവനും അവർ അനങ്ങാതിരുന്നു.
3 And Samson lay till midnight; and he arose at midnight, and seized the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and tore them up with the bar, and put [them] upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of the mountain that is before Hebron.
എന്നാൽ ശിംശോൻ അവിടെ അർധരാത്രിവരെമാത്രം കിടന്നശേഷം, എഴുന്നേറ്റ് പട്ടണകവാടത്തിന്റെ കതകുകൾ കട്ടിളക്കാൽ രണ്ടുംകൂടെ പറിച്ചെടുത്ത്, വെവ്വേറെയാക്കി തോളിൽവെച്ച് ഹെബ്രോനുനേരേയുള്ള മലമുകളിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.
4 And it came to pass afterwards that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.
ചില നാളുകൾക്കുശേഷം സോരേക് താഴ്വരയിൽ ദലീല എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു സ്ത്രീയുമായി അദ്ദേഹം സ്നേഹത്തിലായി.
5 And the lords of the Philistines came up to her, and said to her, Persuade him, and see in what his great strength is, and with what we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to overpower him; and we will each give thee eleven hundred silver-pieces.
ഫെലിസ്ത്യപ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ അവളുടെ അടുത്തുചെന്ന്, “നീ അയാളെ വശീകരിച്ച് അയാളുടെ മഹാശക്തി ഏതിൽനിന്ന് എന്ന് ഗ്രഹിച്ച്, ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് അയാളെ പിടിച്ചുകെട്ടി കീഴടക്കാൻ എങ്ങനെ സാധിക്കും എന്നു മനസ്സിലാക്കണം. എങ്കിൽ ഞങ്ങൾ ഓരോരുത്തരും നിനക്ക് ആയിരത്തി ഒരുനൂറു ശേക്കേൽ വെള്ളിവീതം തരാം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
6 Then Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, in what is thy great strength, and with what thou mightest be bound to overpower thee.
അങ്ങനെ ദലീല ശിംശോനോടു ചോദിച്ചു: “അങ്ങയുടെ മഹാശക്തിയുടെ രഹസ്യമെന്താണ്? അങ്ങയെ എങ്ങനെ ബന്ധിച്ച് കീഴടക്കാം എന്നു ദയവായി എന്നോടു പറയുക.”
7 And Samson said to her, If they should bind me with seven fresh cords which have not been dried, then should I be weak, and be as another man.
ശിംശോൻ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: “ഉണങ്ങാത്ത പുതിയ ഏഴു ഞാണുകൊണ്ട് എന്നെ ബന്ധിച്ചാൽ എന്റെ ബലം ക്ഷയിച്ച് ഞാൻ മറ്റുമനുഷ്യരെപ്പോലെ ആകും.”
8 Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven fresh cords which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.
ഫെലിസ്ത്യപ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ ഉണങ്ങാത്ത ഏഴു പുതിയ ഞാൺ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന് അവൾക്കുകൊടുത്തു. അവൾ അവകൊണ്ട് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ബന്ധിച്ചു.
9 Now she had liers in wait abiding in the chamber; and she said to him, The Philistines are upon thee, Samson! And he broke the cords, as a thread of tow is broken when it touches the fire; and his strength was not known.
ഉൾമുറിയിൽ അവൾ ആളുകളെ ഒളിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു. പിന്നെ അവൾ ശിംശോനോട് പറഞ്ഞു: “ശിംശോനേ, ഇതാ ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ വരുന്നു!” എന്നാൽ അദ്ദേഹം, തീ ചണനൂലിനെ എന്നപോലെ ഞാണുകളെ പൊട്ടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു. ഇതുമൂലം അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ശക്തിയുടെ രഹസ്യം വെളിവായതുമില്ല.
10 And Delilah said to Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me and told me lies. Now tell me, I pray thee, with what thou mightest be bound.
പിന്നെ ദലീല ശിംശോനോട്, “അങ്ങ് എന്നെ കബളിപ്പിച്ചു; എന്നോടു നുണ പറഞ്ഞു; അങ്ങയെ ഏതിനാൽ കീഴടക്കാം എന്ന് ഇപ്പോൾ എനിക്ക് പറഞ്ഞുതരണം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
11 And he said to her, If they should bind me fast with new ropes, with which no work has been done, then should I be weak, and be as another man.
അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു: “മുമ്പൊരിക്കലും ഉപയോഗിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ഒരു പുതിയ കയർകൊണ്ട് എന്നെ ബന്ധിച്ചാൽ എന്റെ ബലം ക്ഷയിച്ച് ഞാൻ മറ്റുള്ളവരെപ്പോലെ ആകും.”
12 And Delilah took new ropes, and bound him with them, and said to him, The Philistines are upon thee, Samson! Now there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he broke them from off his arms like a thread.
ദലീല ഒരു പുതിയ കയർകൊണ്ട് അവനെ ബന്ധിച്ചു; ഉൾമുറിയിൽ പതിയിരിപ്പുകാരെ ഇരുത്തിയിട്ട് അവൾ ശിംശോനോട് പറഞ്ഞു: “ശിംശോനേ, ഇതാ ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ വരുന്നു!” എന്നാൽ അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ കൈയിൽ കെട്ടിയിരുന്ന കയർ ഒരു നൂൽപോലെ പൊട്ടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
13 And Delilah said to Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me and told me lies. Tell me with what thou mightest be bound. And he said to her, If thou shouldest weave the seven locks of my head with the web.
ദലീല ശിംശോനോട് പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇതുവരെ അങ്ങ് എന്നെ കബളിപ്പിച്ചു. എന്നോട് നുണ പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങയെ എങ്ങനെ ബന്ധിക്കാമെന്ന് എന്നോടു പറയണം.” അദ്ദേഹം മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: “എന്റെ തലയിലെ ഏഴു ജട നൂൽപ്പാവിൽച്ചേർത്ത് ആണിയുറപ്പിച്ച് നെയ്താൽ ഞാൻ മറ്റുമനുഷ്യരെപ്പോലെ ബലഹീനനായിത്തീരും.” അങ്ങനെ, അദ്ദേഹം ഉറങ്ങിയപ്പോൾ ദലീല അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ തലയിലെ ഏഴു ജടയെടുത്ത്
14 And she fastened it with the pin, and said to him, The Philistines are upon thee, Samson! And he awoke out of his sleep, and tore out the pin of the beam, and the web.
പാവിനോടുചേർത്തു നെയ്ത് ആണികൊണ്ട് ഉറപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. വീണ്ടും അവൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു: “ശിംശോനേ, ഇതാ ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ വരുന്നു!” അദ്ദേഹം ഉറക്കമുണർന്ന് ആണിയും തറിയും നൂൽപ്പാവും പറിച്ചെടുത്തുകളഞ്ഞു.
15 Then she said to him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thy heart is not with me? these three times hast thou mocked me, and hast not told me in what is thy great strength.
അപ്പോൾ അവൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തോട്: “അങ്ങ് എന്നെ വിശ്വസിക്കാതെ, ‘ഞാൻ നിന്നെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നു’ എന്ന് എന്നോട് എങ്ങനെ പറയാൻകഴിയും? ഈ മൂന്നുപ്രാവശ്യവും അങ്ങ് എന്നെ വഞ്ചിച്ചു; അങ്ങയുടെ മഹാശക്തിയുടെ രഹസ്യം ഏതിലാണ് എന്ന് എനിക്കു പറഞ്ഞുതന്നില്ലല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
16 And it came to pass when she pressed him daily with her words and urged him, that his soul was vexed unto death;
ഇങ്ങനെ അവൾ ദിവസംതോറും ബുന്ധിമുട്ടിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ അസഹ്യപ്പെടുത്തി; ആ അലട്ടൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ, മരിച്ചാൽമതി എന്ന ചിന്തയിൽ എത്തിച്ചു.
17 and he told her all his heart, and said to her, There has not come a razor upon my head; for I am a Nazarite of God from my mother's womb; if I should be shaven, then my strength would go from me, and I should be weak, and be like all mankind.
അങ്ങനെ അദ്ദേഹം സകലരഹസ്യവും അവളെ അറിയിച്ചു. “ക്ഷൗരക്കത്തി എന്റെ തലയിൽ വെച്ചിട്ടില്ല; ഞാൻ ഗർഭംമുതൽ ദൈവത്തിനായി വേർതിരിക്കപ്പെട്ട നാസീർവ്രതസ്ഥനാണ്. ക്ഷൗരംചെയ്താൽ എന്റെ ബലം എന്നെ വിട്ടുപോകുകയും ഞാൻ മറ്റാരെയുംപോലെ ദുർബലനായിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്യും.”
18 And Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, and she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this time, for he has told me all his heart. And the lords of the Philistines came up to her, and brought the money in their hand.
ശിംശോൻ തന്റെ സകലരഹസ്യവും തന്നെ അറിയിച്ചു എന്നു ദലീല കണ്ടപ്പോൾ, അവൾ ഫെലിസ്ത്യപ്രഭുക്കന്മാർക്ക് ആളയച്ചു: “ഇന്നു വരിക, അദ്ദേഹം സകലവും എന്നെ അറിയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറയിച്ചു. ഫെലിസ്ത്യപ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ അവളുടെ അടുക്കൽവന്നു; വെള്ളിയും കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരുന്നു.
19 And she made him sleep upon her knees, and called a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to overpower him, and his strength went from him.
അവൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ മടിയിൽക്കിടത്തി ഉറക്കി, ഒരാളെ വിളിപ്പിച്ച് തലയിലെ ഏഴു ജടയും ക്ഷൗരംചെയ്തുനീക്കി. അങ്ങനെ അവൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ ഒതുക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി; ശക്തി അദ്ദേഹത്തെ വിട്ടകന്നിരുന്നു.
20 And she said, The Philistines are upon thee, Samson! And he awoke out of his sleep, and thought, I will go out as at other times before, and disengage myself. And he knew not that Jehovah had departed from him.
പിന്നെ അവൾ വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു: “ശിംശോനേ, ഇതാ ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ വരുന്നു!” ഉടനെ അദ്ദേഹം ഉറക്കമുണർന്നു. “ഞാൻ മുമ്പിലത്തെപ്പോലെ കുടഞ്ഞു രക്ഷപ്പെടും” എന്നു ചിന്തിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ, യഹോവ തന്നെ വിട്ടുപോയത് അദ്ദേഹം അറിഞ്ഞതേയില്ല.
21 And the Philistines seized him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gazah, and bound him with fetters of bronze; and he had to grind in the prison-house.
ഫെലിസ്ത്യർ അയാളെ പിടിച്ച് കണ്ണ് ചൂഴ്‌ന്നെടുത്ത് ഗസ്സായിലേക്കു കൊണ്ടുപോയി. വെങ്കലച്ചങ്ങലകൊണ്ട് ബന്ധിച്ചു കാരാഗൃഹത്തിൽ ധാന്യം പൊടിക്കാനിരുത്തി.
22 But the hair of his head began to grow after he was shaved.
ക്ഷൗരംചെയ്തുകളഞ്ഞ തലമുടിപോലെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ തലമുടി വീണ്ടും വളർന്നുതുടങ്ങി.
23 Then the lords of the Philistines gathered together to sacrifice a great sacrifice to Dagon their god, and to rejoice; for they said, Our god has given Samson our enemy into our hands.
പിന്നീട് ഫെലിസ്ത്യപ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ തങ്ങളുടെ ദേവനായ ദാഗോന് ഒരു വലിയ ബലിയർപ്പിച്ച് ഉത്സവം ആഘോഷിക്കാൻ ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടി, “നമ്മുടെ ശത്രുവായ ശിംശോനെ നമ്മുടെ ദേവൻ നമ്മുടെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
24 And when the people saw him, they praised their god; for they said, Our god has given into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, even him who multiplied our slain.
ജനമെല്ലാം ശിംശോനെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ തങ്ങളുടെ ദേവനെ പുകഴ്ത്തിക്കൊണ്ട് വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു: “നമ്മുടെ ദേശം ശൂന്യമാക്കുകയും നമ്മിൽ അനേകരെ കൊല്ലുകയും ചെയ്ത, നമ്മുടെ ശത്രുവിനെ ഇതാ, നമ്മുടെ ദേവൻ നമ്മുടെ കൈയിൽ ഏൽപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”
25 And it came to pass when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison-house, and he played before them; and they set him between the pillars.
അവർ ഇങ്ങനെ ആനന്ദത്തിലായപ്പോൾ, “നമ്മെ രസിപ്പിക്കാൻ ശിംശോനെ കൊണ്ടുവരിക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് ശിംശോനെ കാരാഗൃഹത്തിൽനിന്ന് പുറത്തേക്കു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. അയാൾ അവരുടെ മുന്നിൽ ഒരു കോമാളിയെപ്പോലെ പ്രകടനംനടത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നു. തൂണുകളുടെ മധ്യത്തിലായിരുന്നു അയാളെ നിർത്തിയിരുന്നത്.
26 And Samson said to the lad that held him by the hand, Let loose of me, and suffer me to feel the pillars upon which the house stands, that I may lean upon them.
തന്റെ കൈക്കു പിടിച്ചിരുന്ന ഭൃത്യനോട് ശിംശോൻ: “ഈ ക്ഷേത്രം ഉറപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന തൂണുകളിൽ എന്നെ ഒന്നു തപ്പിനോക്കാൻ അനുവദിക്കുക, അപ്പോൾ എനിക്ക് അതിലൊന്നു ചാരിനിൽക്കാമല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
27 Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and upon the roof there were about three thousand men and women, who looked on while Samson made sport.
ക്ഷേത്രത്തിൽ പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളും നിറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു; സകലഫെലിസ്ത്യപ്രഭുക്കന്മാരും അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ മേൽത്തട്ടിൽ പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളുമായി ഏകദേശം മൂവായിരംപേർ ശിംശോൻ കളിക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
28 And Samson called to Jehovah, and said, Lord Jehovah, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may take one vengeance upon the Philistines for my two eyes.
അപ്പോൾ ശിംശോൻ യഹോവയോടു പ്രാർഥിച്ചു: “കർത്താവായ യഹോവേ, എന്നെ ഓർക്കണമേ; ദൈവമേ, ഞാൻ എന്റെ രണ്ടുകണ്ണിനുംവേണ്ടി ഫെലിസ്ത്യരോട് പ്രതികാരംചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന് ഈ ഒരു പ്രാവശ്യംമാത്രം എനിക്കു ശക്തി നൽകണമേ.”
29 And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood (and he supported himself upon them), the one with his right hand and the other with his left.
ക്ഷേത്രം താങ്ങിനിൽക്കുന്ന രണ്ട് നെടുംതൂണുകളിൽ ഒന്ന് വലങ്കൈകൊണ്ടും മറ്റേത് ഇടങ്കൈകൊണ്ടും പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ശിംശോൻ മുന്നോട്ടാഞ്ഞു.
30 And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines! And he bowed himself with might; and the house fell on the lords, and on all the people that were therein. So the dead that he slew at his death were more than those whom he had slain in his life.
“ഞാൻ ഫെലിസ്ത്യരോടുകൂടെ മരിക്കട്ടെ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് ശിംശോൻ ശക്തിയോടെ മുന്നോട്ടു കുനിഞ്ഞു; ഉടനെ ക്ഷേത്രം തകർന്നു. അതിലുള്ള പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരുടെയും സകലജനത്തിന്റെയുംമേൽ അതു വീണു. അങ്ങനെ അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ മരണസമയത്തു വധിച്ചവർ, ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ അദ്ദേഹം വധിച്ചവരെക്കാൾ അധികമായിരുന്നു.
31 And his brethren came down, and all the house of his father, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zoreah and Eshtaol in the sepulchre of Manoah his father. And he had judged Israel twenty years.
ശിംശോന്റെ സഹോദരന്മാരും പിതൃഭവനക്കാരൊക്കെയും വന്ന് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ എടുത്ത് സോരായ്ക്കും എസ്തായോലിനും ഇടയ്ക്ക് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പിതാവായ മനോഹയുടെ ശ്മശാനസ്ഥലത്ത് അടക്കംചെയ്തു. ശിംശോൻ ഇസ്രായേലിൽ ഇരുപതുവർഷം ന്യായപാലനംചെയ്തു.
