Joshua 22
1 Then Joshua called the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh,
Entonces Josué llamó a los rubenitas, a los gaditas y a la media tribu de Manasés,
2 and said unto them, Ye have kept all that Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded you, and have hearkened to my voice in all that I commanded you.
y les dijo: “Habéis guardado todo lo que Moisés, siervo de Yahvé, os ha ordenado, y habéis escuchado mi voz en todo lo que os he mandado.
3 Ye have not left your brethren these many days unto this day, and ye have kept the charge of the commandment of Jehovah your God.
No habéis dejado a vuestros hermanos en estos muchos días hasta hoy, sino que habéis cumplido el deber del mandamiento de Yahvé vuestro Dios.
4 And now Jehovah your God hath given rest to your brethren, as he said unto them; and now return, and get you unto your tents, unto the land of your possession, which Moses the servant of Jehovah gave you beyond the Jordan.
Ahora Yahvé vuestro Dios ha dado descanso a tus hermanos, tal como les habló. Por lo tanto, regresen ahora y vayan a sus tiendas, a la tierra de su posesión, que Moisés, siervo de Yahvé, les dio al otro lado del Jordán.
5 Only, take great heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded you, to love Jehovah your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Sólo cuida de poner en práctica el mandamiento y la ley que Moisés, siervo de Yahvé, te ordenó: amar a Yahvé vuestro Dios, andar por todos sus caminos, guardar sus mandamientos, aferrarte a él y servirle con todo tu corazón y con toda tu alma.”
6 And Joshua blessed them, and sent them away; and they went to their tents.
Josué los bendijo y los despidió, y se fueron a sus tiendas.
7 And to half the tribe of Manasseh Moses had given [inheritance] in Bashan, and to the other half thereof had Joshua given among their brethren on this side the Jordan westward. And when Joshua sent them away to their tents, he blessed them also,
A la mitad de la tribu de Manasés Moisés le había dado herencia en Basán, pero Josué le dio a la otra mitad entre sus hermanos al otro lado del Jordán, hacia el oeste. Además, cuando Josué los despidió a sus tiendas, los bendijo,
8 and spoke to them, saying, Return unto your tents with much wealth and with very much cattle, with silver, and with gold, and with copper, and with iron, and with clothing, in very great quantity; divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.
y les habló diciendo: “Volved con mucha riqueza a vuestras tiendas, con mucho ganado, con plata, con oro, con bronce, con hierro y con mucha ropa. Repartan el botín de sus enemigos con sus hermanos”.
9 And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh returned, and departed from the children of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go to the country of Gilead, into the land of their possession, of which they had become possessed, according to the word of Jehovah through Moses.
Los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad y la media tribu de Manasés volvieron y se apartaron de los hijos de Israel desde Silo, que está en la tierra de Canaán, para ir a la tierra de Galaad, a la tierra de su posesión, que poseían, según el mandato de Yahvé por medio de Moisés.
10 And they came to the districts of the Jordan that are in the land of Canaan; and the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by the Jordan, an altar of grand appearance.
Cuando llegaron a la región cercana al Jordán, que está en la tierra de Canaán, los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad y la media tribu de Manasés construyeron allí un altar junto al Jordán, un gran altar para mirar.
11 And the children of Israel heard say, Behold, the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar over against the land of Canaan, in the districts of the Jordan, separately from the children of Israel.
Los hijos de Israel oyeron esto: “He aquí que los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad y la media tribu de Manasés han edificado un altar a lo largo de la frontera de la tierra de Canaán, en la región alrededor del Jordán, del lado que pertenece a los hijos de Israel.”
12 And when the children of Israel heard [of it], the whole assembly of the children of Israel gathered together at Shiloh, to go up against them to war.
Cuando los hijos de Israel se enteraron de esto, toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel se reunió en Silo para subir contra ellos a la guerra.
13 And the children of Israel sent to the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, into the land of Gilead, Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest,
Los hijos de Israel enviaron a los hijos de Rubén, a los hijos de Gad y a la media tribu de Manasés a la tierra de Galaad, a Finees, hijo del sacerdote Eleazar.
14 and with him ten princes, of each father's house a prince, out of all the tribes of Israel; and each of them was head of a father's house, of the thousands of Israel.
Con él había diez príncipes, un príncipe de una casa paterna por cada una de las tribus de Israel, y cada uno era jefe de su casa paterna entre los millares de Israel.
15 And they came to the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, to the land of Gilead, and spoke with them, saying,
Vinieron a los hijos de Rubén, a los hijos de Gad y a la media tribu de Manasés, a la tierra de Galaad, y hablaron con ellos diciendo:
16 Thus saith the whole assembly of Jehovah: What wickedness is this which ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following Jehovah, in that ye have built yourselves an altar, rebelling this day against Jehovah?
“Toda la congregación de Yahvé dice: “¿Qué transgresión es ésta que habéis cometido contra el Dios de Israel, al apartaros hoy de seguir a Yahvé, al construiros un altar, para rebelaros hoy contra Yahvé?
17 Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us? from which we are not cleansed until this day, although there was a plague in the assembly of Jehovah.
¿Acaso es poca la iniquidad de Peor, de la cual no nos hemos limpiado hasta el día de hoy, a pesar de que vino una plaga sobre la congregación de Yahvé,
18 And ye turn away this day from following Jehovah; and it will be, that since ye rebel this day against Jehovah, to-morrow he will be wroth with the whole assembly of Israel.
para que ustedes se aparten hoy de seguir a Yahvé? Será que, puesto que hoy os rebeláis contra Yahvé, mañana él se enojará con toda la congregación de Israel.
19 Notwithstanding, if the land of your possession is unclean, come over into the land of the possession of Jehovah, where Jehovah's tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession amongst us; but rebel not against Jehovah, and rebel not against us, in building for yourselves an altar besides the altar of Jehovah our God.
Sin embargo, si la tierra de tu posesión es impura, pasa a la tierra de la posesión de Yahvé, en la que habita el tabernáculo de Yahvé, y toma posesión entre nosotros; pero no te rebeles contra Yahvé, ni te rebeles contra nosotros, construyendo un altar que no sea el altar de Yahvé, nuestro Dios.
20 Did not Achan the son of Zerah commit a trespass in the accursed thing? and wrath fell on all the assembly of Israel, and he perished not alone in his iniquity.
¿No cometió Acán, hijo de Zéraj, una transgresión en lo consagrado, y la ira cayó sobre toda la congregación de Israel? Ese hombre no pereció solo en su iniquidad”.
21 And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh answered and said to the heads of the thousands of Israel,
Entonces los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad y la media tribu de Manasés respondieron y hablaron a los jefes de los millares de Israel:
22 The God of gods, Jehovah, the God of gods, Jehovah, he knoweth, and Israel he shall know [it]; if it is in rebellion, or if in trespass against Jehovah, — save us not this day!
“El Poderoso, Dios, Yahvé, el Poderoso, Dios, Yahvé, sabe; e Israel sabrá si fue por rebelión, o si por transgresión contra Yahvé (no nos salve hoy),
23 — that we have built for ourselves an altar to turn from following Jehovah, and if it is to offer up burnt-offering and oblation on it, and if to offer peace-offerings thereon, let Jehovah himself require it [from us];
que nos hemos construido un altar para apartarnos de seguir a Yahvé; o si para ofrecer holocausto u ofrenda, o si para ofrecer sacrificios de ofrendas de paz, que Yahvé mismo lo exija.
24 and if we have not done it from fear of this thing, saying, In future your children will speak to our children, saying, What have ye to do with Jehovah the God of Israel?
“Si no hemos hecho esto por preocupación y por una razón, diciendo: “En el futuro, vuestros hijos podrían hablar a los nuestros, diciendo: “¿Qué tenéis vosotros que ver con Yahvé, el Dios de Israel?
25 Jehovah hath made the Jordan a border between us and you, ye children of Reuben and children of Gad, ye have no portion in Jehovah! And so shall your children make our children cease from fearing Jehovah.
Porque Yahvé ha puesto el Jordán como frontera entre nosotros y vosotros, hijos de Rubén e hijos de Gad. Vosotros no tenéis parte en Yahvé”. Para que vuestros hijos hagan que los nuestros dejen de temer a Yahvé.
26 And we said, Let us now set to work to build an altar, not for burnt-offering, nor for sacrifice,
“Por eso dijimos: ‘Preparemos ahora para construirnos un altar, no para holocaustos ni para sacrificios;
27 but to be a witness between us and you, and between our generations after us, that we might do service to Jehovah before him with our burnt-offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace-offerings; that your children may not say to our children in future, Ye have no portion in Jehovah.
sino que será un testimonio entre nosotros y ustedes, y entre nuestras generaciones después de nosotros, para que realicemos el servicio de Yahvé ante él con nuestros holocaustos, con nuestros sacrificios y con nuestras ofrendas de paz;’ para que sus hijos no digan a los nuestros en el futuro: ‘Ustedes no tienen parte en Yahvé’.
28 And we said, If it shall be that in future they so say to us and to our generations, we will say, Behold the pattern of the altar of Jehovah which our fathers made, not for burnt-offering, nor for sacrifice, but as a witness between us and you.
“Por eso dijimos: “Cuando nos cuenten esto a nosotros o a nuestras generaciones en el futuro, diremos: “He aquí el modelo del altar de Yahvé, que hicieron nuestros padres, no para holocausto ni para sacrificio, sino que es un testigo entre nosotros y vosotros””.
29 Far be it from us that we should rebel against Jehovah, and turn this day from following Jehovah, in building an altar for burnt-offering, for oblation, and for sacrifice, besides the altar of Jehovah our God that is before his tabernacle.
“¡Lejos de nosotros que nos rebelemos contra Yahvé y nos apartemos hoy de seguir a Yahvé, para construir un altar para holocausto, para ofrenda o para sacrificio, además del altar de Yahvé nuestro Dios que está delante de su tabernáculo!”
30 And when Phinehas the priest and the princes of the assembly and the heads of the thousands of Israel that were with him heard the words that the children of Reuben and the children of Gad and the children of Manasseh spoke, it was good in their sight.
Cuando el sacerdote Finees y los jefes de la congregación, los jefes de los millares de Israel que estaban con él, oyeron las palabras que decían los hijos de Rubén, los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Manasés, les pareció bien.
31 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest said unto the children of Reuben, and to the children of Gad, and to the children of Manasseh, This day we perceive that Jehovah is among us, because ye have not committed this trespass against Jehovah: now have ye delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of Jehovah.
Finees, hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, dijo a los hijos de Rubén, a los hijos de Gad y a los hijos de Manasés: “Hoy sabemos que Yahvé está entre nosotros, porque ustedes no han cometido esta transgresión contra Yahvé. Ahora habéis librado a los hijos de Israel de la mano de Yahvé”.
32 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the children of Reuben, and from the children of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, to the land of Canaan, to the children of Israel, and brought them word again.
Finees, hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, y los príncipes, volvieron de los hijos de Rubén y de los hijos de Gad, de la tierra de Galaad, a la tierra de Canaán, a los hijos de Israel, y les trajeron la noticia.
33 And the thing was good in the sight of the children of Israel, and the children of Israel blessed God, and no more said that they would go up in warfare against them, to destroy the land in which the children of Reuben and the children of Gad dwelt.
Esto agradó a los hijos de Israel; y los hijos de Israel bendijeron a Dios, y no hablaron más de subir contra ellos a la guerra, para destruir la tierra en que vivían los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad.
34 And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad gave a name to the altar; for it is a witness between us that Jehovah is God.
Los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad llamaron al altar “Testigo entre nosotros de que Yahvé es Dios”.
