Joshua 1

1 And it came to pass after the death of Moses the servant of Jehovah, that Jehovah spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' attendant, saying,

۱ و واقع شد بعد از وفات موسی، بنده خداوند، که خداوند یوشع بن نون، خادم موسی را خطاب کرده، گفت:

2 Moses my servant is dead; and now, rise up, go over this Jordan, thou and all this people, into the land which I give unto them, to the children of Israel.

۲ «موسی بنده من وفات یافته است، پس الان برخیز و از این اردن عبور کن، تو و تمامی این قوم، به زمینی که من به ایشان، یعنی به بنی‌اسرائیل می‌دهم.

3 Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread have I given to you, as I said unto Moses.

۳ هر جایی که کف پای شما گذارده شود به شما داده‌ام، چنانکه به موسی گفتم.

4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon to the great river, the river Euphrates, the whole land of the Hittites, to the great sea, toward the going down of the sun, shall be your border.

۴ از صحرا و این لبنان تانهر بزرگ یعنی نهر فرات، تمامی زمین حتیان و تادریای بزرگ به طرف مغرب آفتاب، حدود شماخواهد بود.

5 None shall be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so will I be with thee; I will not leave thee, neither will I forsake thee.

۵ هیچکس را در تمامی ایام عمرت یارای مقاومت با تو نخواهد بود. چنانکه با موسی بودم با تو خواهم بود، تو را مهمل نخواهم گذاشت و ترک نخواهم نمود.

6 Be strong and courageous, for thou shalt cause this people to inherit the land which I have sworn unto their fathers to give them.

۶ قوی و دلیر باش، زیرا که تو این قوم را متصرف، زمینی که برای پدران ایشان قسم خوردم که به ایشان بدهم، خواهی ساخت.

7 Only be strong and very courageous, that thou mayest take heed to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded thee. Turn not from it to the right or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.

۷ فقط قوی و بسیار دلیر باش تابرحسب تمامی شریعتی که بنده من، موسی تو راامر کرده است متوجه شده، عمل نمایی. زنهار ازآن به طرف راست یا چپ تجاوز منما تا هر جایی که روی، کامیاب شوی.

8 This book of the law shall not depart from thy mouth; and thou shalt meditate upon it day and night, that thou mayest take heed to do according to all that is written therein; for then shalt thou have good success in thy ways, and then shalt thou prosper.

۸ این کتاب تورات ازدهان تو دور نشود، بلکه روز و شب در آن تفکرکن تا برحسب هر‌آنچه در آن مکتوب است متوجه شده، عمل نمایی زیرا همچنین راه خود را فیروز خواهی ساخت، و همچنین کامیاب خواهی شد.

9 Have I not commanded thee: Be strong and courageous? Be not afraid, neither be dismayed; for Jehovah thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

۹ آیا تو را امر نکردم؟ پس قوی ودلیر باش، مترس و هراسان مباش زیرا در هر جاکه بروی یهوه خدای تو، با توست.»

10 And Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

۱۰ پس یوشع روسای قوم را امر فرموده، گفت:

11 Go through the midst of the camp, and command the people, saying, Prepare yourselves victuals, for in three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, that ye may enter in to take possession of the land which Jehovah your God giveth you to possess it.

۱۱ «در میان لشکرگاه بگذرید و قوم را امرفرموده، بگویید: برای خود توشه حاضر کنید، زیرا که بعد از سه روز، شما از این اردن عبورکرده، داخل خواهید شد تا تصرف کنید در زمینی که یهوه خدای شما، به شما برای ملکیت می‌دهد.»

12 And to the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to half the tribe of Manasseh spoke Joshua, saying,

۱۲ و یوشع روبینیان و جادیان و نصف سبطمنسی را خطاب کرده، گفت:

13 Remember the word that Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded you, saying, Jehovah your God has given you rest and has given you this land.

۱۳ «بیاد آورید آن سخن را که موسی، بنده خداوند، به شما امرفرموده، گفت: یهوه، خدای شما به شما آرامی می‌دهد و این زمین را به شما می‌بخشد.

14 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle shall abide in the land that Moses gave you on this side of the Jordan, but ye, all the valiant men, shall go over in array before your brethren and help them,

۱۴ زنان واطفال و مواشی شما در زمینی که موسی در آن طرف اردن به شما داد خواهند ماند، و اما شمامسلح شده، یعنی جمیع مردان جنگی پیش روی برادران خود عبور کنید، و ایشان را اعانت نمایید.

15 until Jehovah give your brethren rest as to you, and they also take possession of the land which Jehovah your God giveth them; then shall ye return into the land of your possession and possess it, which Moses the servant of Jehovah gave you on this side of the Jordan toward the sun-rising.

۱۵ تا خداوند برادران شما را مثل شما آرامی داده باشد، و ایشان نیز در زمینی که یهوه، خدای شمابه ایشان می‌دهد تصرف کرده باشند، آنگاه به زمین ملکیت خود خواهید برگشت و متصرف خواهید شد، در آن که موسی، بنده خداوند به آن طرف اردن به سوی مشرق آفتاب به شما داد.»

16 And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou hast commanded us will we do, and whither thou shalt send us will we go.

۱۶ ایشان در جواب یوشع گفتند: «هر‌آنچه به ما فرمودی خواهیم کرد، و هر جا ما را بفرستی، خواهیم رفت.

17 According as we hearkened to Moses in all things, so will we hearken to thee; only may Jehovah thy God be with thee as he was with Moses.

۱۷ چنانکه موسی را در هر چیزاطاعت نمودیم، تو را نیز اطاعت خواهیم نمود، فقط یهوه، خدای تو، با تو باشد چنانکه با موسی بود.

18 Every one that is rebellious against thy commandment and hearkeneth not to thy words in everything that thou commandest us, shall be put to death. Only be strong and courageous.

۱۸ هر کسی‌که از حکم تو رو گرداند و کلام تو را در هر چیزی که او را امر فرمایی اطاعت نکند، کشته خواهد شد، فقط قوی و دلیر باش.»
