Jonah 3
1 And the word of Jehovah came unto Jonah the second time, saying,
Rəbbin sözü Yunusa ikinci dəfə nazil oldu:
2 Arise, go to Nineveh, the great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I shall bid thee.
«Qalx, Ninevaya – o böyük şəhərə get və sənə söyləyəcəyim sözləri onlara car çək».
3 And Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of Jehovah. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey.
Yunus Rəbbin sözünə görə qalxıb Ninevaya getdi. Nineva Allahın nəzərində böyük şəhər idi. Oranı üç günə gəzib-dolaşmaq olardı.
4 And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!
Yunus şəhəri gəzməyə başlayıb bir günlük yol getdi və car çəkərək dedi: «Qırx gündən sonra Nineva dağılacaq!»
5 And the men of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.
Ninevalılar Allaha inandılar, oruc elan edərək böyükdən kiçiyə qədər hamı çul geyindi.
6 And the word reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and laid his robe from him, and covered himself with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
Bu xəbər Nineva padşahına çatanda o, taxtından qalxaraq şahlıq libasını əynindən çıxartdı və çul geyinib külün üstündə oturdu.
7 And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything: let them not feed, nor drink water;
Padşah özünün və əyanlarının adından buyurdu ki, Ninevada elan edib desinlər: «Nə insanlar, nə heyvanlar, nə mal-qara, nə də ki qoyun-keçi heç nə yeməsin, otlağa getməsin və su içməsin.
8 and let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God; and let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.
İnsanlar da, heyvanlar da çul geyinsin və var gücləri ilə Allaha fəryad etsin. Hər kəs öz pis yolundan və əllərinin zorakılığından dönsün.
9 Who knoweth but that God will turn and repent, and will turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?
Kim bilir, bəlkə Allah rəhmə gəlib, qızğın qəzəbini bizdən döndərər və biz məhv olmarıq».
10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil that he had said he would do unto them, and he did [it] not.
Allah onların işlərini, pis yoldan döndüklərini gördü. Ona görə də rəhm edib əvvəlcə onların üstünə göndərmək istədiyi bəlanı göndərmədi.
