< John 4 >
1 When therefore the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus makes and baptises more disciples than John
Yesu atazindikira kuti Afarisi amva zoti Iye ankapeza ndi kubatiza ophunzira ambiri kupambana Yohane,
2 (however, Jesus himself did not baptise, but his disciples),
(ngakhale kuti Yesuyo sankabatiza, koma ophunzira ake).
3 he left Judaea and went away again unto Galilee.
Iye anachoka ku Yudeya ndi kubwereranso ku Galileya.
4 And he must needs pass through Samaria.
Ndipo Iye anayenera kudutsa mu Samariya.
5 He comes therefore to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near to the land which Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
Iye anafika mʼmudzi wa Asamariya wotchedwa Sukari, pafupi ndi malo amene Yakobo anapatsa mwana wake Yosefe.
6 Now a fountain of Jacob's was there; Jesus therefore, being wearied with the way he had come, sat just as he was at the fountain. It was about the sixth hour.
Chitsime cha Yakobo chinali pamenepo ndipo Yesu atatopa ndi ulendo anakhala pansi pambali pa chitsimecho. Nthawi inali pafupifupi ora lachisanu ndi chimodzi masana.
7 A woman comes out of Samaria to draw water. Jesus says to her, Give me to drink
Mayi wa Chisamariya atabwera kudzatunga madzi, Yesu anati kwa iye, “Kodi ungandipatse madzi akumwa.”
8 (for his disciples had gone away into the city that they might buy provisions).
(Ophunzira ake nʼkuti atapita mʼmudzi kukagula chakudya).
9 The Samaritan woman therefore says to him, How dost thou, being a Jew, ask to drink of me who am a Samaritan woman? for Jews have no intercourse with Samaritans.
Mayiyo anati kwa Iye, “Inu ndinu Myuda ndipo ine ndine Msamariya. Bwanji mukundipempha madzi akumwa?” (Popeza Ayuda ndi Asamariya sankayanjana).
10 Jesus answered and said to her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that says to thee, Give me to drink, thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
Yesu anamuyankha kuti, “Koma iwe ukanadziwa mphatso ya Mulungu ndi Iye amene akukupempha madzi akumwa, ukanamupempha ndipo akanakupatsa madzi amoyo.”
11 The woman says to him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: whence then hast thou the living water?
Mayiyo anati, “Ambuye, Inu mulibe kanthu kotungira madzi ndipo chitsime ndi chakuya. Kodi madzi amoyowo mungawatenge kuti?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank of it himself, and his sons, and his cattle?
Kodi Inu ndinu wamkulu kuposa kholo lathu Yakobo, amene anatipatsa chitsimechi ndipo iye ankamwanso monga anachita ana ake ndi ziweto zake?”
13 Jesus answered and said to her, Every one who drinks of this water shall thirst again;
Yesu anayankha kuti, “Aliyense amene amamwa madzi awa amamvanso ludzu,
14 but whosoever drinks of the water which I shall give him shall never thirst for ever, but the water which I shall give him shall become in him a fountain of water, springing up into eternal life. (aiōn , aiōnios )
koma aliyense amene adzamwa madzi amene Ine ndidzamupatsa sadzamvanso ludzu. Ndithudi, madzi amene ndidzamupatsa adzakhala kasupe wamadzi wotumphukira ku moyo wosatha.” (aiōn , aiōnios )
15 The woman says to him, Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst nor come here to draw.
Mayiyo anati kwa Iye, “Ambuye, patseni madzi amenewo kuti ndisadzamvenso ludzu ndi kumabwerabe kuno kudzatunga madzi.”
16 Jesus says to her, Go, call thy husband, and come here.
Iye anamuwuza kuti, “Pita kayitane mwamuna wako ndipo ubwere naye.”
17 The woman answered and said, I have not a husband. Jesus says to her, Thou hast well said, I have not a husband;
Iye anayankha kuti, “Ine ndilibe mwamuna.” Yesu anati kwa iye, “Wakhoza ponena kuti ulibe mwamuna.
18 for thou hast had five husbands, and he whom now thou hast is not thy husband: this thou hast spoken truly.
Zoona nʼzakuti iwe wakhala pa banja ndi amuna asanu, ndipo mwamuna amene uli naye tsopano si wako. Zimene wanenazi ndi zoona.”
19 The woman says to him, Sir, I see that thou art a prophet.
Mayiyo anati, “Ambuye, ine ndazindikira kuti Inu ndinu mneneri.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain, and ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where one must worship.
Makolo athu ankapembedza mʼphiri ili koma inu Ayuda mumati malo amene tiyenera kupembedzera ali ku Yerusalemu.”
21 Jesus says to her, Woman, believe me, [the] hour is coming when ye shall neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem worship the Father.
Yesu anati, “Mayi inu khulupirira Ine. Nthawi ikubwera pamene inu simudzapembedza Atate mʼphiri ili kapena mu Yerusalemu.
22 Ye worship ye know not what; we worship what we know, for salvation is of the Jews.
Inu Asamariya mumapembedza chimene simukuchidziwa. Ife timapembedza chimene tikuchidziwa, pakuti chipulumutso nʼchochokera kwa Ayuda.
23 But [the] hour is coming and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and truth; for also the Father seeks such as his worshippers.
Koma nthawi ikubwera ndipo yafika kale tsopano pamene opembedza woona adzapembedza Atate mu mzimu ndi mʼchoonadi, pakuti opembedza otere ndiwo amene Atate akuwafuna.
24 God [is] a spirit; and they who worship him must worship [him] in spirit and truth.
Mulungu ndi Mzimu, ndipo omupembedza Iye ayenera kumupembedza mu mzimu ndi mʼchoonadi.”
25 The woman says to him, I know that Messias is coming, who is called Christ; when he comes he will tell us all things.
Mayiyo anati, “Ine ndikudziwa kuti Mesiya (wotchedwa Khristu) akubwera. Akabwera, Iye adzafotokoza zonse kwa ife.”
26 Jesus says to her, I who speak to thee am [he].
Ndipo Yesu anamuwuza kuti, “Amene ndikukuyankhulane, ndine amene.”
27 And upon this came his disciples, and wondered that he spoke with a woman; yet no one said, What seekest thou? or, Why speakest thou with her?
Pa nthawi yomweyo ophunzira ake anabwerera ndipo anadabwa kupeza Iye akuyankhula ndi mayi. Koma palibe amene anamufunsa kuti, “Kodi mukufuna chiyani?” kapena, “Nʼchifukwa chiyani mukuyankhula naye?”
28 The woman then left her waterpot and went away into the city, and says to the men,
Kenaka mayiyo anasiya mtsuko wamadzi, nabwerera ku mzinda ndipo anati kwa anthu,
29 Come, see a man who told me all things I had ever done: is not he the Christ?
“Tiyeni mukaone munthu amene wandiwuza ine zilizonse zimene ndinazichita. Kodi ameneyu sangakhale Khristu?”
30 They went out of the city and came to him.
Iwo anatuluka mʼmudziwo ndi kupita kumene kunali Iye.
31 But meanwhile the disciples asked him saying, Rabbi, eat.
Pa nthawi imeneyi ndi kuti ophunzira ake akumukakamiza kuti, “Rabi idyani.”
32 But he said to them, I have food to eat which ye do not know.
Koma Iye anawawuza kuti, “Ine ndili ndi chakudya choti ndidye chimene inu simukuchidziwa.”
33 The disciples therefore said to one another, Has any one brought him [anything] to eat?
Ndipo ophunzira ake anafunsana wina ndi mnzake kuti, “Kodi alipo wina amene anamubweretsera Iye chakudya?”
34 Jesus says to them, My food is that I should do the will of him that has sent me, and that I should finish his work.
Yesu anati, “Chakudya changa ndikuchita chifuniro cha Iye amene anandituma Ine ndi kumaliza ntchito yake.
35 Do not ye say, that there are yet four months and the harvest comes? Behold, I say to you, Lift up your eyes and behold the fields, for they are already white to harvest.
Kodi inu simunena kuti, ‘Kwatsala miyezi inayi ndipo kenaka kukolola?’ Ine ndikukuwuzani kuti, tsekulani maso anu ndipo muyangʼane mʼminda! Mbewu zacha kale kuti zikololedwe.
36 He that reaps receives wages and gathers fruit unto life eternal, that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together. (aiōnios )
Ngakhale tsopano amene akukolola akulandira malipiro ake, ndipo akututa mbewu ku moyo wosatha kuti wofesa ndi wokolola asangalale pamodzi. (aiōnios )
37 For in this is [verified] the true saying, It is one who sows and another who reaps.
Nʼchifukwa chake mawu akuti, ‘Wina amafesa ndipo wina amakolola’ ndi woona.
38 I have sent you to reap that on which ye have not laboured; others have laboured, and ye have entered into their labours.
Ine ndinakutumani kukakolola zimene simunagwirire ntchito. Ena anagwira ntchito yolemetsa ndipo inu mwatuta phindu la ntchito yawo.”
39 But many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him because of the word of the woman who bore witness, He told me all things that I had ever done.
Asamariya ambiri ochokera mʼmudziwo anakhulupirira Iye chifukwa cha umboni wa mayiyo wakuti, “Iye anandiwuza ine zonse ndinazichita.”
40 When therefore the Samaritans came to him they asked him to abide with them, and he abode there two days.
Choncho Asamariya atabwera kwa Iye, anamuwumiriza Iye kuti akhale nawo, ndipo Iye anakhala nawo masiku awiri.
41 And more a great deal believed on account of his word;
Ndipo chifukwa cha mawu ake, ena ambiri anakhulupirira.
42 and they said to the woman, [It is] no longer on account of thy saying that we believe, for we have heard him ourselves, and we know that this is indeed the Saviour of the world.
Iwo anati kwa mayiyo, “Ife sitikukhulupirira chifukwa cha mawu ako okha, koma tsopano ife tadzimvera tokha, ndipo tikudziwa kuti munthu uyu ndithu ndi Mpulumutsi wa dziko lapansi.”
43 But after the two days he went forth thence and went away into Galilee,
Patatha masiku awiri Iye anachoka napita ku Galileya.
44 for Jesus himself bore witness that a prophet has no honour in his own country.
(Tsopano Yesu mwini ananena kale kuti mneneri salandira ulemu mʼdziko lake).
45 When therefore he came into Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all that he had done in Jerusalem during the feast, for they also went to the feast.
Iye atafika ku Galileya, Agalileya anamulandira. Iwo anali ataona zonse zimene anazichita mu Yerusalemu pa phwando la Paska, pakuti iwonso anali komweko.
46 He came therefore again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain courtier in Capernaum whose son was sick.
Iye anakafikanso ku Kana wa ku Galileya, kumene anasanduliza madzi kukhala vinyo. Ndipo kumeneko kunali nduna ina ya mfumu imene mwana wake wamwamuna anali chigonere akudwala ku Kaperenawo.
47 He, having heard that Jesus had come out of Judaea into Galilee, went to him and asked [him] that he would come down and heal his son, for he was about to die.
Munthu uyu atamva kuti Yesu wafika ku Galileya kuchokera ku Yudeya, anapita kwa Iye, namupempha kuti apite akachiritse mwana wakeyo, amene anali pafupi kufa.
48 Jesus therefore said to him, Unless ye see signs and wonders ye will not believe.
Yesu anawawuza iwo kuti, “Anthu inu pokhapokha mutaona zizindikiro zodabwitsa, simudzakhulupirira.”
49 The courtier says to him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
Nduna ya mfumuyo inati, “Ambuye tiyeni mwana wanga asanafe.”
50 Jesus says to him, Go, thy son lives. And the man believed the word which Jesus said to him, and went his way.
Yesu anayankha kuti, “Pita. Mwana wako adzakhala ndi moyo.” Munthuyo anakhulupirira mawu a Yesu ndipo ananyamuka.
51 But already, as he was going down, his servants met him and brought [him] word saying, Thy child lives.
Iye ali pa njira, antchito ake anakumana naye, namuwuza kuti mwana wanu uja wachira.
52 He inquired therefore from them the hour at which he got better. And they said to him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
Iye atafunsa kuti ndi nthawi yanji imene mwana wake anapeza bwino, iwo anati kwa iye, “Malungo anamusiya iye dzulo pa ora lachisanu ndi chiwiri.”
53 The father therefore knew that [it was] in that hour in which Jesus said to him, Thy son lives; and he believed, himself and his whole house.
Ndipo bamboyo anazindikira kuti iyi inali nthawi yomweyo imene Yesu anati kwa iye, “Mwana wako adzakhala ndi moyo.” Choncho iye ndi onse a pa banja lake anakhulupirira.
54 This second sign again did Jesus, being come out of Judaea into Galilee.
Ichi ndiye chinali chizindikiro chodabwitsa chachiwiri chimene Yesu anachita atafika ku Galileya kuchokera ku Yudeya.
