John 21
1 After these things Jesus manifested himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. And he manifested [himself] thus.
Später offenbarte sich Jesus noch einmal seinen Jüngern am Meere von Tiberias, und zwar offenbarte er sich auf diese Weise:
2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael who was of Cana of Galilee, and the [sons] of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples.
Simon Petrus, der "Zwilling" Thomas, Nathanael aus Kana in Galiläa, die Söhne des Zebedäus und zwei andere seiner Jünger waren beieinander.
3 Simon Peter says to them, I go to fish. They say to him, We also come with thee. They went forth, and went on board, and that night took nothing.
Und Simon Petrus sprach zu ihnen: "Ich gehe fischen." Sie sagten zu ihm: "Wir gehen auch mit." Da gingen sie hinaus und stiegen in das Boot, sie fingen aber nichts in jener Nacht.
4 And early morn already breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; the disciples however did not know that it was Jesus.
Schon dämmerte der Morgen, da stand Jesus am Ufer. Die Jünger wußten aber nicht, daß es Jesus war.
5 Jesus therefore says to them, Children, have ye anything to eat? They answered him, No.
Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: "Kinder, habt ihr keinen Fisch?" "Nein", sagten sie zu ihm.
6 And he said to them, Cast the net at the right side of the ship and ye will find. They cast therefore, and they could no longer draw it, from the multitude of fishes.
Hierauf sprach er zu ihnen: "So werft das Netz aus, rechts vom Boote, dann werdet ihr etwas bekommen." Sie warfen es aus und vermochten es vor der Menge der Fische nicht heraufzuziehen.
7 That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved says to Peter, It is the Lord. Simon Peter therefore, having heard that it was the Lord, girded his overcoat [on him] (for he was naked), and cast himself into the sea;
Da sprach der Jünger, den Jesus liebte, zu Petrus: "Es ist der Herr." Als Simon Petrus hörte: "Es ist der Herr", legte er sich das Oberkleid über - er war nämlich unbekleidet - und sprang ins Meer.
8 and the other disciples came in the small boat, for they were not far from the land, but somewhere about two hundred cubits, dragging the net of fishes.
Die anderen Jünger kamen im Boote nach; sie waren nicht weit vom Land entfernt, etwa zweihundert Ellen. Sie zogen das mit Fischen angefüllte Netz hinter sich her.
9 When therefore they went out on the land, they see a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread.
Sie stiegen ans Land und sahen ein Kohlenfeuer angelegt, darüber einen Fisch und Brot dabei.
10 Jesus says to them, Bring of the fishes which ye have now taken.
Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: "Bringt von den Fischen, die ihr jetzt gefangen habt."
11 Simon Peter went up and drew the net to the land full of great fishes, a hundred and fifty-three; and though there were so many, the net was not rent.
Und Simon Petrus stieg ins Boot und zog das Netz ans Land, mit hundertdreiundfünfzig großen Fischen angefüllt. Obwohl es so viele waren, zerriß das Netz doch nicht.
12 Jesus says to them, Come [and] dine. But none of the disciples dared inquire of him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.
Und Jesus sprach zu ihnen: "Kommt her und frühstückt!" Und keiner von den Jüngern wagte zu fragen: "Wer bist du?" Sie wußten ja, daß es der Herr sei.
13 Jesus comes and takes the bread and gives it to them, and the fish in like manner.
Und Jesus nahm sogleich das Brot und gab es ihnen, ebenso den Fisch.
14 This is already the third time that Jesus had been manifested to the disciples, being risen from among [the] dead.
Das war bereits das dritte Mal, daß Jesus nach seiner Auferstehung von den Toten sich seinen Jüngern geoffenbart hatte.
15 When therefore they had dined, Jesus says to Simon Peter, Simon, [son] of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He says to him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I am attached to thee. He says to him, Feed my lambs.
Nach jenem Frühstück fragte Jesus den Simon Petrus: "Simon, Sohn des Johannes, liebst du mich mehr als diese?" Er sprach zu ihm: "Ja, Herr, du weißt, daß ich dich liebe." Da sagte er zu ihm: "Weide meine Lämmer!"
16 He says to him again a second time, Simon, [son] of Jonas, lovest thou me? He says to him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I am attached to thee. He says to him, Shepherd my sheep.
Und er fragte ihn ein zweites Mal: "Simon, Sohn des Johannes, liebst du mich?" Er sprach zu ihm: "Ja, Herr, du weißt, daß ich dich liebe." Er sprach zu ihm: "Weide meine Schafe!"
17 He says to him the third time, Simon, [son] of Jonas, art thou attached to me? Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, Art thou attached to me? and said to him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I am attached to thee. Jesus says to him, Feed my sheep.
Er fragte ihn noch ein drittes Mal: "Simon, Sohn des Johannes, liebst du mich?" Da wurde Petrus traurig, daß er ihn zum drittenmal fragte: "Liebst du mich?" Er sprach zu ihm: "Herr, du weißt alles, du weißt auch, daß ich dich liebe." Und Jesus sprach zu ihm: "Weide meine Schafe!
18 Verily, verily, I say to thee, When thou wast young, thou girdedst thyself, and walkedst where thou desiredst; but when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another shall gird thee, and bring thee where thou dost not desire.
Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage dir: Als du noch jung warst, hast du dich selbst gegürtet und bist gegangen, wohin du wolltest. Wenn du aber alt geworden bist, dann wirst du deine Hände ausstrecken; ein anderer wird dich gürten und dich dahin führen, wohin du nicht willst."
19 But he said this signifying by what death he should glorify God. And having said this, he says to him, Follow me.
Mit diesen Worten deutete er an, durch welche Todesart er Gott verherrlichen werde. Dann sagte er zu ihm: "Folge mir!"
20 Peter, turning round, sees the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also leaned at supper on his breast, and said, Lord, who is it that delivers thee up?
Und Petrus wandte sich um und sah, wie der Jünger, den Jesus liebte, ihm folgte. Es war derselbe, der beim Abendmahl, an seine Brust gelehnt, gefragt hatte: "Herr, wer ist es, der dich verrät?"
21 Peter, seeing him, says to Jesus, Lord, and what [of] this [man]?
Als Petrus ihn sah, sprach er zu Jesus: "Herr, was ist mit diesem?"
22 Jesus says to him, If I will that he abide until I come, what [is that] to thee? Follow thou me.
Und Jesus sprach zu ihm: "Wenn ich will, daß er bleibe, bis ich komme, was geht das dich an? Du sollst mir folgen."
23 This word therefore went out among the brethren, That disciple does not die. And Jesus did not say to him, He does not die; but, If I will that he abide until I come, what [is that] to thee?
Daher kam das Gerede bei den Brüdern auf, jener Jünger sterbe nicht. Doch Jesus hatte nicht zu ihm gesagt: "Er stirbt nicht", sondern: "Wenn ich will, daß er bleibe, bis ich komme, was geht das dich an?"
24 This is the disciple who bears witness concerning these things, and who has written these things; and we know that his witness is true.
Das ist der Jünger, der dies bezeugt und geschrieben hat. Wir wissen, daß sein Zeugnis wahr ist.
25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which if they were written one by one, I suppose that not even the world itself would contain the books written.
Noch gibt es vieles andere, was Jesus getan hat. Wollte man das alles einzeln niederschreiben, so könnte, meine ich, die Welt die Bücher nicht fassen, die dann zu schreiben wären.
