John 14
1 Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe on God, believe also on me.
“তোমাদের হৃদয় যেন উদ্বিগ্ন না হয়। ঈশ্বরকে বিশ্বাস করো, আমাকেও বিশ্বাস করো।
2 In my Father's house there are many abodes; were it not so, I had told you: for I go to prepare you a place;
আমার পিতার গৃহে অনেক ঘর আছে, যদি না থাকত, আমি তোমাদের বলতাম। তোমাদের জন্য আমি সেখানে স্থান প্রস্তুত করতে যাচ্ছি।
3 and if I go and shall prepare you a place, I am coming again and shall receive you to myself, that where I am ye also may be.
আর যখন আমি সেখানে যাই ও তোমাদের জন্য স্থানের ব্যবস্থা করি, আমি আবার ফিরে আসব এবং আমি যেখানে থাকি, সেখানে আমার সঙ্গে থাকার জন্য তোমাদের নিয়ে যাব।
4 And ye know where I go, and ye know the way.
আমি যেখানে যাচ্ছি, সেখানে যাওয়ার পথ তোমরা জানো।”
5 Thomas says to him, Lord, we know not where thou goest, and how can we know the way?
থোমা তাঁকে বললেন, “প্রভু, আপনি কোথায় যাচ্ছেন, আমরা জানি না, তাহলে সেই পথ আমরা জানব কী করে?”
6 Jesus says to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father unless by me.
যীশু উত্তর দিলেন, “আমিই পথ ও সত্য ও জীবন। আমার মাধ্যমে না এলে, কোনো মানুষই পিতার কাছে আসতে পারে না।
7 If ye had known me, ye would have known also my Father, and henceforth ye know him and have seen him.
তোমরা যদি আমাকে প্রকৃতই জানো, তাহলে আমার পিতাকেও জানবে। এখন থেকে তোমরা তাঁকে জেনেছ এবং দেখেছ।”
8 Philip says to him, Lord, shew us the Father and it suffices us.
ফিলিপ বললেন, “প্রভু, পিতাকে আমাদের দেখান, তাই আমাদের পক্ষে যথেষ্ট হবে।”
9 Jesus says to him, Am I so long a time with you, and thou hast not known me, Philip? He that has seen me has seen the Father; and how sayest thou, Shew us the Father?
যীশু বললেন, “ফিলিপ, এত কাল আমি তোমাদের মধ্যে আছি, তবুও কি তুমি আমাকে চেনো না? যে আমাকে দেখেছে, সে পিতাকেও দেখেছে। তাহলে ‘পিতাকে আমাদের দেখান,’ একথা তুমি কী করে বলছ?
10 Believest thou not that I [am] in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words which I speak to you I do not speak from myself; but the Father who abides in me, he does the works.
তোমরা কি বিশ্বাস করো না যে, আমি পিতার মধ্যে আছি এবং পিতা আমার মধ্যে আছেন? আমি তোমাদের যা কিছু বলি, তা শুধু আমার নিজের কথা নয়, বরং পিতা, যিনি আমার মধ্যে আছেন, তিনি তাঁর কাজ সম্পাদন করছেন।
11 Believe me that I [am] in the Father and the Father in me; but if not, believe me for the works' sake themselves.
তোমরা আমাকে বিশ্বাস করো যে, আমি পিতার মধ্যে আমি আছি এবং পিতা আমার মধ্যে আছেন, না হলে অন্তত অলৌকিক সব কাজ দেখে বিশ্বাস করো।
12 Verily, verily, I say to you, He that believes on me, the works which I do shall he do also, and he shall do greater than these, because I go to the Father.
আমি তোমাদের সত্যি বলছি, আমার উপর যার বিশ্বাস আছে, আমি যে কাজ করছি, সেও সেরকম কাজ করবে, এমনকি, এর চেয়েও মহৎ সব কাজ করবে, কারণ আমি পিতার কাছে যাচ্ছি।
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, this will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
আর আমার নামে তোমরা যা কিছু চাইবে, আমি তাই পূরণ করব, যেন পুত্র পিতাকে মহিমান্বিত করেন।
14 If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.
আমার নামে তোমরা যা কিছু চাইবে, আমি তা পূরণ করব।
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
“তোমরা যদি আমাকে ভালোবেসে থাকো, তাহলে আমার সব আদেশ পালন করবে।
16 And I will beg the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, that he may be with you for ever, (aiōn g165)
আমি পিতার কাছে নিবেদন করব এবং তোমাদের সঙ্গে চিরকাল থাকার জন্য তিনি আর এক সহায় তোমাদের দান করবেন। (aiōn g165)
17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see him nor know him; but ye know him, for he abides with you, and shall be in you.
তিনি সত্যের আত্মা। জগৎ তাঁকে গ্রহণ করতে পারে না। কারণ জগৎ তাঁকে দেখে না, তাঁকে জানেও না। কিন্তু তোমরা তাঁকে জানো, কারণ তিনি তোমাদের সঙ্গে আছেন এবং তিনি তোমাদের অন্তরে থাকবেন।
18 I will not leave you orphans, I am coming to you.
আমি তোমাদের অনাথ রেখে যাব না, আমি তোমাদের কাছে আসব।
19 Yet a little and the world sees me no longer; but ye see me; because I live ye also shall live.
অল্পকাল পরে জগৎ আর আমাকে দেখতে পাবে না, কিন্তু তোমরা আমাকে দেখতে পাবে। কারণ আমি জীবিত আছি, এই জন্য তোমরাও জীবিত থাকবে।
20 In that day ye shall know that I [am] in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
সেদিন তোমরা উপলব্ধি করবে যে, আমি পিতার মধ্যে আছি, আর তোমরা আমার মধ্যে এবং আমি তোমাদের মধ্যে আছি।
21 He that has my commandments and keeps them, he it is that loves me; but he that loves me shall be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will manifest myself to him.
যে আমার আদেশ লাভ করে সেগুলি পালন করে, সেই আমাকে প্রেম করে। আমাকে যে প্রেম করে, আমার পিতাও তাকে প্রেম করবেন, আর আমিও তাকে প্রেম করব এবং নিজেকে তারই কাছে প্রকাশ করব।”
22 Judas, not the Iscariote, says to him, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself to us and not to the world?
তখন যিহূদা (যিহূদা ইষ্কারিয়োৎ নয়) বললেন, “কিন্তু প্রভু, আপনি জগতের কাছে নিজেকে প্রকাশ না করে, শুধুমাত্র আমাদের কাছে প্রকাশ করতে চান কেন?”
23 Jesus answered and said to him, If any one love me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our abode with him.
যীশু উত্তর দিলেন, “কেউ যদি আমাকে প্রেম করে, সে আমার বাক্য পালন করবে। আমার পিতা তাকে প্রেম করবেন। আমরা তার কাছে আসব এবং তারই সঙ্গে বাস করব।
24 He that loves me not does not keep my words; and the word which ye hear is not mine, but [that] of the Father who has sent me.
যে আমাকে প্রেম করে না, সে আমার শিক্ষাও পালন করে না। তোমরা আমার যেসব বাণী শুনছ, তা আমার নিজের নয়, সেগুলি পিতার, যিনি আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন।
25 These things I have said to you, abiding with you;
“তোমাদের মধ্যে থাকার সময়ে আমি এ সমস্ত কথা বললাম,
26 but the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and will bring to your remembrance all the things which I have said to you.
কিন্তু সেই সহায়, সেই পবিত্র আত্মা, যাঁকে পিতা আমার নামে পাঠাবেন, তিনি সমস্ত বিষয়ে তোমাদের শিক্ষা দেবেন এবং তোমাদের কাছে আমার বলা সমস্ত বাক্য তোমাদের স্মরণ করিয়ে দেবেন।
27 I leave peace with you; I give my peace to you: not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it fear.
আমি তোমাদের মধ্যে শান্তি রেখে যাচ্ছি, আমারই শান্তি তোমাদের দিয়ে যাচ্ছি। জগৎ যেভাবে দেয়, আমি সেভাবে তোমাদের দান করি না। তোমাদের হৃদয় যেন উদ্বিগ্ন না হয় এবং তোমরা ভীত হোয়ো না।
28 Ye have heard that I have said unto you, I go away and I am coming to you. If ye loved me ye would rejoice that I go to the Father, for [my] Father is greater than I.
“তোমরা আমার কাছে শুনেছ, ‘আমি চলে যাচ্ছি, কিন্তু তোমাদের কাছে আবার ফিরে আসছি।’ তোমরা যদি আমাকে প্রেম করতে, আমি পিতার কাছে যাচ্ছি বলে তোমরা উল্লসিত হতে, কারণ পিতা আমার চেয়ে মহান।
29 And now I have told you before it comes to pass, that when it shall have come to pass ye may believe.
এসব ঘটবার আগেই আমি এখন তোমাদের সেসব বলে দিলাম, যেন তা ঘটলে তোমরা বিশ্বাস করতে পারো।
30 I will no longer speak much with you, for the ruler of the world comes, and in me he has nothing;
আমি তোমাদের সঙ্গে আর বেশিক্ষণ কথা বলব না, কারণ এই জগতের অধিকর্তা আসছে। আমার উপর তার কোনো অধিকার নেই।
31 but that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father has commanded me, thus I do. Rise up, let us go hence.
কিন্তু জগৎ যেন শিক্ষাগ্রহণ করে যে, আমি পিতাকে প্রেম করি এবং পিতা আমাকে যা আদেশ করেন, আমি ঠিক তাই পালন করি। “এখন চলো, আমরা এখান থেকে যাই।
