Joel 3
1 For behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall turn again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,
Oui, en ces jours-là et à cette époque, quand je ramènerai les captifs de Juda et de Jérusalem,
2 I will also gather all the nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and I will enter into judgment with them there on account of my people and mine inheritance, Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations: and they have parted my land;
je rassemblerai toutes les nations et les ferai descendre dans la vallée de Josaphat, et là je les mettrai en jugement à cause de mon peuple et d’Israël, mon héritage, qu’ils ont dispersé parmi les peuples, en se partageant mon pays.
3 and they have cast lots for my people, and have given a boy for a harlot, and sold a girl for wine, and have drunk [it].
Mon peuple, ils en ont disposé par la voie du sort; ils ont troqué le jeune homme contre la courtisane, et la jeune fille, ils l’ont cédée contre du vin, pour pouvoir boire.
4 Yea also, what have ye to do with me, O Tyre and Zidon, and all the districts of Philistia? Will ye render me a recompence? But if ye recompense me, swiftly [and] speedily will I bring your recompence upon your own head;
Et de fait, que réclamez-vous de moi, Tyr et Sidon, et vous tous, districts des Philistins? Pré-tendez-vous me rendre la pareille? Essayez donc de m’infliger quelque mauvais traitement: rapidement, sur-le-champ, je ferai retomber votre manière d’agir sur vos têtes.
5 because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my beautiful pleasant things,
Vous avez bien enlevé mon argent et mon or, et enrichi vos sanctuaires de mes trésors les plus précieux!
6 and the children of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the children of the Greeks, that ye might remove them far from their border.
Les fils de Juda et les enfants de Jérusalem, vous les avez vendus aux fils de lawân, pour les emmener loin de leur territoire.
7 Behold, I will raise them up out of the place whither ye have sold them, and will bring your recompence upon your own head.
Mais voici que, réveillant leur courage, je les ramène de la contrée où vous les avez vendus et je fais retomber sur vos têtes un juste châtiment.
8 And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a nation far off: for Jehovah hath spoken.
A votre tour, je vendrai vos fils et vos filles par l’entremise des fils de Juda; ceux-ci les vendront aux Sabéens, à une nation lointaine, car c’est l’Eternel qui le déclare.
9 Proclaim this among the nations: prepare war, arouse the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near, let them come up.
Faites cette annonce parmi les nations: proclamez une guerre sainte! Eveillez l’ardeur des guerriers! Qu’ils s’avancent et entrent en campagne, tous les combattants!
10 Beat your ploughshares into swords, and your pruning-knives into spears; let the weak say, I am strong.
Forgez vos socs de charrue en épées et vos serpettes en lances! Que le plus timoré dise: "Je suis un brave."
11 Haste ye and come, all ye nations round about, and gather yourselves together. Thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O Jehovah.
Hâtez-vous, venez, vous tous, peuples d’alentour, et concentrez-vous! Là, ô Eternel, fais descendre tes guerriers à toi!
12 Let the nations rouse themselves, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat; for there will I sit to judge all the nations round about.
Que les nations s’excitent donc et montent dans la vallée de Josaphat, car là je siégerai pour juger tous les peuples d’alentour.
13 Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down, for the press is full, the vats overflow; for their wickedness is great.
Brandissez la faucille, car la moisson est mûre! Venez pour fouler, le pressoir étant rempli et les cuves débordantes, car grande est leur perversité.
14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of Jehovah is at hand in the valley of decision.
Foules sur foules dans la vallée du Jugement! Car il est proche, le jour de l’Eternel, dans la vallée du Jugement.
15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.
Soleil et lune s’obscurcissent, les étoiles voilent leur éclat.
16 And Jehovah will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: and Jehovah will be a shelter for his people, and the refuge of the children of Israel.
De Sion l’Eternel rugit, de Jérusalem il fait retentir sa voix: ciel et terre en tremblent. Mais l’Eternel est un abri pour son peuple, un refuge fortifié pour les enfants d’Israël.
17 And ye shall know that I, Jehovah, [am] your God, dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain; and Jerusalem shall be holy, and no strangers shall pass through her any more.
Vous reconnaîtrez alors que c’est moi l’Eternel, votre Dieu; je réside à Sion, ma sainte montagne; Jérusalem sera sacrée, et des étrangers n’y passeront plus.
18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the water-courses of Judah shall flow with waters; and a fountain shall come forth from the house of Jehovah, and shall water the valley of Shittim.
En ce jour, les montagnes ruisselleront du jus de la vigne, les collines feront couler du lait, tous les ruisseaux de Juda seront pleins d’eau. Une source jaillira de la maison de l’Eternel et arrosera la vallée de Chittîm.
19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, in that they have shed innocent blood in their land.
L’Egypte sera une solitude, Edom un désert délaissé, en raison de la violence exercée sur les fils de Juda, dont ils ont versé le sang innocent dans leur pays.
20 But Judah shall abide for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.
Juda, au contraire, sera habité à jamais, et Jérusalem de génération en génération.
21 And I will purge them from the blood from which I had not purged them: for Jehovah dwelleth in Zion.
Je vengerai leur sang que je n’avais pas encore vengé, et moi, l’Eternel, je résiderai à Sion.
