< Job 35 >

1 Moreover Elihu answered and said,
Eliihuunis itti fufee akkana jedhe:
2 Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God's?
“Ati waan kana qajeelaa seetaa? Ati, ‘Ani fuula Waaqaa duratti qajeelaa dha’ jetta.
3 For thou hast asked of what profit it is unto thee: what do I gain more than if I had sinned?
Ati, ‘Wanni kun faayidaa maalii naa qaba? Ani cubbuu hojjechuu dhiisuudhaan maalin argadha?’ jettee gaafatta.
4 I will reply to thee in words, and to thy companions with thee.
“Ani siʼii fi michoota kee kanneen si wajjin jiraniif deebii kennuu nan barbaada.
5 Look unto the heavens and see; and survey the skies: they are higher than thou.
Ol jedhiitii samiiwwan ilaali; duumessoota siin ol jiranis argi.
6 If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? If thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
Ati yoo cubbuu hojjette maal isa miita? Cubbuun kees yoo baayʼate maal isa godha?
7 If thou be righteous, what givest thou to him? or what doth he receive of thy hand?
Ati yoo qajeelaa taate, maal isaaf kennita? Yookaan inni harka kee irraa maal argata?
8 Thy wickedness [may affect] a man as thou [art], and thy righteousness a son of man.
Hamminni kee nama akka keetii qofa miidha; qajeelummaan kees ilmaan namaa qofa fayyada.
9 By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry; they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty:
“Waan cunqursaan itti hammaatteef namoonni ni iyyu; irree humna qabeessaa jalaa baʼuufis gargaarsaaf wawwaatu.
10 But none saith, Where is God my Maker, who giveth songs in the night,
Garuu namni tokko iyyuu akkana hin jedhu; ‘Waaqni Uumaan koo, inni halkaniin faarfannaa namaa kennu,
11 Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowl of the heavens?
kan bineensota lafa irraa caalaa beektota, simbirroo samii caalaas ogeeyyii nu godhu eessa jira?’
12 There they cry, and he answereth not, because of the pride of evil men.
Inni sababii of tuulummaa jalʼootaatiif yommuu namoonni iyyanitti deebii hin kennu.
13 Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
Dhugumaan Waaqni iyya isaanii kan gatii hin qabne sana hin dhaggeeffatu; Waaqni Waan Hunda Dandaʼu iyya sanaaf gurra hin kennu.
14 Although thou sayest thou dost not see him, judgment is before him, therefore wait for him.
Yoo ati, ‘Dubbiin koo fuula isaa dura jira; ani isa eeggachaan jira; garuu isa arguu hin dandaʼu’ jette, inni hammam kanaa gad iyyuu xinneessee haa dhagaʼu ree!
15 But now, because he hath not visited in his anger, doth not [Job] know [his] great arrogancy?
Amma illee sababii dheekkamsi isaa nama hin adabneef, sababii inni balleessaa namaa akka waan guddaa tokkootti hin fudhanneef,
16 For Job hath opened his mouth in vanity, and made words abundant without knowledge.
Iyyoob oduu faayidaa hin qabneen afaan bana; beekumsa malees dubbii baayʼisa.”
