< Job 33 >
1 Howbeit, Job, I pray thee, hear mine utterances, and hearken to all my words.
“Ǹjẹ́ nítorí náà, Jobu, èmí bẹ̀ ọ, gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ mi kí o sì fetísí ọ̀rọ̀ mi!
2 Behold now, I have opened my mouth, my tongue speaketh in my palate,
Kíyèsi i nísinsin yìí, èmí ya ẹnu mi, ahọ́n mi sì sọ̀rọ̀ ní ẹnu mi.
3 My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart, and my lips shall utter knowledge purely.
Ọ̀rọ̀ mi yóò sì jásí ìdúró ṣinṣin ọkàn mi, ètè mi yóò sì sọ ìmọ̀ mi jáde dájúdájú.
4 The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
Ẹ̀mí Ọlọ́run ni ó tí dá mi, àti ìmísí Olódùmarè ni ó ti fún mi ní ìyè.
5 If thou canst, answer me; array [thy words] before me: take thy stand.
Bí ìwọ bá le dá mi lóhùn, tò ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ lẹ́sẹẹsẹ níwájú mi;
6 Behold, before God I am as thou; I also am formed out of the clay.
kíyèsi i, bí ìwọ ṣe jẹ́ ti Ọlọ́run, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni èmi náà; láti amọ̀ wá ni a sì ti dá mi pẹ̀lú.
7 Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, nor my burden be heavy upon thee.
Kíyèsi i, ẹ̀rù ńlá mi kì yóò bà ọ; bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ọwọ́ mi kì yóò wúwo sí ọ lára.
8 Surely thou hast spoken in my hearing, and I have heard the voice of [thy] words: —
“Nítòótọ́ ìwọ sọ ní etí mi, èmí sì gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ̀ wí pé,
9 I am clean without transgression; I am pure, and there is no iniquity in me;
‘Èmi mọ́, láìní ìrékọjá, aláìṣẹ̀ ní èmi; bẹ́ẹ̀ àìṣedéédéé kò sí ní ọwọ́ mi.
10 Lo, he findeth occasions of hostility against me, he counteth me for his enemy;
Kíyèsi i, Ọlọ́run ti rí àìṣedéédéé pẹ̀lú mi; ó kà mí sì ọ̀tá rẹ̀.
11 He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.
Ó kan ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ mi sínú àbà; o kíyèsi ipa ọ̀nà mi gbogbo.’
12 Behold, I will answer thee in this, thou art not right; for God is greater than man.
“Kíyèsi i, nínú èyí ìwọ ṣìnà! Èmi ó dá ọ lóhùn pé, Ọlọ́run tóbi jù ènìyàn lọ!
13 Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.
Nítorí kí ni ìwọ ṣe ń bá a jà, wí pé, òun kò ní sọ ọ̀rọ̀ kan nítorí iṣẹ́ rẹ̀?
14 For God speaketh once, and twice, — [and man] perceiveth it not —
Nítorí pe Ọlọ́run sọ̀rọ̀ lẹ́ẹ̀kan, àní, lẹ́ẹ̀kejì, ṣùgbọ́n ènìyàn kò róye rẹ̀.
15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;
Nínú àlá, ní ojúran òru, nígbà tí orun èjìká bá kùn ènìyàn lọ, ní sísùn lórí ibùsùn,
16 Then he openeth men's ears, and sealeth their instruction,
nígbà náà ni ó lè sọ̀rọ̀ ní etí wọn, yóò sì dẹ́rùbà wọ́n pẹ̀lú ìbáwí,
17 That he may withdraw man [from his] work, and hide pride from man.
kí ó lè fa ènìyàn sẹ́yìn kúrò nínú ètè rẹ̀; kí ó sì pa ìgbéraga mọ́ kúrò lọ́dọ̀ ènìyàn;
18 He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from passing away by the sword.
Ó sì fa ọkàn rẹ̀ padà kúrò nínú isà òkú, àti ẹ̀mí rẹ̀ láti ṣègbé lọ́wọ́ idà.
19 He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and with constant strife in his bones;
“A sì nà án lórí ibùsùn ìrora rẹ̀; pẹ̀lúpẹ̀lú a fi ìjà egungun rẹ̀ ti ó dúró pẹ́ nà án,
20 And his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty food;
bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ẹ̀mí rẹ kọ oúnjẹ, ọkàn rẹ̀ sì kọ oúnjẹ dídùn.
21 His flesh is consumed away from view, and his bones that were not seen stick out;
Ẹran-ara rẹ̀ run, títí a kò sì fi lè rí i mọ́ egungun rẹ̀ tí a kò tí rí sì ta jáde.
22 And his soul draweth near to the pit, and his life to the destroyers.
Àní, ọkàn rẹ̀ sì súnmọ́ isà òkú, ẹ̀mí rẹ̀ sì súnmọ́ ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn ìránṣẹ́ ikú.
23 If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his duty;
Bí angẹli kan ba wà lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀, ẹni tí ń ṣe alágbàwí, ọ̀kan nínú ẹgbẹ̀rún láti fi ọ̀nà pípé hàn ni,
24 Then he will be gracious unto him, and say, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
nígbà náà ni ó ṣe oore-ọ̀fẹ́ fún un ó sì wí pé, gbà á kúrò nínú lílọ sínú isà òkú; èmi ti rà á padà.
25 His flesh shall be fresher than in childhood; he shall return to the days of his youth.
Ara rẹ̀ yóò sì di ọ̀tun bí i ti ọmọ kékeré, yóò sì tún padà sí ọjọ́ ìgbà èwe rẹ̀;
26 He shall pray unto God, and he will receive him with favour; and he shall see his face with shoutings, and he will render unto man his righteousness.
Ó gbàdúrà sọ́dọ̀ Ọlọ́run, òun sì ṣe ojúrere rẹ̀, o sì rí ojú rẹ̀ pẹ̀lú ayọ̀, òhun o san òdodo rẹ̀ padà fún ènìyàn.
27 He will sing before men, and say, I have sinned, and perverted what was right, and it hath not been requited to me;
Ó wá sọ́dọ̀ ènìyàn ó sì wí pé, ‘Èmi ṣẹ̀, kò sì ṣí èyí tí o tọ́, mo sì ti yí èyí tí ó tọ́ po, a kò sì san ẹ̀san rẹ̀ fún mi;
28 He hath delivered my soul from going into the pit, and my life shall see the light.
Ọlọ́run ti gba ọkàn mi kúrò nínú lílọ sínú ihò, ẹ̀mí mi yóò wà láti jẹ adùn ìmọ́lẹ̀ ayé.’
29 Lo, all these [things] worketh God twice, thrice, with man,
“Wò ó! Nǹkan wọ̀nyí ni Ọlọ́run máa ń ṣe fún ènìyàn nígbà méjì àti nígbà mẹ́ta,
30 To bring back his soul from the pit, that he may be enlightened with the light of the living.
láti mú ọkàn rẹ padà kúrò nínú isà òkú, láti fi ìmọ́lẹ̀ alààyè han sí i.
31 Mark well, Job, hearken unto me; be silent, and I will speak.
“Jobu, kíyèsi i gidigidi, kí o sì fetí sí mi; pa ẹnu rẹ mọ́, èmi ó sì máa sọ ọ́.
32 If thou hast anything to say, answer me; speak, for I desire to justify thee.
Bí ìwọ bá sì ní ohun wí, dá mi lóhùn; máa sọ, nítorí pé èmi fẹ́ dá ọ láre.
33 If not, hearken thou unto me; be silent, and I will teach thee wisdom.
Bí bẹ́ẹ̀ kọ́, gbọ́ tèmi; pa ẹnu rẹ mọ́, èmi ó sì kọ́ ọ ní ọgbọ́n.”
