Job 15
1 And Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
Då svarade Eliphas af Thema, och sade:
2 Should a wise man answer with windy knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind,
Skall en vis man tala så i vädret, och uppfylla sin buk med väder?
3 Reasoning with unprofitable talk, and with speeches which do no good?
Du straffar med onyttigom ordom, och ditt tal kommer intet till gagns.
4 Yea, thou makest piety of none effect, and restrainest meditation before God.
Du hafver bortkastat räddhågan, och talar förakteliga för Gudi;
5 For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou hast chosen the tongue of the crafty.
Ty så lärer din ondska din mun, och du hafver utvalt ena skalkatungo.
6 Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I; and thy lips testify against thee.
Din mun skall fördöma dig, och icke jag; dina läppar skola svara dig.
7 Art thou the first man that was born? and wast thou brought forth before the hills?
Äst du den första menniska, som född är? Äst du för all berg aflader?
8 Hast thou listened in the secret council of God? And hast thou absorbed wisdom for thyself?
Hafver du hört Guds hemliga råd? Och är sjelfva visdomen ringare än du?
9 What knowest thou that we know not? [what] understandest thou which is not in us?
Hvad vetst du, det vi icke vete? Hvad förstår du, det som icke är när oss?
10 Both the greyheaded and the aged are with us, older than thy father.
Gråhårote och gamle äro när oss, som länger hafva lefvat än dine fäder.
11 Are the consolations of God too small for thee? and the word gently spoken to thee?
Skulle Guds hugsvalelse så ringa aktas för dig? Men du hafver något hemligit stycke när dig.
12 Why doth thy heart carry thee away? and why do thine eyes wink?
Hvad tager ditt hjerta före? Hvi ser du så stolt ut?
13 That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest words go out of thy mouth?
Hvi sätter ditt sinne sig emot Gud, att du låter sådana ord gå af dinom mun?
14 What is man, that he should be pure? and he that is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
Hvad är en menniska, att hon skulle vara ren; och att han skulle vara rättfärdig, som af qvinno född är?
15 Behold, he putteth no trust in his holy ones, and the heavens are not pure in his sight:
Si, ibland hans helga är ingen ostraffelig, och himlarna äro icke rene för honom.
16 How much less the abominable and corrupt, — man, that drinketh unrighteousness like water!
Huru mycket mer menniskan, som är stygg och ond; den der orättfärdighetena dricker såsom vatten?
17 I will shew thee, listen to me; and what I have seen I will declare;
Jag vill visa dig det, hör mig; jag vill förtälja dig, hvad jag sett hafver;
18 Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hidden;
Hvad de vise sagt hafva, och för deras fader icke hafver fördoldt varit;
19 Unto whom alone the earth was given, and no stranger passed among them.
Hvilkom allena landet gifvet är, så att ingen främmande må gå ibland dem.
20 All his days the wicked man is tormented, and numbered years are allotted to the violent.
En ogudaktig bäfvar i alla sina lifsdagar, och enom tyrann är hans åratal fördoldt.
21 The sound of terrors is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer cometh upon him.
Hvad han hörer, det förskräcker honom; och ändå att frid är, så hafver han dock den sorg, att han skall förderfvas.
22 He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is singled out for the sword.
Han tror icke, att han skall kunna undfly olyckona, och förmodar sig alltid svärdet.
23 He wandereth abroad for bread, — where may it be? He knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
När han far ut hit och dit efter sin näring, så tycker honom att hans olyckos tid är för handene.
24 Distress and anguish make him afraid; they prevail against him, as a king ready for the battle.
Ångest och nöd förskräcka honom, och slå honom ned, såsom en Konung med enom här;
25 For he hath stretched out his hand against God, and strengthened himself against the Almighty:
Ty han hafver utsträckt sina hand emot Gud, och emot den Allsmägtiga förstärkt sig.
26 He runneth against him, with [outstretched] neck, with the thick bosses of his bucklers;
Han löper med hufvudet emot honom, och står halsstyf emot honom.
27 For he hath covered his face with his fatness, and gathered fat upon [his] flanks.
Han hafver upphäfvit sig emot honom, och satt sig hårdt emot honom.
28 And he dwelleth in desolate cities, in houses that no man inhabiteth, which are destined to become heaps.
Men han skall bo i nederslagna städer, der inga hus äro; utan ligga i enom hop.
29 He shall not become rich, neither shall his substance continue, and their possessions shall not extend upon the earth.
Han skall icke varda rik, och hans gods skall icke förökas; och skall icke utspridas i landena.
30 He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches; and by the breath of his mouth shall he go away.
Han skall icke undfly olycko; eldslågen skall förtorka hans grenar; och skall varda borttagen af hans muns anda.
31 Let him not trust in vanity: he is deceived, for vanity shall be his recompense;
Han är så bedragen, att han icke tror att det skall varda värre med honom.
32 It shall be complete before his day, and his branch shall not be green.
Han får en ända, när honom obeqvämt är; och hans gren skall icke grönskas.
33 He shall shake off his unripe grapes as a vine, and shall cast his flower as an olive.
Han varder afhemtad såsom en omogen drufva af vinträt, och såsom ett oljoträ bortfaller sitt blomster.
34 For the family of the ungodly shall be barren, and fire shall consume the tents of bribery.
Ty de skrymtares församling skall blifva ensam, och elden skall förtära hans hus, som gåfvor tager.
35 They conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity, and their belly prepareth deceit.
Han anar olycko, och föder vedermödo; och deras buk bär list fram.
