< Jeremiah 45 >

1 The word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Nerijah, when he wrote these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, saying,
Èyí ni ọ̀rọ̀ tí Jeremiah wòlíì sọ fún Baruku ọmọ Neriah ní ọdún kẹrin ti Jehoiakimu ọmọ Josiah ọba Juda. Lẹ́yìn tí Baruku ti kọ sínú ìwé kíká àwọn ọ̀rọ̀ tí Jeremiah ti ń sọ:
2 Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, concerning thee, Baruch:
“Èyí ni ohun tí Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli sọ fún ọ, Baruku.
3 Thou didst say, Woe unto me! for Jehovah hath added grief to my sorrow; I am weary with my sighing, and I find no rest.
Ìwọ wí pé, ‘Ègbé ni fún mi! Olúwa ti fi ìbànújẹ́ kún ìrora mi, àárẹ̀ mú mi nínú ẹ̀dùn mi, èmi kò sì rí ìsinmi.’”
4 Thus shalt thou say unto him, Thus saith Jehovah: Behold, what I have built do I overthrow, and what I have planted I pluck up, even this whole land.
Olúwa wí pé sọ èyí fún un, “Èyí ni Ọlọ́run sọ: ‘Èyí tí èmi ti kọ́ ni èmi yóò wò lulẹ̀, àti èyí tí èmi ti gbìn ni èmi yóò fàtu, àní ní orí gbogbo ilẹ̀.
5 And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek [them] not; for behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith Jehovah; but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou shalt go.
Ṣé ìwọ sì ń wá ohun títóbi fún ara rẹ? Nítorí náà, má ṣe wá wọn. Èmi yóò mú ibi wá sí orí àwọn ènìyàn gbogbo ni Olúwa wí, ṣùgbọ́n níbikíbi tí ìwọ bá lọ ni èmi yóò jẹ́ kí o sá àsálà pẹ̀lú ẹ̀mí rẹ.’”
