< Jeremiah 31 >
1 At that time, saith Jehovah, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “ʻI he kuonga ko ia, te u hoko ko e ʻOtua ki he ngaahi faʻahinga kotoa pē ʻo ʻIsileli, pea ko hoku kakai ʻakinautolu.
2 Thus saith Jehovah: The people [that were] left of the sword have found grace in the wilderness, [even] Israel, when I go to give him rest.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, Ko e kakai naʻe hao ʻi he heletā naʻe ʻilo ʻae ʻofa ʻi he toafa; ʻio, ko ʻIsileli, naʻaku fai ke aʻutaki ia ki he mālōlō.
3 Jehovah hath appeared from afar unto me, [saying, ] Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee.
Talu mei muʻa kuo hā mai kiate au ʻa Sihova, ʻo pehē, Ko e moʻoni, kuo u ʻofa ʻaki kiate koe ʻae ʻofa taʻengata: ko ia kuo u toho ʻaki koe ʻae ʻofa ongongofua.
4 I will build thee again, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel! Thou shalt again be adorned with thy tambours, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.
Pea te u toe langa koe, pea ʻe langa hake koe, ʻE taʻahine ʻo ʻIsileli: ʻe toe teuteu ʻaki koe ho ngaahi meʻa faiva, pea te ke ʻalu koe ke meʻe mo kinautolu ʻoku fiefia.
5 Thou shalt again plant vineyards upon the mountains of Samaria; the planters shall plant, and shall eat the fruit.
Te ke toe tō ʻae ngaahi vaine ʻi he ngaahi moʻunga ʻo Samēlia, ʻe tō ia ʻe he kau ngoue, pea ʻe kai ia ʻo hangē ko e ngaahi meʻa ngofua.
6 For there shall be a day, when the watchmen upon mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise, and let us go up to Zion, unto Jehovah our God.
Pea ʻe hokosia ʻae ʻaho, ʻe kalanga ai ʻae kau tangata leʻo ʻi he moʻunga ko ʻIfalemi, ‘Mou tuʻu hake, pea ke tau ʻalu hake ki Saione, kia Sihova ko hotau ʻOtua.’”
7 For thus saith Jehovah: Sing aloud [with] gladness for Jacob, and shout at the head of the nations; publish ye, praise ye, and say, Jehovah, save thy people, the remnant of Israel.
He ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova; “Mou hiva ʻaki ʻae fiefia kia Sēkope, pea kalanga ʻi he lotolotonga ʻoe ngaahi kakai lahi: mou fakahā, mou fakafetaʻi, ʻo pehē, ʻE Sihova, fakamoʻui ʻa hoʻo kakai, ʻae toenga [kakai ]ʻo ʻIsileli.
8 Behold, I bring them from the north country, and gather them from the uttermost parts of the earth; [and] among them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great assemblage shall they return hither.
Vakai, te u ʻomi ʻakinautolu mei he fonua ʻi he tokelau, pea tānaki ʻakinautolu mei he ngaahi ngataʻanga ʻo māmani, ko kinautolu mo e kui pea mo e pipiki, mo e fefine feitama, pea mo ia ʻoku langā: ʻe liliu mai ki heni ʻae fuʻu tokolahi.
9 They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them; I will cause them to walk by water-brooks, in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble; for I will be a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.
Te nau haʻu mo e tangi, pea ʻi he lotu tāumaʻu te u tataki ʻakinautolu: te u fakaʻeveʻeva ʻakinautolu ʻi he ngaahi veʻe vaitafe ʻi he hala tokalelei, ʻaia ʻe ʻikai te nau tūkia ai: he ko e tamai au ki ʻIsileli, pea ko ʻeku ʻuluaki fānau ʻa ʻIfalemi.”
10 Hear the word of Jehovah, ye nations, and declare [it] to the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd his flock.
Fanongo ki he folofola ʻa Sihova, “ʻAkimoutolu ʻae ngaahi puleʻanga, pea fakahā ia ʻi he ngaahi motu mamaʻo, ʻo pehē, Ko ia naʻe fakamovetevete ʻa ʻIsileli te ne toe tānaki ia, pea leʻohi ia, ʻo hangē ko e tauhi ki heʻene fanga manu.
11 For Jehovah hath ransomed Jacob, and redeemed him from the hand of one stronger than he.
He kuo huhuʻi ʻe Sihova ʻa Sēkope, pea huhuʻi ia mei he nima ʻo ia naʻe mālohi kiate ia.
12 And they shall come and sing aloud upon the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of Jehovah, for corn, and for new wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd; and their soul shall be as a watered garden, and they shall not languish any more at all.
Ko ia te nau haʻu ʻo hiva ʻi he ngaahi potu māʻolunga ʻo Saione, pea te nau fakataha ki he angalelei ʻa Sihova, ki he uite, mo e uaine, mo e lolo, mo e ʻuhiki ʻoe fanga sipi, pea mo e manu: pea ʻe tatau honau laumālie mo e ngoue kuo fakaviviku; pea ʻe ʻikai ʻaupito te nau toe mamahi.
13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, and the young men and old together; for I will turn their mourning into gladness, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice after their sorrow.
Pea ʻe toki fiefia ʻae taʻahine ʻi he meʻe, ko e talavou mo e motuʻa fakataha: he te u liliu ʻenau mamahi ko e fiefia, pea te u fakafiemālieʻi ʻakinautolu pea fakafiefiaʻi ʻakinautolu ʻi he hili ʻenau mamahi.
14 And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith Jehovah.
Pea te u fakamākona ʻaki ʻae ngako ʻae laumālie ʻoe kau taulaʻeiki, pea ʻe mākona ʻa hoku kakai ʻi heʻeku angalelei, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.”
15 Thus saith Jehovah: A voice hath been heard in Ramah, the wail of very bitter weeping, — Rachel weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted for her children, because they are not.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; “Naʻe ongoʻi ʻi Lama ʻae leʻo ko e tangi, mo e tangilāulau; ko e tangi ʻa Lesieli ʻi heʻene fānau pea ʻe ʻikai te ne tali ʻae fiemālie koeʻuhi ko ʻene fānau, he kuo ʻikai ʻakinautolu.
16 Thus saith Jehovah: Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears; for there is a reward for thy work, saith Jehovah; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; taʻofi ho leʻo mei he tangi, pea mo ho mata mei he loʻimata: he ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, ʻe totongi hoʻo ngāue; pea te nau toe haʻu mei he fonua ʻoe fili.
17 And there is hope for thy latter end, saith Jehovah, and thy children shall come again to their own border.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, ʻOku ai ʻae ʻamanaki ʻi ho ikuʻanga, koeʻuhi ʻe toe ʻomi ʻa hoʻo fānau ki honau fonua.
18 I have indeed heard Ephraim bemoaning himself [thus]: Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised as a bullock not trained: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art Jehovah my God.
“Ko e moʻoni kuo u fanongo kia ʻIfalemi ʻoku ne fakamamahi ʻe ia ia, ʻo pehē; ‘Kuo ke valoki mai pea kuo valokiʻi au ʻo hangē ko e pulu ʻoku taʻemaheni ai mo e haʻamonga: fakatafoki au pea te u tafoki; he ko koe ko Sihova ko hoku ʻOtua.
19 Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after I knew myself, I smote upon [my] thigh. I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, for I bear the reproach of my youth.
Pea hili ʻeku tafoki naʻaku fakatomala moʻoni; pea u taaʻi hoku tenga ʻi he hili hoku akonakiʻi: naʻaku mā, ʻio, mo puputuʻu, koeʻuhi kuo u fua ʻae ongoongo kovi ʻo ʻeku kei siʻi.’
20 Is Ephraim a dear son unto me? is he a child of delights? For whilst I have been speaking against him, I do constantly remember him still. Therefore my bowels are troubled for him: I will certainly have mercy upon him, saith Jehovah.
ʻIkai ko hoku foha ʻofeina ʻa ʻIfalemi? ʻIkai ko e tamasiʻi fakaʻofoʻofa ia? He kuo talu ʻeku lea kiate ia, ʻoku ou kei manatu lahi kiate ia: ko ia ʻoku mamahi hoku fatu koeʻuhi ko ia; ko e moʻoni te u ʻofa kiate ia, ʻoku pehē mai ʻa Sihova.
21 Set up waymarks, make for thyself signposts; set thy heart toward the highway, the way by which thou wentest: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these thy cities.
Ke ke fokotuʻu ʻae ngaahi fakaʻilonga ʻoe hala, fokotuʻu ʻae ngaahi fakaʻilonga māʻolunga: fakahanga ho loto ki he hala lahi, ke ke liliu mai ʻi he hala naʻa ke ʻalu ai, ʻE taʻahine ʻo ʻIsileli, ke ke liliu mai ki hoʻo ngaahi kolo ni.”
22 How long wilt thou wander about, thou backsliding daughter? For Jehovah hath created a new thing on the earth, a woman shall encompass a man.
ʻE ʻofefine fakaholomui, ʻe fēfē hono fuoloa ʻa hoʻo ʻalu fano? He kuo fakatupu ʻe Sihova ha meʻa foʻou ʻi he fonua, ʻe auna ʻe he fefine ʻae tangata mālohi.”
23 Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: They shall again use this speech, in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall turn their captivity: Jehovah bless thee, O habitation of righteousness, mountain of holiness!
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau, ko e ʻOtua ʻo ʻIsileli; “Te nau lea ʻaki ʻae lea ni ʻi he fonua ʻo Siuta pea ʻi hono ngaahi kolo, ʻo kau ka fakatafoki ʻenau pōpula; ‘Ke tāpuakiʻi koe ʻe Sihova, ʻa koe ko e nofoʻanga ʻoe angatonu, pea ko e moʻunga ʻoe māʻoniʻoni.’
24 And therein shall dwell Judah, and all the cities thereof together, the husbandmen, and they that go about with flocks.
Pea ʻe nofo ʻi Siuta mo hono ngaahi kolo kotoa pē, ʻae kau tangata tauhi, mo kinautolu ʻoku ʻalu atu mo ʻenau fanga manu.
25 For I have satiated the weary soul, and every languishing soul have I replenished.
He kuo u fakainu ʻae laumālie ʻoku vaivai, pea kuo u fakamākona ʻae laumālie kotoa pē ʻoku mamahi.
26 — Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.
Pea naʻaku ʻā ʻi he meʻa ni, pea u vakai; pea naʻe lelei kiate au ʻeku mohe.
27 Behold, days come, saith Jehovah, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah [with] the seed of man and the seed of beast.
“ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, Vakai, ʻoku haʻu ʻae ngaahi ʻaho, ʻaia te u tūtuuʻi ai ʻae hako ʻoe tangata mo e hako ʻoe manu ki he fale ʻo ʻIsileli pea mo e fale ʻo Siuta.
28 And it shall come to pass, as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to overthrow, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them to build, and to plant, saith Jehovah.
Pea ʻe hoko ʻo pehē, ʻo hangē naʻaku leʻohi ʻakinautolu, ke taʻaki fuʻu hake, mo fesiʻi hifo, pea lī ki lalo, mo fakaʻauha, mo fakamamahi; ʻe pehē ʻeku leʻohi ʻakinautolu, ke langa, mo tō, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
29 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge:
Pea ʻe ʻikai te nau toe lea pehē ʻi he ʻaho ko ia, ‘Kuo kai ʻe he ngaahi tamai ʻae kālepi mahi, pea kuo maninia ʻae nifo ʻoe fānau.’
30 for every one shall die for his own iniquity; every man that eateth the sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge.
Ka ʻe mate ʻae tangata taki taha ʻi heʻene hia ʻaʻana: ʻe maninia ʻae nifo ʻoe tangata taki taha ʻoku kai ki he kālepi mahi.”
31 Behold, days come, saith Jehovah, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, Vakai, ʻe hoko mai ʻae ngaahi ʻaho, te u fai ai ʻae fuakava foʻou mo e fale ʻo ʻIsileli, pea mo e fale ʻo Siuta:
32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, in the day of my taking them by the hand, to lead them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they broke, although I was a husband unto them, saith Jehovah.
ʻO ʻikai tatau mo e fuakava ʻaia ne u fai mo ʻenau ngaahi tamai, ʻi he ʻaho ko ia naʻaku puke ai honau nima ke tataki ʻakinautolu mei he fonua ko ʻIsipite; ʻaia ko e fuakava ʻaʻaku naʻa nau maumauʻi; ka ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova, ne u hangē ko e husepāniti kiate kinautolu.
33 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel, after those days, saith Jehovah: I will put my law in their inward parts, and will write it in their heart; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know Jehovah; for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith Jehovah: for I will pardon their iniquity, and their sin will I remember no more.
Pea ʻe ʻikai te nau taki taha ako ki hono kaungāʻapi, mo taki taha ki hono kāinga, ʻo pehē, Ke ʻilo ʻa Sihova: he te nau ʻilo kotoa pē au, mei he iiki ʻo aʻu ki he lalahi ʻiate kinautolu, ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova: he te u fakamolemole ʻenau hia, pea ʻe ʻikai te u toe manatu ki heʻenau angahala.
35 Thus saith Jehovah, who giveth the sun for light by day, the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for light by night, who stirreth up the sea so that the waves thereof roar, — Jehovah of hosts is his name:
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, ʻaia ʻoku ne foaki ʻae laʻā ko e maama ki he ʻaho, pea kuo tuʻutuʻuni ʻae māhina mo e ngaahi fetuʻu ko e maama ki he pō, ʻaia ʻoku ne vahevahe ʻae tahi ʻi he ʻuʻulu ʻa hono ngaahi peau; ko Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau ko hono huafa.
36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith Jehovah, the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, Kapau ʻe mole ʻi hoku ʻao ʻae ngaahi tuʻutuʻuni ni, pea ʻe toki fakangata ʻae puleʻanga ʻoe hako ʻo ʻIsileli ʻi hoku ʻao ʻo taʻengata.
37 Thus saith Jehovah: If the heavens above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off the whole seed of Israel, for all that they have done, saith Jehovah.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova; Kapau ʻoku faʻa fuofua ʻae langi ʻi ʻolunga, pea faʻa hakule ʻae ngaahi tuʻunga ʻi lalo ʻo māmani, te u toki liʻaki foki ʻae hako kotoa pē ʻo ʻIsileli, koeʻuhi ko e meʻa kotoa pē ʻaia kuo nau fai, ʻoku pehē ʻe Sihova.
38 Behold, the days come, saith Jehovah, that the city shall be built to Jehovah, from the tower of Hananeel unto the corner-gate.
ʻOku pehē ʻe Sihova, “Vakai, ʻoku haʻu ʻae ngaahi ʻaho, ʻaia ʻe langa ai ʻae kolo kia Sihova mei he potu fale leʻo ʻo Hananili ki he matapā ʻoe tuliki.
39 And the measuring line shall yet go forth before it unto the hill Gareb, and shall turn toward Goath.
Pea ʻe falō totonu ʻae meʻa fuofua ʻiate ia, ki he moʻunga ko Kalepi, pea ʻe tākai ʻaki ki Koate.
40 And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the torrent Kidron, unto the corner of the horse-gate toward the east, shall be holy unto Jehovah: it shall not be plucked up, nor overthrown any more for ever.
Pea ʻe māʻoniʻoni kia Sihova ʻae teleʻa ʻoe ngaahi ʻangaʻanga, pea mo e efu, pea mo e ngaahi ngoue kotoa pē ʻo aʻu ki he vaitafe ko Kitiloni, ʻo aʻu ki he tuliki ʻoe matapā hoosi ʻoku hanga ki he tokelau, pea ʻe ʻikai toe taʻaki ia, pe toe lī ki lalo ʻo taʻengata.”
