Jeremiah 22
1 Thus saith Jehovah: Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word,
Assim diz o Senhor: Desce á casa do rei de Judah, e falla ali esta palavra.
2 and say, Hear the word of Jehovah, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people who enter in through these gates.
E dize: Ouve a palavra do Senhor, ó rei de Judah, que te assentas no throno de David: tu, e os teus servos, e o teu povo, que entraes por estas portas.
3 Thus saith Jehovah: Execute judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor; and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, or the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place.
Assim diz o Senhor: Fazei juizo e justiça, e livrae o roubado da mão do oppressor; e não opprimaes ao estrangeiro, nem ao orphão, nem á viuva; não façaes violencia, nem derrameis sangue innocente n'este logar.
4 For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in through the gates of this house kings sitting in the place of David upon his throne, riding in chariots and on horses, — he, and his servants, and his people.
Porque, se devéras fizerdes esta palavra, entrarão pelas portas d'esta casa os reis que se assentam no logar de David sobre o seu throno, em carros e montados em cavallos, elles, e os seus servos, e o seu povo.
5 But if ye will not hear these words, I have sworn by myself, saith Jehovah, that this house shall become a waste.
Porém, se não derdes ouvidos a estas palavras, por mim mesmo tenho jurado, diz o Senhor, que esta casa se tornará em assolação.
6 For thus saith Jehovah concerning the house of the king of Judah: Thou art a Gilead unto me, the summit of Lebanon: verily I will make thee a wilderness, cities not inhabited.
Porque assim diz o Senhor ácerca da casa do rei de Judah: Tu és para mim Gilead, e a altura do Libano: por certo que farei de ti um deserto e cidades deshabitadas.
7 And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons; and they shall cut down the choice of thy cedars, and cast [them] into the fire.
Porque prepararei contra ti destruidores, cada um com as suas armas: e cortarão os teus cedros escolhidos, e lançal-os-hão no fogo.
8 And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath Jehovah done thus unto this great city?
E muitas nações passarão por esta cidade, e dirá cada um ao seu companheiro: Porque obrou o Senhor assim com esta grande cidade?
9 And they shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of Jehovah their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.
E dirão: Porque deixaram o concerto do Senhor seu Deus, e se inclinaram diante de deuses alheios, e os serviram.
10 Weep not for the dead, neither bemoan him; [but] weep sore for him that goeth away, for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.
Não choreis o morto, nem o lastimeis: chorae abundantemente aquelle que sae, porque nunca mais tornará, nem verá a terra onde nasceu.
11 For thus saith Jehovah concerning Shallum the son of Josiah, the king of Judah, who reigned instead of Josiah his father, who went forth out of this place: He shall not return thither any more;
Porque assim diz o Senhor ácerca de Shallum, filho de Josias, rei de Judah, que reinava em logar de Josias seu pae, que saiu d'este logar: Nunca ali tornará mais.
12 for he shall die in the place whither they have led him captive, and shall see this land no more.
Mas no logar para onde o levaram captivo ali morrerá, e nunca mais verá esta terra.
13 Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his upper chambers by injustice; that taketh his neighbour's service without wages, and giveth him not his earning;
Ai d'aquelle que edifica a sua casa com injustiça, e os seus aposentos sem razão, que se serve do serviço do seu proximo sem paga, e não lhe dá o salario do seu trabalho.
14 that saith, I will build me a wide house, and spacious upper chambers; and he cutteth out for himself windows; and it is wainscoted with cedar, and painted with vermilion.
Que diz: Edificar-me-hei uma casa espaçosa, e aposentos largos: e lhe abre janellas, e está forrada de cedro, e pintada de vermelhão.
15 Shalt thou reign, because thou viest with the cedar? Did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice? Then it was well with him.
Porventura reinarás, porque te encerras em cedro? acaso teu pae não comeu e bebeu, e não usou de juizo e justiça? e então lhe succedeu bem.
16 He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well. Was not this to know me? saith Jehovah.
Julgou a causa do afflicto e necessitado; então lhe succedeu bem; porventura não é isto conhecer-me? diz o Senhor.
17 But thine eyes and thy heart are only on thine extortion, and on the blood of the innocent, to shed it, and on oppression and on violence, to do it.
Porém os teus olhos e o teu coração não attentam senão para a tua avareza, e para o sangue innocente, para derramal-o, e para a oppressão, e para a violencia, para os levar a effeito.
18 Therefore thus saith Jehovah concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, the king of Judah: They shall not lament for him, Ah, my brother! or, Ah, sister! They shall not lament for him, Ah, lord! or Ah, his glory!
Portanto assim diz o Senhor ácerca de Joaquim, filho de Josias, rei de Judah: Não lamentarão por elle, dizendo: Ai, irmão meu, ou, Ai, irmã minha! nem lamentarão por elle, dizendo: Ai, Senhor, ou, Ai, sua magestade!
19 He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, dragged along and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.
Em sepultura de jumento será sepultado, arrastando-o e lançando-o para bem longe, fóra das portas de Jerusalem.
20 Go up to Lebanon, and cry; and give forth thy voice in Bashan, and cry from [the heights of] Abarim: for all thy lovers are destroyed.
Sobe ao Libano, e clama, e levanta a tua voz em Basan, e clama pelas passagens, que já estão quebrantados os teus namorados.
21 I spoke unto thee in thy prosperity; [but] thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy way from thy youth, that thou hearkenedst not unto my voice.
Fallei comtigo na tua posteridade, porém tu disseste: Não ouvirei. Este é o teu caminho, desde a tua mocidade, que nunca déste ouvidos á minha voz.
22 The wind shall feed on all thy shepherds, and thy lovers shall go into captivity; surely, then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.
O vento apascentará a todos os teus pastores, e os teus namorados irão para o captiveiro: certamente então te confundirás, e te envergonharás, por causa de toda a tua maldade.
23 Thou inhabitress of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how pitiful shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, pain as of a woman in travail!
Ó tu, que habitas no Libano e fazes o teu ninho nos cedros, quão lastimada serás quando te vierem as dôres e os ais como da que está de parto!
24 [As] I live, saith Jehovah, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, the king of Judah, were a signet upon my right hand, yet will I pluck thee thence;
Vivo eu, diz o Senhor, que ainda que Conias, filho de Joaquim, rei de Judah, fosse o annel do sello na minha mão direita, que d'ali te arrancaria.
25 and I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them before whom thou art afraid, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.
E te entregarei na mão dos que buscam a tua vida, e na mão d'aquelles diante de quem tu temes, a saber, na mão de Nabucodonozor, rei de Babylonia, e na mão dos chaldeos.
26 And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bare thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.
E lançar-te-hei, a ti e á tua mãe que te pariu, a uma terra estranha, em que não nasceste, e ali morrereis.
27 And into the land whereunto they lift up their souls to return, thither shall they not return.
E á terra, para a qual elles levantam a sua alma, para tornarem a ella, a ella não tornarão.
28 Is this man Coniah a despised broken vase? a vessel wherein is no delight? Wherefore are they thrown out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not?
É pois porventura este homem Conias um vil idolo quebrantado? ou um vaso de que ninguem se agrada? por que razão foram arremessados fóra, elle e a sua geração, e arrojados para uma terra que não conhecem?
29 O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of Jehovah!
Ó terra, terra, terra! ouve a palavra do Senhor.
30 Thus saith Jehovah: Write this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days; for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.
Assim diz o Senhor: Escrevei que este homem está roubado de filhos, homem que não prosperará nos seus dias; porque não prosperará algum da sua geração, que se assentar no throno de David, e que reinar mais em Judah.
