Isaiah 58
1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and declare unto my people their transgression, and to the house of Jacob their sins.
Rufe laut, schone nicht! Erhebe deine Stimme wie eine Posaune und verkündige meinem Volk sein Übertreten und dem Hause Jakob seine Sünde!
2 Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that doeth righteousness, and hath not forsaken the ordinance of their God; they ask of me the ordinances of righteousness, they take delight in approaching to God:
Sie suchen mich zwar Tag für Tag und erheben den Anspruch, meine Wege zu kennen als ein Volk, das Gerechtigkeit geübt und das Recht seines Gottes nicht verlassen hätte; sie verlangen von mir wohlverdiente Rechte, begehren die Nähe Gottes:
3 — Wherefore have we fasted, and thou seest not; have afflicted our soul, and thou takest no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find what pleaseth [you], and exact all your labours.
«Warum fasten wir, und du siehst es nicht; warum demütigen wir unsere Seelen, und du beachtest es nicht?» Seht, an eurem Fastentag sucht ihr euer Vergnügen und drängt alle eure Arbeiter!
4 Behold, ye have fasted for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness; ye do not at present fast, to cause your voice to be heard on high.
Siehe, ihr fastet, um zu zanken und zu hadern und dreinzuschlagen mit gottloser Faust; ihr fastet gegenwärtig nicht so, daß euer Schreien in der Höhe Erhörung finden könnte.
5 Is such the fast that I have chosen, a day for a man to afflict his soul, — that he should bow down his head as a bulrush, and spread sackcloth and ashes [under him]? Wilt thou call this a fast, and a day acceptable to Jehovah?
Meinet ihr, daß mir ein solches Fasten gefalle, da der Mensch sich selbst einen Tag lang quält und seinen Kopf hängen läßt wie ein Schilf und sich in Sack und Asche bettet? Willst du das ein Fasten nennen und einen dem HERRN angenehmen Tag?
6 Is not this the fast which I have chosen: to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the thongs of the yoke, and to send forth free the crushed, and that ye break every yoke?
Ist nicht das ein Fasten, wie ich es liebe: daß ihr ungerechte Fesseln öffnet, daß ihr die Knoten des Joches löset, daß ihr die Bedrängten freilasset und jegliches Joch wegreißet,
7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring to thy house the needy wanderers; when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?
daß du dem Hungrigen dein Brot brichst und arme Verfolgte in dein Haus führst, daß, wenn du einen Nackten siehst, du ihn bekleidest und deinem Fleische dich nicht entziehst?
8 Then shall thy light break forth as the dawn, and thy health shall spring forth speedily; and thy righteousness shall go before thee, the glory of Jehovah shall be thy rearguard.
Alsdann wird dein Licht hervorbrechen wie die Morgenröte, und deine Heilung wird rasche Fortschritte machen; deine Gerechtigkeit wird vor dir hergehen, und die Herrlichkeit des HERRN wird deine Nachhut sein!
9 Then shalt thou call, and Jehovah will answer; thou shalt cry, and he will say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger and the unjust speech,
Dann wirst du rufen, und der HERR wird antworten; du wirst schreien, und er wird sagen: Hier bin ich! Wenn du das Joch aus deiner Mitte hinweg tust, das Fingerzeigen und das unheilvolle Reden lässest;
10 and thou proffer thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul: then shall thy light rise in the darkness, and thine obscurity be as midday;
wenn du dem Hungrigen dein Brot darreichst und die verschmachtende Seele sättigst; alsdann wird dein Licht in der Finsternis aufgehen, und dein Dunkel wird sein wie der Mittag!
11 and Jehovah will guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and strengthen thy bones; and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a water-spring, whose waters deceive not.
Der HERR wird dich ohne Unterlaß leiten und deine Seele in der Dürre sättigen und deine Gebeine stärken; du wirst sein wie ein wohlbewässerter Garten und wie eine Wasserquelle, deren Wasser niemals versiegen.
12 And they [that come] of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations [that have remained] from generation to generation; and thou shalt be called, Repairer of the breaches, restorer of frequented paths.
Und man wird auf deinen Antrieb die Trümmer der Vorzeit wieder bauen, du wirst die Gründungen früherer Geschlechter wieder aufrichten; und man wird dich nennen Breschenvermaurer, Wiederhersteller bewohnbarer Straßen.
13 If thou turn back thy foot from the sabbath, [from] doing thy pleasure on my holy day, and call the sabbath a delight, the holy [day] of Jehovah, honourable; and thou honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking [idle] words;
Wenn du am Sabbat deinen Fuß zurückhältst, daß du nicht tust, was dich gelüstet an meinem heiligen Tage; wenn du den Sabbat deine Lust nennst und den heiligen [Tag] des HERRN ehrenwert; wenn du ihn ehrst, also daß du nicht deine Wege gehst und nicht dein Vergnügen suchst, noch eitle Worte redest;
14 then shalt thou delight thyself in Jehovah, and I will cause thee to ride on the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of Jehovah hath spoken.
alsdann wirst du an dem HERRN deine Lust haben; und ich will dich über die Höhen des Landes führen und dich speisen mit dem Erbe deines Vaters Jakob! Ja, der Mund des HERRN hat es verheißen.
