Isaiah 57
1 The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart; and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from before the evil.
Voyez comme le Juste a péri, et nul ne le porte en son cœur; et des hommes justes sont retirés de la terre, et nul n'y fait attention. Car le Juste a été enlevé du milieu de l'iniquité.
2 He entereth into peace: they rest in their beds, [each one] that hath walked in his uprightness.
Son sépulcre sera en paix; il a été enlevé de la voie d'iniquité.
3 But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the harlot.
Et vous, venez ici, fils pervers, race d'adultères et de prostituées.
4 Against whom do ye sport yourselves? Against whom do ye make a wide mouth, [and] draw out the tongue? Are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood,
De qui vous êtes-vous joués? contre qui avez-vous ouvert la bouche? contre qui s'est exercée votre langue? N'êtes-vous pas des enfants de perdition, une race sans loi,
5 inflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clefts of the rocks?
Vous qui invoquez des idoles sous des arbres touffus, vous qui sacrifiez vos enfants dans des vallons au milieu des rochers?
6 Among the smooth [stones] of the torrent is thy portion; they, they are thy lot: even to them hast thou poured out a drink-offering, thou hast offered an oblation. Shall I be comforted myself as to these things?
C'est là ton partage, c'est là ton lot; tu as répandu des libations pour ces idoles, tu leur as offert des victimes: et je n'en serais pas irrité!
7 Upon a lofty and high mountain hast thou set thy bed: even thither didst thou go up to offer sacrifice.
Là est ton lit, sur une haute montagne, élevée dans les airs; là tu as transporté tes oblations.
8 Behind the doors also and the posts hast thou set up thy remembrance: for apart from me, thou hast uncovered thyself, and art gone up; thou hast enlarged thy bed, and hast made agreement with them; thou lovedst their bed, thou sawest their nakedness.
Et derrière les jambages de ta porte tu as placé ton mémorial; pensais-tu qu'à t'éloigner de moi tu aurais quelque profit? Tu as aimé ceux qui partageaient ta couche;
9 And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst multiply thy perfumes, and didst send thy messengers afar off, and didst debase thyself unto Sheol. (Sheol h7585)
Et tu as multiplié tes adultères avec eux, et tu en as gagné beaucoup qui étaient loin de toi, et tu as envoyé des messagers au delà de tes frontières, et tu as été abaissée jusqu'à l'enfer. (Sheol h7585)
10 Thou wast wearied by the multitude of thy ways; [but] thou saidst not, It is of no avail. Thou didst find a quickening of thy strength; therefore thou wast not sick [of it].
Tu t'es fatiguée en maints voyages, et tu n'as pas dit: Je cesserai de me fortifier dans le mal; ainsi as-tu fait; c'est pourquoi tu ne m'as plus prié.
11 And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor taken it to heart? Have not I even of long time held my peace, and thou fearest me not?
Qui as-tu craint, qui t'a retenue, quand tu m'as menti, quand tu m'as oublié, et que tu ne m'as plus donné place dans ta pensée ni dans ton cœur? Et moi, en te voyant, je te dédaigne à mon tour; et tu n'as pas eu peur de moi.
12 I will declare thy righteousness, and thy works; and they shall not profit thee.
Et moi, je publierai ta justice et tes péchés, qui ne te profiteront pas.
13 When thou criest, let them that are gathered by thee deliver thee! But a wind shall carry them all away, a breath shall take them; but he that putteth his trust in me shall inherit the land, and possess my holy mountain.
Et si tu jettes des cris, que tes complices te sauvent dans ton affliction; mais le vent les saisira tous, un tourbillon les emportera. Au contraire, ceux qui s'attachent à moi acquerront la terre, et ils auront ma montagne sainte pour héritage.
14 And it shall be said, Cast up, cast up, prepare the way, take up the stumbling-blocks out of the way of my people.
Et ils diront: Purifiez devant lui les voies; enlevez les pierres d'achoppement de la voie de mon peuple.
15 For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, and whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy [place], and with him that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
Voici ce que dit le Très-Haut, qui réside éternellement au plus haut des cieux, le Saint des saints; son nom est le Très-Haut, reposant parmi les saints; c'est lui qui donne aux faibles la patience, et aux cœurs contrits la vie:
16 For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth; for the spirit would fail before me, and the souls [which] I have made.
Je ne vous punirai pas éternellement; je ne serai pas toujours irrité contre vous; car tout esprit est sorti de moi, et c'est moi qui ai créé toute vie.
17 For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him; I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on backslidingly in the way of his heart.
A cause de son péché, j'ai affligé quelque temps mon peuple; je l'ai frappé et j'ai détourné de lui mon visage; et il en a éprouvé de la douleur, et triste il a marché dans ses voies.
18 I have seen his ways, and will heal him; and I will lead him, and will restore comforts unto him and to those of his that mourn.
J'ai vu ses voies, et je l'ai guéri, et je l'ai consolé, et je lui ai donné une consolation véritable.
19 I create the fruit of the lips: peace, peace to him [that is] afar off, and to him [that is] nigh, saith Jehovah; and I will heal him.
La paix, et encore la paix, à ceux qui sont au loin, et à ceux qui sont près. Et le Seigneur a dit: Je les guérirai.
20 But the wicked are like the troubled sea, which cannot rest, and whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
Quant aux méchants, ils seront agités comme les flots, et ils ne pourront se calmer.
21 There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.
Il n'y a point de joie pour les impies, dit le Seigneur.
