< Isaiah 51 >
1 Hearken unto me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek Jehovah: look unto the rock [whence] ye were hewn, and to the hole of the pit [whence] ye were digged.
“Fanongo kiate au, ʻakimoutolu ʻoku muimui ki he māʻoniʻoni, ʻakimoutolu ʻoku kumi kia Sihova: vakai ki he maka naʻe tā mei ai ʻakimoutolu, pea ki he ava ʻoe luo naʻe keli ʻakimoutolu mei ai.
2 Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bore you; for I called him when he was alone, and blessed him, and multiplied him.
Vakai kia ʻEpalahame ko hoʻomou tamai, pea kia Sela naʻa ne fua ʻakimoutolu: he naʻaku ui ia tokotaha pe, pea tāpuaki ia, pea u fakatokolahi ia.
3 For Jehovah shall comfort Zion, he shall comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of Jehovah: gladness and joy shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of song.
4 Listen unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will establish my judgment for a light of the peoples.
“Fanongo kiate au, ʻa hoku kakai, pea tokanga kiate au, ʻa hoku puleʻanga: koeʻuhi ʻe ʻalu atu ʻiate au ha fono, pea te u ngaohi ʻeku fakamaau ke nofo ko e maama ʻoe kakai.
5 My righteousness is near, my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the peoples: the isles shall wait for me, and in mine arm shall they trust.
ʻOku ofi ʻeku māʻoniʻoni; kuo ʻalu atu ʻeku fakamoʻui, pea ʻe fakamaau ʻe hoku nima ʻae kakai; ʻe tatali kiate au ʻae ngaahi motu, pea te nau falala ki hoku nima.
6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look on the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall grow old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner; but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.
Hiki hake homou mata ki he ngaahi langi, pea sio ki he māmani ʻi lalo: koeʻuhi ʻe mole fakafokifā ʻae ngaahi langi ʻo hangē ko e ʻohuafi, pea ʻe fakaʻau ʻo motuʻa ʻa māmani ʻo hangē ko e kofu, pea ʻe mate foki mo kinautolu ʻoku nofo ai: ka ʻoku tolonga taʻengata ʻa ʻeku fakamoʻui, pea ʻe ʻikai ngata ʻeku māʻoniʻoni.
7 Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear not the reproach of men, and be not afraid of their revilings.
“Fanongo kiate au, ʻakimoutolu ʻoku ʻilo ʻae māʻoniʻoni, ʻae kakai ʻoku ʻi honau loto ʻa ʻeku fono; ʻoua te mou manavahē ki he valoki ʻae kakai, pea ʻoua te mou ilifia ʻi heʻenau lauʻikovi.
8 For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool; but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation from generation to generation.
Koeʻuhi ʻe kai ʻo ʻosi ʻakinautolu ʻe he ane ʻo hangē ko e kofu, pea ʻe kai ʻakinautolu ʻe he ʻuanga ʻo hangē ko e fulufuluʻi sipi: ka ʻoku tolonga taʻengata ʻa ʻeku māʻoniʻoni, pea ko ʻeku fakamoʻui mei he toʻutangata ki he toʻutangata.”
9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of Jehovah; awake, as in the days of old, [as in] the generations of passed ages. Is it not thou that hath hewn Rahab in pieces, [and] pierced the monster?
Ke ke ʻā, ke ke ʻā, ʻai ʻae mālohi, ʻE nima ʻo Sihova; ke ke ʻā, ʻo hangē ko e ngaahi ʻaho ʻi muʻa, ʻi he ngaahi toʻutangata ʻi muʻa. ʻIkai ko koe ia naʻe tuʻusi ʻa Lehapi, pea naʻe taaʻi ʻae talākoni?
10 Is it not thou that dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep; that made the depths of the sea a way for the redeemed to pass over?
ʻIkai ko koe ia kuo ke fakamōmoa ʻae tahi, ʻae ngaahi vai ʻoe fuʻu moana; ʻa koe kuo ngaohi ʻae ngaahi loloto ʻoe tahi koe hala ke ʻalu ai ʻae kakai kuo huhuʻi?
11 So the ransomed of Jehovah shall return, and come to Zion with singing; and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads: they shall obtain gladness and joy; sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
Ko ia, ʻe toe foki mai ʻae kakai kuo huhuʻi ʻe Sihova, pea haʻu mo e hiva ki Saione; pea ʻe ʻi honau ʻulu ʻae fiefia ʻo taʻengata: te nau maʻu ʻae fiefia mo e nekeneka; pea ʻe puna atu ʻae mamahi mo e tangi.
12 I, [even] I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou fearest a man that shall die, and the son of man that shall become as grass;
“Ko au, ʻio, ko au ia, ʻoku fakafiemālieʻi koe: ko hai koe, ke ke manavahē ki ha tangata ʻaia ʻe mate, pea ki he foha ʻoe tangata ʻaia ʻe ngaohi ʻo hangē ko e mohuku;
13 and forgettest Jehovah thy Maker, who hath stretched out the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and thou art afraid continually all the day because of the fury of the oppressor, when he prepareth to destroy? And where is the fury of the oppressor?
Pea ʻoku ke fakangalongaloʻi ʻa Sihova ko ho tupuʻanga, ʻaia kuo ne fofola ʻae ngaahi langi, pea ai mo e ngaahi tuʻunga ʻo māmani; pea kuo ke manavahē maʻuaipē ʻi he ʻaho kotoa pē koeʻuhi ko e ʻita ʻo ia ʻoku fakamālohi, ʻo hangē ʻoku ne te u ke fakaʻauha? Pea kofaʻā ia ʻae lili ʻoe fakamālohi?
14 He that is bowed down shall speedily be loosed, and he shall not die in the pit, nor shall his bread fail.
ʻOku lele toʻotoʻo ʻae pōpula ke vete ia, pea ke ʻoua naʻa mate ia ʻi he luo, pea ke ʻoua naʻa ʻosi ʻene mā.
15 And I am Jehovah thy God, who raiseth the sea, so that its waves roar: Jehovah of hosts is his name.
Ka ko au ko Sihova ko ho ʻOtua, naʻaku vaeua ʻae tahi, ʻaia naʻe ʻuʻulu hono peau: ko hono huafa ko Sihova ʻoe ngaahi kautau.
16 And I have put my words in thy mouth, and covered thee with the shadow of my hand, to plant the heavens, and to lay the foundations of the earth, and to say unto Zion, Thou art my people.
Pea kuo u ʻai ʻeku ngaahi lea ki ho ngutu, pea kuo u fufū koe ʻaki ʻae malumalu ʻo hoku nima, koeʻuhi ke u tō ʻae ngaahi langi, pea ʻai mo e ngaahi tuʻunga ʻo māmani, pea pehē ki Saione, Ko koe ko hoku kakai.’”
17 Arouse thyself, arouse thyself, stand up, Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of Jehovah the cup of his fury. Thou hast drunk, hast drained out the goblet-cup of bewilderment:
Ke ke ʻā, ke ke ʻā, Tuʻu hake, ʻE Selūsalema, ʻa koe kuo inu ʻi he nima ʻo Sihova ʻae ipu ʻo hono houhau; kuo ke inu ʻae efe ʻoe ipu ʻoe tetetete, pea tatau ia.
18 — there is none to guide her among all the children that she hath brought forth; neither is there any to take her by the hand of all the children that she hath brought up.
ʻOku ʻikai ha taha ke fakahinohino ia ʻi he ngaahi foha kotoa pē kuo ne fanauʻi; pea ʻoku ʻikai ha niʻihi ʻoku puke ki hono nima ʻi he ngaahi foha kotoa pē kuo ne tauhi.
19 These two [things] are come unto thee; who will bemoan thee? — desolation and destruction, and famine and sword: how shall I comfort thee?
Kuo hoko ʻae meʻa ni ʻe ua kiate koe; ko hai ʻe mamahi koeʻuhi ko koe? Ko e maumau, mo fakaʻauha, mo e honge, mo e heletā: te u fakafiemālieʻi koe ʻia hai?
20 Thy children have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as an oryx in a net: they are full of the fury of Jehovah, the rebuke of thy God.
Kuo pongia hoʻo ngaahi foha, ʻoku nau tokoto ʻi he ʻulu ʻoe ngaahi hala kotoa pē, ʻo hangē ko e pulu tangata ʻoku hehengi ʻi he kupenga: ʻoku nau fonu ʻi he houhau ʻo Sihova, mo e valoki mei ho ʻOtua.
21 Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine:
Ko ia fanongo ki he meʻa ni, ʻa koe ko e mahaki, mo e konā, kae ʻikai ʻi he uaine:
22 thus saith thy Lord, Jehovah, and thy God, who pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I take out of thy hand the cup of bewilderment, the goblet-cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again:
ʻOku pehē ho ʻEiki ko Sihova, pea ko ho ʻOtua ʻoku langomakiʻi ʻa hono kakai, “Vakai, kuo u toʻo mei ho nima ʻae ipu ʻoe tetetete, ʻio, ʻae efe ʻoe ipu ʻo hoku houhau; ʻe ʻikai te ke toe inu ia;
23 and I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; who have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over; and thou hast laid thy body as the ground, and as the street to them that went over.
Ka te u ʻai ia ki he nima ʻonautolu ʻoku fakamamahiʻi koe; ʻakinautolu kuo pehē ki ho laumālie, ‘Punou hifo, ka mau laka atu:’ pea kuo ke fakatokoto ho sino ʻo hangē ko e kelekele, pea hangē ko e hala, kiate kinautolu naʻe ʻalu ai.”
