Isaiah 34
1 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye peoples: let the earth hear, and all its fulness; the world, and all that cometh forth of it.
Approchez, nations; princes, écoutez; que la terre soit attentive, et ceux qui l'habitent.
2 For the wrath of Jehovah is against all the nations, and [his] fury against all their armies: he hath devoted them to destruction, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.
Parce que la colère du Seigneur éclate contre toutes les nations, son courroux menace leur multitude; il les perdra et les livrera au meurtre.
3 And their slain shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up from their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
Leurs blessés tomberont avec leurs morts; et l'odeur s'en répandra dans l'air, et les montagnes seront humectées de leur sang.
4 And all the host of the heavens shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll; and all their host shall fade away, as a leaf fadeth from off the vine, and as the withered [fruit] from the fig-tree.
Et toute la milice des cieux dépérira, et le ciel sera roulé comme un livre, et toutes les étoiles tomberont comme des feuilles de vigne, comme les feuilles d'un figuier.
5 For my sword is bathed in the heavens; behold, it shall come down upon Edom, and upon the people of my ban, to judgment.
Mon glaive s'est enivré dans les cieux; voilà qu'il va fondre sur l'Idumée, et sur un peuple justement condamné à périr.
6 The sword of Jehovah is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams; for Jehovah hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
Le glaive du Seigneur s'est rempli de sang; il s'est alourdi de graisse, du sang des boucs et du sang des agneaux, de la graisse des boucs et de la graisse des béliers; car le sacrifice du Seigneur est en Bosor, et une grande immolation de victimes en Idumée;
7 And the buffaloes shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.
Et avec elle les forts tomberont, et les béliers et les taureaux; la terre s'enivrera de leur sang et se rassasiera de leur graisse;
8 For it is the day of Jehovah's vengeance, the year of recompenses for the controversy of Zion.
Car c'est le jour du jugement du Seigneur; c'est l'année de la juste vengeance de Sion.
9 And the torrents thereof shall be turned into pitch, and its dust into brimstone; yea, the land thereof shall become burning pitch:
Et leurs torrents seront changés en poix, et leur terre en soufre; et leurs champs seront comme de la poix qui brûle
10 it shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever: from generation to generation it shall lie waste; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.
Nuit et jour, et ne s'éteindra jamais dans la suite des siècles; et la fumée s'en élèvera en l'air; et le pays sera pour longtemps désolé dans ses générations.
11 And the pelican and the bittern shall possess it, and the great owl and the raven shall dwell in it. And he shall stretch out upon it the line of waste, and the plummets of emptiness.
Les oiseaux, les hérissons, les ibis, les corbeaux en feront leur séjour; le cordeau de la destruction les nivellera, et les onocentaures y résideront.
12 Of her nobles who should proclaim the kingdom, none are there; and all her princes shall be nought.
Il n'y aura plus de princes; car ses rois et ses grands ont péri.
13 And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in her fortresses; and it shall be a dwelling-place of wild dogs, a court for ostriches.
Et des arbres épineux croîtront dans ses villes et dans ses forteresses; elles seront l'asile des sirènes et l'abri des passereaux.
14 And there shall the beasts of the desert meet with the jackals, and the wild goat shall cry to his fellow; the lilith also shall settle there, and find for herself a place of rest.
Et les démons s'y rencontreront avec les onocentaures, et ils se crieront l'un à l'autre. C'est là que demeureront les onocentaures; car ils y trouveront un lieu de repos.
15 There shall the arrow-snake make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow; there also shall the vultures be gathered one with another.
C'est là que le hérisson a fait son nid, et que la terre y a caché en sûreté ses petits. C'est là que les cerfs se sont rencontrés, et qu'ils se sont vus face à face.
16 Search ye in the book of Jehovah and read: not one of these shall fail, one shall not have to seek for the other; for my mouth, it hath commanded, and his Spirit, it hath gathered them.
Ils y sont venus très nombreux, et pas un n'a péri; ils ne se cherchaient pas l'un l'autre; mais le Seigneur les a conduits, et son souffle les a rassemblés.
17 For he himself hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them with the line: they shall possess it for ever; from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.
Et il les a tirés au sort, et sa main leur a distribué des pâturages, disant: Que ce soit à jamais votre héritage; et de génération en génération ils demeureront en cette terre.
