Isaiah 20

1 In the year that Tartan came to Ashdod, when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him, (and he fought against Ashdod and took it, )

En el año en que el comandante llegó a Asdod, enviado por Sargón, rey de Asiria, hizo una guerra contra ella y la tomó;

2 at that time spoke Jehovah by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy sandal from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.

En aquel momento vino la palabra del Señor a Isaías, hijo de Amoz, que decía: Ve, y quítate la túnica y los zapatos de tus pies. Y así lo hizo, andando sin ropa y sin zapatos en los pies.

3 And Jehovah said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years, a sign and a wonder concerning Egypt and concerning Ethiopia,

Y el Señor dijo: Como mi siervo Isaías estuvo sin ropa y sin zapatos durante tres años como una señal y una maravilla para Egipto y Etiopía.

4 so shall the king of Assyria lead away the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Ethiopia, young and old, naked and barefoot, and with buttocks uncovered, [to] the shame of Egypt.

Así se llevará el rey de Asiria a los prisioneros de Egipto y a los expulsados de Etiopía, jóvenes y viejos, sin ropa y sin zapatos, y con la espalda descubierta, para vergüenza de Egipto.

5 And they shall be terrified and ashamed of Ethiopia their confidence, and of Egypt their boast.

Y estarán llenos de temor, y ya no tendrán fe en Etiopía, que era su esperanza, o en Egipto, que era su gloria.

6 And the inhabitants of this coast shall say in that day, Behold, such is our confidence, whither we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria; and how shall we escape?

Y los que viven junto al mar dirán en ese día: Mira el destino de nuestra esperanza, a quien acudimos en busca de ayuda y salvación del rey de Asiria: ¿qué esperanza tenemos entonces de la salvación?
