Isaiah 1
1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amos, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, Hezekiah, kings of Judah.
Die Offenbarungen, die Jesaja, der Sohn des Amoz, zur Zeit der judäischen Könige Usia, Jotham, Ahas und Hiskia über Juda und Jerusalem empfing.
2 Hear, [ye] heavens, and give ear, [thou] earth! for Jehovah hath spoken: I have nourished and brought up children; and they have rebelled against me.
Höre, o Himmel, und horch auf, o Erde! denn Jahwe hat geredet: Kinder habe ich groß gezogen und emporgebracht; sie aber haben sich gegen mich empört.
3 The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib; Israel doth not know, my people hath no intelligence.
Der Stier kennt seinen Besitzer und der Esel die Krippe seines Herrn - Israel erkennt nicht, mein Volk merkt nicht auf!
4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that corrupt themselves! They have forsaken Jehovah; they have despised the Holy One of Israel; they are turned away backward.
O der sündigen Nation, des schuldbeladenen Volks, der Brut von Bösewichtern, der frevelnden Kinder! Jahwe haben sie verlassen, haben den Heiligen Israels gelästert, haben den Rücken gewandt.
5 Why should ye be smitten any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
Wohin könntet ihr noch geschlagen werden, da ihr ja den Abfall fortsetzt? Ist doch das ganze Haupt krank und das ganze Herz todesschwach!
6 From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in him; wounds, and weals, and open sores: they have not been dressed, nor bound up, nor mollified with oil.
Ist doch von der Fußsohle bis zum Haupte nichts Heiles daran: Stiche und Striemen und frische Wunden, die nicht ausgedrückt, noch verbunden, noch mit Öl erweicht sind!
7 Your country is desolate; your cities are burned with fire; your land, strangers eat it up in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
Ist doch euer Land eine Wüste, eure Städte mit Feuer verbrannt. Eure Äcker - Fremde verzehren sie vor euren Augen - und eine Wüstenei ist's, wie bei der Zerstörung von Sodom!
8 And the daughter of Zion is left, as a booth in a vineyard, as a night-lodge in a cucumber-garden, as a besieged city.
Und ist doch Zion nur übrig, wie eine Hütte im Weinberge, wie eine Nachthütte im Gurkenfelde, wie eine belagerte Stadt!
9 Unless Jehovah of hosts had left us a very small residue, we should have been as Sodom, we should have been like unto Gomorrah.
Hätte nicht Jahwe der Heerscharen übrig gelassen uns einen Rest, gar leicht wären wir wie Sodom geworden, Gomorrha würden wir gleichen!
10 Hear the word of Jehovah, rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, people of Gomorrah!
Hört das Wort Jahwes, ihr Sodomsgebieter! Vernimm die Lehre unseres Gottes, du Gomorrhavolk!
11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith Jehovah. I am sated with burnt-offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and in the blood of bullocks, and of lambs, and of he-goats I take no pleasure.
Was soll ich mit der Menge eurer Schlachtopfer? spricht Jahwe. Ich bin satt der Widderbrandopfer und des Fettes der Mastkälber und an dem Blute von Farren, Lämmern und Böcken habe ich kein Gefallen.
12 When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this from your hand — to tread my courts?
Wenn ihr hereinkommt, um vor mir zu erscheinen - wer hat das von euch verlangt, meine Vorhöfe zu zerstampfen?
13 Bring no more vain oblations! Incense is an abomination unto me, — new moon and sabbath, the calling of convocations — wickedness and the solemn meeting I cannot bear.
Bringt nicht mehr unnütze Gaben dar - ein greulicher Brand sind sie mir! Neumonde und Sabbate, Versammlungen berufen - ich halte es nicht aus: Unrecht und zugleich Festfeier!
14 Your new moons and your set feasts my soul hateth: they are a burden to me; I am wearied of bearing [them].
Eure Neumonde und Feste mag ich nicht; sie sind mir zu Last geworden, ich bin's müde zu tragen.
15 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
Und wenn ihr eure Hände ausbreitet, so verhülle ich meine Augen vor euch, und wenn ihr noch so viel betet, so höre ich euch nicht. Eure Hände sind voll Blutschuld!
16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; — cease to do evil,
Waschet, reiniget euch! Schafft mir eure bösen Thaten aus den Augen! Hört auf, Böses zu thun!
17 learn to do well: seek judgment, gladden the oppressed, do justice to the fatherless, plead for the widow.
Lernt Gutes thun! Trachtet nach Recht! Bringt die Gewaltthätigen zurecht! Verschafft den Waisen ihr Recht! Führt die Sache der Witwen!
18 Come now, let us reason together, saith Jehovah: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
Kommt doch, daß wir miteinander rechten! spricht Jahwe. Wenn eure Sünden scharlachrot sind, sollen sie doch schneeweiß werden; wenn sie rot wie Purpur sind, sollen sie doch wie Wolle werden.
19 If ye be willing and hearken, ye shall eat the good of the land;
Wenn ihr willig seid und gehorcht, sollt ihr die Güter des Landes verzehren.
20 but if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of Jehovah hath spoken.
Aber wenn ihr euch weigert und widerspenstig seid, so sollt ihr vom Schwerte verzehrt werden! Fürwahr, Jahwes Mund hat es geredet!
21 How is the faithful city become a harlot! It was full of judgment; righteousness used to lodge in it, but now murderers.
Ach wie ist zur Hure geworden die treue Stadt, die von Recht erfüllt, eine Herberge der Gerechtigkeit war und nun - voll Mörder!
22 Thy silver is become dross, thy wine is mixed with water:
Dein Silber ist zu Blei geworden, dein edler Wein mit Wasser verschnitten.
23 thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves; every one loveth presents, and hunteth after rewards; they judge not the fatherless, and the cause of the widow cometh not unto them.
Deine Beamten sind Abtrünnige und Diebsgenossen. Sie alle nehmen gern Geschenke und laufen der Bezahlung nach; den Waisen verschaffen sie nicht Recht, und die Sache der Witwen kommt nicht vor sie.
24 Therefore saith the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel: Ah! I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies.
Deshalb lautet der Spruch des Herrn, Jahwes der Heerscharen, des Starken Israels: Ha! ich will mich letzen an meinen Widersachern und mich rächen an meinen Feinden!
25 And I will turn my hand upon thee, and will thoroughly purge away thy dross, and take away all thine alloy;
Ich will meine Hand wieder gegen dich kehren und will wie mit Lauge all' dein unedles Metall ausschmelzen und all' dein Blei ausscheiden
26 and I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning. Afterwards thou shalt be called, Town of righteousness, Faithful city.
und will die Richter in dir wieder machen wie dereinst und die Ratsherren wie zu Anfang. Darnach wirst du die Rechtsburg heißen, eine treue Stadt.
27 Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and they that return of her with righteousness.
Zion soll durch Recht erlöst werden und, die sich in ihm bekehren, durch Gerechtigkeit;
28 But the ruin of the transgressors and of the sinners [shall be] together; and they that forsake Jehovah shall be consumed.
aber Zerschmetterung über die Empörer und die Sünder insgesamt! Die Jahwe verlassen, sollen zu Grunde gehen!
29 For they shall be ashamed of the terebinths that ye have desired, and ye shall blush for the gardens that ye have chosen.
Denn ihr Vertrauen auf die Terebinthen, an denen ihr eure Lust hattet, soll zu Schanden werden, und ob der Gärten, an denen ihr Gefallen hattet, sollt ihr erröten.
30 For ye shall be as a terebinth whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.
Denn ihr sollt werden wie eine Terebinthe, deren Laub verwelkt, und wie ein Garten, dem es an Wasser fehlt,
31 And the strong shall be for tow, and his work a spark; and they shall both burn together, and there shall be none to quench [them].
und die Mächtigen sollen zu Werg werden und ihr Werk zu Funken, und beide zusammen sollen verbrennen, ohne daß jemand löscht.
