Hosea 9
1 Rejoice not, Israel, exultingly, as the peoples; for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved harlot's hire upon every corn-floor.
Der Freude überlaß dich nimmer, Israel, und juble nicht wie andere Völker! Du hast ja buhlend deinen Gott verlassen und dich am Buhlerlohn erfreut auf allen korngefüllten Tennen.
2 The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail her.
"Die Tenne und die Kelter nähren sie nicht mehr. Der neue Wein läßt sie im Stich."
3 They shall not dwell in Jehovah's land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and in Assyria shall they eat that which is unclean.
Sie bleiben nimmermehr im Land des Herrn. Denn Ephraim muß nach Ägypterland zurück; Unreines müssen sie in Assur essen.
4 They shall pour out no [offerings of] wine to Jehovah, neither shall their sacrifices be pleasing unto him: they shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be defiled: for their bread shall be for themselves; it shall not come into the house of Jehovah.
Sie spenden nicht mehr Wein dem Herrn und bringen ihre Opfer ihm nicht mehr. "Sie haben dann nur, was den Trauerspeisen ähnlich. Wer es genießt, wird dadurch unrein." Ihr Brot dient nur zur Stillung ihres Hungers; nicht kommt es mehr ins Haus des Herrn.
5 What will ye do in the day of assembly, and in the day of the feast of Jehovah?
Was wollt ihr am Versammlungstage tun? Und was am Tag des Herrenfestes?
6 For behold, they are gone away because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up, Moph shall bury them: their pleasant things of silver, nettles shall possess them; thorns shall be in their tents.
Die der Verheerung schon entkommen sind, die hält Ägypten fest, und Memphis wird ihr Grab. Ihr glänzend Schatzhaus wird der Nesseln Erbbesitz, und Disteln sind in ihren Zelten.
7 The days of visitation are come; the days of recompence are come: Israel shall know [it]: the prophet is a fool, the inspired man is mad, because of the greatness of thine iniquity, and the great enmity.
"Der Strafe Tage sind gekommen, die Tage der Vergeltung angebrochen; sie klagen Israel ob seines Spruches an: 'Ein Tor ist der Prophet; der Geistesmann ist aberwitzig', ob der Größe dieser deiner Sünde, ja, groß war deine Anfeindung."
8 Is Ephraim a watchman with my God? [nay] the prophet is a fowler's snare on all his ways, enmity in the house of his God.
Der Seher ist der Wächter Ephraims, des Volkes meines Gottes. Auf allen seinen Wegen liegt jetzt eine Vogelstellerschlinge; Anfeindung gibt's sogar im Hause seines Gottes.
9 They have deeply corrupted themselves as in the days of Gibeah. He will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.
So tief sind sie gesunken wie in den Tagen Gibeas. Drum muß er ihrer Schuld gedenken und ihre Sünde ahnden.
10 I found Israel as grapes in the wilderness; as first-ripe fruit on the fig-tree, I saw your fathers at the beginning: they went to Baal-Peor, and separated themselves unto that shame, and became abominations like their lover.
"Wie wilde Trauben in der Wüste fand ich Israel. Wie frühe Feigen an dem Feigenbaum, so sah ich eure Väter an ihrem ersten Anfange. Sie aber gingen zu dem Peorsbaal und weihten sich der Schande; das waren Götzen, wie sie sie liebten.
11 As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away as a bird, — no birth, no pregnancy, no conception!
Die Menge Ephraims verfliegt nach der Geburt wie Vögel, ja in der Schwangerschaft und schon bei der Empfängnis.
12 For even should they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, [that] not a man [remain]: for woe also to them when I shall have departed from them!
Und zögen sie auch ihre Söhne auf, so mache ich sie kinderlos; denn: 'Jammer über sie, wenn ich von ihnen weiche!'
13 Ephraim, as I saw [him], was a Tyre planted in a beautiful place; but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the slayer.
O Ephraim! Wie sah ich im Gefilde jenen rohen Felsen, wo sich Ephraim bereit gehalten hat, dem Henker seine Kinder zuzuführen!"
14 Give them, Jehovah — what wilt thou give? — give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.
"Gib ihnen, Herr! Was sollst Du geben? Gib ihnen unfruchtbaren Mutterschoß und welke Brust!" -
15 All their wickedness is in Gilgal; for there I hated them: because of the wickedness of their doings, I will drive them out of my house, I will love them no more: all their princes are rebellious.
"All ihre Schlechtigkeit geschah zu Gilgal; deshalb verstoß ich sie aus meinem Hause ob der Verruchtheit ihrer Werke. Ich kann sie nicht mehr lieben. Abtrünnige sind alle ihre Fürsten.
16 Ephraim is smitten: their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit; yea, though they should bring forth, yet will I slay the beloved [fruit] of their womb.
Geschlagen wird jetzt Ephraim. Verdorrt ist seine Wurzel. Sie sollen keine Frucht mehr bringen! Und sollten dennoch sie gebären, so geb ich doch die Leibesfrucht, die sie ersehnen, dem Tode preis."
17 My God hath rejected them, because they hearkened not unto him; and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
Mein Gott verwirft sie ganz und gar, weil sie ihm nicht gehorchen. Drum sind sie flüchtig bei den Heiden.
