Hosea 5
1 Hear this, ye priests; and hearken, ye house of Israel; and give ear, O house of the king: for this judgment is for you; for ye have been a snare at Mizpah, and a net spread upon Tabor.
« Écoutez ceci, vous, les prêtres! Écoutez, maison d'Israël, et écoutez, maison du roi! Car le jugement est contre vous; car tu as été un piège à Mitspa, et un écart net sur Tabor.
2 And they have plunged themselves in the corruption of apostasy, but I will be a chastiser of them all.
Les rebelles sont en plein massacre, mais je les discipline tous.
3 I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me; for now, Ephraim, thou hast committed whoredom; Israel is defiled.
Je connais Ephraïm, et Israël ne m'est pas caché; pour l'instant, Ephraim, tu as joué la prostituée. Israël est souillé.
4 Their doings do not allow them to return unto their God; for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they know not Jehovah.
Leurs actes ne leur permettent pas de se tourner vers leur Dieu, car l'esprit de prostitution est en eux, et ils ne connaissent pas Yahvé.
5 And Israel's pride doth testify to his face; and Israel and Ephraim shall fall by their iniquity: Judah also shall fall with them.
L'orgueil d'Israël témoigne de sa face. C'est pourquoi Israël et Ephraïm trébucheront dans leur iniquité. Juda aussi trébuchera avec eux.
6 They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek Jehovah; but they shall not find [him]: he hath withdrawn himself from them.
Ils iront avec leurs troupeaux et leurs bêtes pour chercher Yahvé, mais ils ne le trouveront pas. Il s'est retiré d'eux.
7 They have dealt treacherously against Jehovah; for they have begotten strange children: now shall the new moon devour them, with their allotted possessions.
Ils sont infidèles à Yahvé; car elles ont porté des enfants illégitimes. Maintenant, la nouvelle lune va les dévorer avec leurs champs.
8 Blow the horn in Gibeah, the trumpet in Ramah; cry aloud [at] Beth-aven: behind thee, O Benjamin!
« Sonnez de la trompette à Gibéa, et la trompette à Rama! Sonnez un cri de guerre à Beth Aven, derrière vous, Benjamin!
9 Ephraim shall be a desolation in the day of rebuke: among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which is sure.
Ephraïm deviendra une désolation au jour du châtiment. Parmi les tribus d'Israël, j'ai fait connaître ce qui sera sûrement.
10 The princes of Judah are become like them that remove the landmark: I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.
Les princes de Juda sont comme ceux qui enlèvent un repère. Je déverserai ma colère sur eux comme de l'eau.
11 Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment, because in selfwill he walked after the commandment [of man].
Ephraïm est opprimé, il est écrasé par le jugement, parce qu'il est déterminé dans sa poursuite des idoles.
12 And I will be unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house of Judah as rottenness.
C'est pourquoi je suis pour Éphraïm comme un papillon de nuit, et à la maison de Juda comme une pourriture.
13 When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his sore, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb; but he was unable to heal you, nor hath he removed your sore.
« Quand Ephraïm vit sa maladie, et Juda sa blessure, puis Ephraïm est allé en Assyrie, et envoyé au roi Jareb: mais il n'est pas capable de vous guérir, il ne vous guérira pas non plus de votre blessure.
14 For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah. I, I will tear and go away; I will carry off, and there shall be none to deliver.
Car je serai pour Ephraïm comme un lion, et comme un jeune lion à la maison de Juda. Je vais moi-même me déchirer en morceaux et m'en aller. J'emporterai, et il n'y aura personne pour délivrer.
15 I will go away, I will return to my place, till they acknowledge their trespass, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.
Je vais m'en aller et retourner à ma place, jusqu'à ce qu'ils reconnaissent leur offense, et cherchez ma face. Dans leur détresse, ils me chercheront avec ardeur. »
