Hosea 12
1 Ephraim feedeth on wind, and pursueth after the east wind: all day long he multiplieth lies and desolation; and they make a covenant with Assyria, and oil is carried into Egypt.
Ephraïm se repaît de vent, et il court après le vent d'orient. Tout le jour il accumule le mensonge et la violence; ils concluent alliance avec Assur, et l'huile est transportée en Egypte.
2 Jehovah hath also a controversy with Judah, and he will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him.
Yahweh a aussi procès avec Juda; il va châtier Jacob selon ses voies, il lui rendra selon ses œuvres.
3 He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and in his strength he wrestled with God.
Dans le sein de sa mère, Jacob supplanta son frère, et dans sa vigueur il lutta avec Dieu.
4 Yea, he wrestled with the Angel, and prevailed; he wept, and made supplication unto him: he found him in Bethel, and there he spoke with us,
Il lutta avec l'ange et il eut le dessus; il pleura et lui demanda grâce; il le trouva ensuite à Béthel, et là Dieu a parlé avec nous.
5 — even Jehovah, the God of hosts, — Jehovah is his memorial.
Or Yahweh est le Dieu des armées, son nom est Yahweh.
6 And thou, return unto thy God: keep loving-kindness and judgment, and wait on thy God continually.
Et toi, tu reviendras à ton Dieu; garde la bonté et la justice, et espère en ton Dieu toujours.
7 [He is] a merchant, balances of deceit are in his hand; he loveth to oppress.
Chanaan tient dans sa main une balance fausse, il aime à extorquer.
8 And Ephraim saith, Nevertheless I am become rich, I have found me out substance; in all my labours they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin.
Ephraïm dit: " Pourtant je me suis enrichi, je me suis fait une fortune; dans tous mes gains, on ne trouvera pas pour moi un tort qui soit un péché. "
9 But I [that am] Jehovah thy God from the land of Egypt will again make thee to dwell in tents, as in the days of the solemn feast.
Et moi je suis Yahweh, ton Dieu, depuis le pays d'Egypte; je te ferai encore habiter dans les tentes, comme aux jours de fête.
10 And I have spoken to the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and by means of the prophets have I used similitudes.
Et j'ai parlé aux prophètes, et moi, j'ai multiplié la vision; et, par l'intermédiaire des prophètes, j'ai parlé en paraboles.
11 If Gilead is iniquity, surely they are but vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal; yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.
Si Galaad est vanité, ils ne seront que néant; à Galgal, ils ont sacrifié des taureaux; aussi leurs autels seront comme des monceaux de pierres, sur les sillons des champs.
12 And Jacob fled into the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept [sheep].
Jacob s'enfuit dans la plaine d'Aram; Israël servit pour une femme, et pour une femme il garda les troupeaux.
13 And by a prophet Jehovah brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet was he preserved.
Et par un prophète, Yahweh fit monter Israël hors d'Egypte, et par un prophète il fut gardé.
14 Ephraim provoked [him] to anger most bitterly; and his Lord shall leave his blood upon him, and recompense unto him his reproach.
Ephraïm a provoqué amèrement la colère divine; Il laissera tomber son sang sur lui, et son Seigneur lui rendra son outrage.
