Hebrews 3
1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of [the] heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Jesus,
Então, meus irmãos e minhas irmãs, que vivem para Deus e que participam deste chamado celestial, precisamos pensar cuidadosamente sobre Jesus, aquele que dizemos que foi enviado por Deus e que é considerado o Grande Sacerdote.
2 who is faithful to him that has constituted him, as Moses also in all his house.
Ele foi fiel a Deus no trabalho para o qual foi escolhido, assim como Moisés foi fiel a Deus na casa de Deus.
3 For he has been counted worthy of greater glory than Moses, by how much he that has built it has more honour than the house.
Mas Jesus merece uma glória muito maior do que a de Moisés, da mesma forma que um construtor de uma casa merece mais crédito do que a casa.
4 For every house is built by some one; but he who has built all things [is] God.
Cada casa tem o seu construtor, mas Deus é o construtor de tudo.
5 And Moses indeed [was] faithful in all his house, as a ministering servant, for a testimony of the things to be spoken after;
E Moisés foi um servo fiel na casa de Deus. Ele falou a respeito do que seria anunciado tempos depois.
6 but Christ, as Son over his house, whose house are we, if indeed we hold fast the boldness and the boast of hope firm to the end.
Mas Cristo é um filho que é o responsável pela casa de Deus. E nós somos a casa de Deus, desde que conservemos a confiança e a esperança naquilo que esperamos.
7 Wherefore, even as says the Holy Spirit, To-day if ye will hear his voice,
É por isso que o Espírito Santo diz: “Hoje, se vocês ouvirem o que Deus está dizendo,
8 harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness;
não tenham uma atitude teimosa, como os seus antepassados tiveram, ao se revoltarem contra Ele, quando o colocaram à prova no deserto.
9 where your fathers tempted [me], by proving [me], and saw my works forty years.
Os seus antepassados me fizeram passar por isso. Testaram a minha paciência, mesmo tendo sido testemunhas do que eu fiz durante quarenta anos.
10 Wherefore I was wroth with this generation, and said, They always err in heart; and they have not known my ways;
Aquela geração me irritou e, então, eu disse: ‘Os pensamentos deles são puro engano, e eles não me conhecem e nem sabem o que eu estou fazendo.’
11 so I swore in my wrath, If they shall enter into my rest.
Então, por causa da minha decepção, eu jurei: ‘Eles não entrarão no meu descanso.’”
12 See, brethren, lest there be in any one of you a wicked heart of unbelief, in turning away from [the] living God.
Irmãos e irmãs, façam tudo para que não tenham pensamentos ruins, que os afastem da fé no Deus vivo.
13 But encourage yourselves each day, as long as it is called To-day, that none of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
Animem uns aos outros todos os dias, enquanto vocês ainda têm um “hoje.” Assim, nenhum de vocês será endurecido pelo engano do pecado.
14 For we are become companions of the Christ if indeed we hold the beginning of the assurance firm to the end;
Pois somos aliados de Cristo, desde que a nossa fé em Deus continue inabalável desde o começo até o fim.
15 in that it is said, To-day if ye will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation;
Como é dito nas Sagradas Escrituras: “Hoje, se vocês ouvirem o que Deus está dizendo, não tenham uma atitude teimosa como os seus antepassados tiveram, ao se revoltarem contra Ele.”
16 (for who was it, who, having heard, provoked? but [was it] not all who came out of Egypt by Moses?
Quem foi que se revoltou contra Deus, mesmo ao ouvir o que ele disse? Por acaso, não foram todos aqueles que sairam do Egito, por intermédio de Moisés?
17 And with whom was he wroth forty years? [Was it] not with those who had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
Com quem Deus ficou aborrecido por quarenta anos? Não foi com aqueles que pecaram, aqueles mesmos que foram sepultados no deserto?
18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to those who had not hearkened to the word?
A quem Deus se referia ao jurar que eles não entrariam em seu descanso? Não foi, por acaso, uma referência àqueles que foram desobedientes?
19 And we see that they could not enter in on account of unbelief; )
Então, está claro para nós que eles não foram capazes de entrar na terra prometida porque não confiaram em Deus.
