Genesis 38
1 And it came to pass at that time, that Judah went down from his brethren, and turned in to a man of Adullam whose name was Hirah.
Pripetilo se je ob tistem času, da je Juda šel dol od svojih bratov in vstopil k nekemu Adulámcu, katerega ime je bilo Hirá.
2 And Judah saw there the daughter of a Canaanitish man whose name was Shua; and he took her, and went in to her.
Juda je tam videl hčer nekega Kánaanca, katerega ime je bilo Šua in vzel jo je ter šel noter k njej.
3 And she conceived and bore a son; and he called his name Er.
Ta je spočela in rodila sina in njegovo ime je imenoval Er.
4 And she again conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Onan.
Ponovno je spočela ter rodila sina in njegovo ime je imenovala Onán.
5 And again she bore a son, and she called his name Shelah; and he was at Chezib when she bore him.
Spet je spočela in rodila sina in njegovo ime je imenovala Šelá. Bil je pri Kezíbu, ko ga je rodila.
6 And Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.
Juda je vzel ženo za svojega prvorojenca Era, ki ji je bilo ime Tamara.
7 And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of Jehovah, and Jehovah slew him.
Judov prvorojenec Er pa je bil zloben v Gospodovih očeh in Gospod ga je usmrtil.
8 Then Judah said to Onan, Go in to thy brother's wife, and fulfil to her the brother-in-law's duty, and raise up seed to thy brother.
Juda je rekel Onánu: »Pojdi noter k ženi svojega brata in jo poroči ter svojemu bratu obudi potomca.«
9 But when Onan knew that the seed should not be his own, it came to pass when he went in to his brother's wife, that he spilled [it] on the ground, in order to give no seed to his brother.
Onán pa je vedel, da potomec ne bo njegov in pripetilo se je, ko je šel noter k ženi svojega brata, da je to izlil na tla, da svojemu bratu ne bi dal potomca.
10 And the thing which he did was evil in the sight of Jehovah, and he slew him also.
Stvar, ki jo je storil, je razžalila Gospoda, zaradi česar je tudi njega usmrtil.
11 And Judah said to Tamar his daughter-in-law, Remain a widow in thy father's house, until Shelah my son is grown; for he said, Lest he die also, as his brethren. And Tamar went and remained in her father's house.
Potem je Juda rekel svoji snahi Tamari: »Ostani vdova, v hiši svojega očeta, dokler moj sin Šelá ne odraste, « kajti rekel je: »Da ne bi morda tudi on umrl, kakor sta njegova brata.« Tamara je odšla in prebivala v hiši svojega očeta.
12 And as the days were multiplied, Judah's wife, the daughter of Shua, died. And Judah was comforted, and he went up to his sheep-shearers, to Timnah, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite.
Tekom časa je Šuova hči, Judova žena, umrla in Juda je bil potolažen in se dvignil k svojim strižcem ovc v Timno, on in njegov prijatelj Adulámec Hirá.
13 And it was told Tamar, saying, Behold thy father-in-law is going up to Timnah to shear his sheep.
To je bilo povedano Tamari, rekoč: »Glej, tvoj tast gre v Timno, da ostriže svoje ovce.«
14 And she put the garments of her widowhood off from her, and covered herself with a veil, and wrapped herself, and sat in the entry of Enaim, which is on the way to Timnah; for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she was not given to him as wife.
Iz sebe je odložila svoje vdovske obleke, se pokrila z zagrinjalom, se ogrnila in sedla na odprt kraj, ki je na poti v Timno, kajti videla je, da je Šelá odrastel, pa mu ni bila dana za ženo.
15 And Judah saw her, and took her for a harlot; because she had covered her face.
Ko jo je Juda zagledal, je mislil, da je pocestnica, ker je imela svoj obraz zakrit.
16 And he turned aside to her by the way, and said, Come, I pray thee, let me go in to thee; for he did not know that she was his daughter-in-law. And she said, What wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in to me?
Na poti se je obrnil k njej in rekel: »Daj, prosim te, naj pridem noter vate, « (kajti ni vedel, da je bila njegova snaha.) Ona pa je rekla: »Kaj mi hočeš dati, da lahko prideš vame?«
17 And he said, I will send [thee] a kid of the goats from the flock. And she said, Wilt thou give [me] a pledge, until thou send it?
Rekel je: »Poslal ti bom kozlička od tropa.« Rekla je: »Ali mi boš dal jamstvo, dokler ga ne pošlješ?«
18 And he said, What pledge shall I give thee? And she said, Thy signet, and thy lace, and thy staff which is in thy hand. And he gave [it] her, and went in to her; and she conceived by him.
Rekel je: »Kakšno jamstvo naj ti dam?« Rekla je: »Svoj pečat in svoje okrasne vrvice in svojo palico, ki je v tvoji roki.« To ji je dal in prišel noter vanjo in ta je spočela z njim.
19 And she arose and went away; and she laid by her veil from her, and put on the garments of her widowhood.
Vstala je ter odšla proč in poleg sebe položila svoje zagrinjalo iz sebe in si nadela obleke svojega vdovstva.
20 And Judah sent the kid of the goats by the hand of his friend the Adullamite, to receive the pledge from the woman's hand; but he found her not.
Juda je poslal kozlička po roki svojega prijatelja Adulámca, da prejme svoje jamstvo iz roke ženske, toda ta je ni našel.
21 And he asked the men of her place, saying, Where is the prostitute that was at Enaim, by the way-side? And they said, There was no prostitute here.
Potem je vprašal ljudi tega kraja, rekoč: »Kje je pocestnica, ki je bila javno poleg poti?« Rekli so: »Na tem kraju ni bilo nobene pocestnice.«
22 And he returned to Judah, and said, I have not found her; and also the men of the place said, No prostitute has been here.
Vrnil se je k Judu in rekel: »Ne morem je najti in tudi ljudje tega kraja so rekli, da na tem kraju ni bilo nobene pocestnice.«
23 Then Judah said, Let her take [it] for herself, lest we be put to shame. Behold, I sent this kid, and thou hast not found her.
Juda je rekel: »Naj si ona to vzame k sebi, da ne bova osramočena. Glej, poslal sem tega kozlička, ti pa je nisi našel.«
24 And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter-in-law has committed fornication, and behold, she is also with child by fornication. And Judah said, Bring her forth, that she may be burned.
Pripetilo se je približno tri mesece kasneje, da je bilo Judu povedano, rekoč: »Tvoja snaha Tamara je igrala pocestnico in prav tako poglej, ona je z otrokom od vlačugarstva.« Juda je rekel: »Privedite jo naprej in naj bo sežgana.«
25 When she was brought forth, she sent to her father-in-law, saying, By the man to whom these [belong] am I with child; and she said, Acknowledge, I pray thee, whose are this signet, and this lace, and this staff.
Ko je bila privedena naprej, je poslala k svojemu tastu, rekoč: »Po moškem, čigar [last] je to, sem z otrokom.« Rekla je: »Razpoznaj, prosim te, čigav je ta pečat, okrasne vrvice in palica.«
26 And Judah acknowledged [them], and said, She is more righteous than I, because I have not given her to Shelah my son. And he knew her again no more.
Juda jim je priznal in rekel: »Bolj pravična je bila kakor jaz, zato ker je nisem dal svojemu sinu Šeláju.« In ni je več ponovno spoznal.
27 And it came to pass at the time of her delivery, that behold, twins were in her womb.
Pripetilo pa se je v času njenih porodnih muk, glej, da sta bila v njeni maternici dvojčka.
28 And it came to pass when she brought forth, that one stretched out [his] hand, and the midwife took it and bound round his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This came out first.
Ko je bila v porodnih mukah se je pripetilo, da je eden iztegnil svojo roko in babica je prijela ter na njegovo roko privezala škrlatno nit, rekoč: »Ta je prvi prišel ven.«
29 And it came to pass as he drew back his hand, that behold, his brother came out; and she said, How hast thou broken forth! on thee be the breach! And they called his name Pherez.
Pripetilo pa se je, ko je svojo roko potegnil nazaj, glej, je prišel ven njegov brat. Rekla je: »Kako si izbruhnil? Ta prodor bodi na tebi.« Zato je bilo njegovo ime imenovano Parec.
30 And afterwards came out his brother, round whose hand was the scarlet thread; and they called his name Zerah.
Nato je prišel ven njegov brat, ki je imel na svoji roki škrlatno nit in njegovo ime je bilo imenovano Zerah.
