Genesis 2
1 And the heavens and the earth and all their host were finished.
௧இந்தவிதமாக வானமும் பூமியும், அவைகளில் இருக்கிற அனைத்தயும் உண்டாக்கப்பட்டு முடிந்தன. பூமியையும் வானத்தையும் உண்டாக்கின நாளிலே, வானமும் பூமியும் உண்டாக்கப்பட்ட வரலாறு இவைகளே.
2 And God had finished on the seventh day his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
௨தேவன் தாம் செய்த தம்முடைய செயலை ஏழாம் நாளிலே நிறைவேற்றி, தாம் உருவாக்கும் தம்முடைய செயல்களையெல்லாம் முடித்தபின்பு, ஏழாம் நாளிலே ஓய்ந்திருந்தார்.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it, because that on it he rested from all his work which God had created in making it.
௩தேவன் தாம் உருவாக்கும் தம்முடைய செயல்களையெல்லாம் முடித்தபின்பு அதிலே ஓய்ந்திருந்ததினால், தேவன் ஏழாம் நாளை ஆசீர்வதித்து, அதைப் பரிசுத்தமாக்கினார்.
4 These are the histories of the heavens and the earth, when they were created, in the day that Jehovah Elohim made earth and heavens,
௪தேவனாகிய யெகோவா பூமியையும் வானத்தையும் உண்டாக்கின நாளிலே, வானமும் பூமியும் உண்டாக்கப்பட்ட வரலாறு இவைகளே.
5 and every shrub of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew; for Jehovah Elohim had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground.
௫நிலத்தினுடைய அனைத்துவிதச் செடிகளும் பூமியின்மேல் இன்னும் உண்டாகவில்லை, நிலத்தினுடைய அனைத்துவிதத் தாவரங்களும் இன்னும் முளைக்கவில்லை; ஏனென்றால் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா பூமியின்மேல் இன்னும் மழையைப் பெய்யச்செய்யவில்லை; நிலத்தைப் பண்படுத்த மனிதனும் இல்லை.
6 But a mist went up from the earth, and moistened the whole surface of the ground.
௬அப்பொழுது பூமியிலிருந்து நீரூற்று எழும்பி, பூமியையெல்லாம் நனைத்தது.
7 And Jehovah Elohim formed Man, dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and Man became a living soul.
௭தேவனாகிய யெகோவா மனிதனை பூமியின் மண்ணினாலே உருவாக்கி, உயிரடையச்செய்யும் சுவாசத்தை அவனுடைய மூக்கின் துவாரத்திலே ஊதினார், மனிதன் உயிருள்ள ஆத்துமாவானான்.
8 And Jehovah Elohim planted a garden in Eden eastward, and there put Man whom he had formed.
௮தேவனாகிய யெகோவா கிழக்கே ஏதேன் என்னும் ஒரு தோட்டத்தை உண்டாக்கி, தாம் உருவாக்கின மனிதனை அதிலே வைத்தார்.
9 And out of the ground Jehovah Elohim made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; and the tree of life, in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
௯தேவனாகிய யெகோவா, பார்வைக்கு அழகும் சாப்பிடுவதற்கு ஏற்ற அனைத்துவித மரங்களையும், தோட்டத்தின் நடுவிலே வாழ்வளிக்கும் மரத்தையும், நன்மை தீமை அறியத்தக்க ஆற்றலைக் கொடுக்கும் மரத்தையும் பூமியிலிருந்து முளைக்கச்செய்தார்.
10 And a river went out of Eden, to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became four main streams.
௧0தோட்டத்திற்குத் தண்ணீர் பாய ஏதேனிலிருந்து ஒரு நதி ஓடி, அங்கேயிருந்து பிரிந்து நான்கு பெரிய ஆறுகளானது.
11 The name of the one is Pison: that is it which surrounds the whole land of Havilah, where the gold is.
௧௧முதலாம் ஆற்றுக்கு பைசோன் என்று பெயர், அது ஆவிலா தேசம் முழுவதையும் சுற்றி ஓடும்; அந்த இடத்திலே பொன் உண்டு.
12 And the gold of that land is good; bdellium and the onyx stone are there.
௧௨அந்த தேசத்தின் பொன் நல்லது; அந்த இடத்திலே நறுமணப்பிசினும், விலையேறிய முத்துகளும் உண்டு.
13 And the name of the second river is Gihon: that is it which surrounds the whole land of Cush.
௧௩ஆற்றுக்கு கீகோன் என்று பெயர், அது எத்தியோப்பியா தேசம் முழுவதையும் சுற்றி ஓடும்.
14 And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which flows forward toward Asshur. And the fourth river, that is Euphrates.
௧௪மூன்றாம் ஆற்றுக்கு இதெக்கேல் என்று பெயர், அது அசீரியாவுக்குக் கிழக்கே ஓடும்; நான்காம் ஆற்றுக்கு ஐப்பிராத்து என்று பெயர்.
15 And Jehovah Elohim took Man, and put him into the garden of Eden, to till it and to guard it.
௧௫தேவனாகிய யெகோவா மனிதனை ஏதேன் தோட்டத்திற்கு அழைத்துவந்து, அதைப் பண்படுத்தவும் காக்கவும் வைத்தார்.
16 And Jehovah Elohim commanded Man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou shalt freely eat;
௧௬தேவனாகிய யெகோவா மனிதனை நோக்கி: “நீ தோட்டத்திலுள்ள அனைத்து மரங்களின் பழங்களையும் தாராளமாக சாப்பிடலாம்.
17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the day that thou eatest of it thou shalt certainly die.
௧௭ஆனாலும் நன்மை தீமை அறியத்தக்க மரத்தின் பழத்தை சாப்பிடவேண்டாம்; அதை நீ சாப்பிடும் நாளில் சாகவே சாவாய்” என்று கட்டளையிட்டார்.
18 And Jehovah Elohim said, It is not good that Man should be alone; I will make him a helpmate, his like.
௧௮பின்பு, தேவனாகிய யெகோவா: “மனிதன் தனிமையாக இருப்பது நல்லதல்ல, ஏற்ற துணையை அவனுக்கு உண்டாக்குவேன்” என்றார்.
19 And out of the ground Jehovah Elohim had formed every animal of the field and all fowl of the heavens, and brought [them] to Man, to see what he would call them; and whatever Man called each living soul, that was its name.
௧௯தேவனாகிய யெகோவா பூமியிலுள்ள அனைத்துவித மிருகங்களையும், ஆகாயத்தின் அனைத்துவிதப் பறவைகளையும் மண்ணினாலே உருவாக்கி, ஆதாம் அவைகளுக்கு என்ன பெயரிடுவான் என்று பார்க்கும்படி அவைகளை அவனிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்; அந்தந்த உயிரினத்திற்கு ஆதாம் என்னென்ன பெயரிட்டானோ அதுவே அதற்குப் பெயரானது.
20 And Man gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the heavens, and to every beast of the field; but as for Adam, he found no helpmate, his like.
௨0அப்படியே ஆதாம் அனைத்துவித நாட்டுமிருகங்களுக்கும், ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகளுக்கும், அனைத்துவிதக் காட்டுமிருகங்களுக்கும் பெயரிட்டான்; ஆதாமுக்கோ ஏற்ற துணை இன்னும் காணப்படவில்லை.
21 And Jehovah Elohim caused a deep sleep to fall upon Man; and he slept. And he took one of his ribs and closed up flesh in its stead.
௨௧அப்பொழுது தேவனாகிய யெகோவா ஆதாமுக்கு ஆழ்ந்த உறக்கத்தை வரச்செய்தார், அவன் ஆழ்ந்து உறங்கினான்; அவர் அவனுடைய விலா எலும்புகளில் ஒன்றை எடுத்து, அந்த இடத்தைச் சதையினால் அடைத்தார்.
22 And Jehovah Elohim built the rib that he had taken from Man into a woman; and brought her to Man.
௨௨தேவனாகிய யெகோவா தாம் மனிதனிலிருந்து எடுத்த விலா எலும்பை மனுஷியாக உருவாக்கி, அவளை மனிதனிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்.
23 And Man said, This time it is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh: this shall be called Woman, because this was taken out of a man.
௨௩அப்பொழுது ஆதாம்: “இவள் என் எலும்பில் எலும்பும், என் மாம்சத்தில் மாம்சமுமாக இருக்கிறாள்; இவள் மனிதனிலிருந்து எடுக்கப்பட்டதால் மனுஷி எனப்படுவாள்” என்றான்.
24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.
௨௪இதன் காரணமாக மனிதன் தன் தகப்பனையும் தன் தாயையும் விட்டு, தன் மனைவியோடு இணைந்திருப்பான்; அவர்கள் ஒரே மாம்சமாக இருப்பார்கள்.
25 And they were both naked, Man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
௨௫ஆதாமும் அவனுடைய மனைவியும் நிர்வாணிகளாக இருந்தும், வெட்கப்படாதிருந்தார்கள்.
