Genesis 19
1 And the two angels came to Sodom at even. And Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. And Lot saw them, and rose up to meet them; and he bowed down, the face toward the ground,
൧ആ രണ്ടു ദൂതന്മാർ വൈകുന്നേരത്ത് സൊദോമിൽ എത്തി; ലോത്ത് സൊദോംപട്ടണവാതിൽക്കൽ ഇരിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു; ലോത്ത് അവരെ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് എതിരേറ്റുചെന്ന് നിലംവരെ കുനിഞ്ഞ് നമസ്കരിച്ചു:
2 and he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and lodge, and wash your feet; and ye shall rise up early, and go on your way. And they said, No; but we will pass the night in the open place.
൨“യജമാനന്മാരേ, അടിയന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ വന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ കാലുകളെ കഴുകി രാത്രി വിശ്രമിക്കുവിൻ; രാവിലെ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് നിങ്ങളുടെ വഴിക്ക് പോകയുമാകാം” എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞതിന്: “അല്ല, ഞങ്ങൾ തെരുവിൽ തന്നെ രാപാർക്കും” എന്ന് അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
3 And he urged them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house. And he made them a repast, and baked unleavened cakes; and they ate.
൩അവൻ ഏറ്റവും നിർബന്ധിച്ചു; അപ്പോൾ അവർ അവന്റെ അടുക്കൽ തിരിഞ്ഞു അവന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ ചെന്നു; അവൻ അവർക്ക് വിരുന്നൊരുക്കി, പുളിപ്പില്ലാത്ത അപ്പം ചുട്ടു; അവർ ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു.
4 Before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, from the youngest to the oldest — all the people from every quarter.
൪അവർ ഉറങ്ങുവാൻ പോകുന്നതിനുമുമ്പേ സൊദോംപട്ടണത്തിലെ പുരുഷന്മാർ സകല ഭാഗത്തുനിന്നും വൃദ്ധന്മാരും യൗവനക്കാരും എല്ലാവരും വന്നു വീടു വളഞ്ഞു.
5 And they called to Lot, and said to him, Where are the men that have come in to thee to-night? bring them out to us that we may know them.
൫അവർ ലോത്തിനെ വിളിച്ചു: “ഈ രാത്രി നിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്ന പുരുഷന്മാർ എവിടെ? ഞങ്ങൾ അവരുമായി സുഖഭോഗത്തിലേർപ്പെടേണ്ടതിന് അവരെ ഞങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവരൂ” എന്ന് അവനോട് പറഞ്ഞു.
6 And Lot went out to them to the entrance, and shut the door after him,
൬ലോത്ത് വാതിലിലൂടെ അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ പുറത്തു ചെന്നു, കതക് അടച്ച്:
7 and said, I pray you, my brethren, do not wickedly!
൭“സഹോദരന്മാരേ, ഇങ്ങനെ ദോഷം ചെയ്യരുതേ.
8 Behold now, I have two daughters who have not known a man: let me now bring them out to you; and do to them as is good in your sight: only, to these men do nothing; for therefore have they come under the shadow of my roof.
൮നോക്കൂ, പുരുഷസംസർഗം ഉണ്ടായിട്ടില്ലാത്ത കന്യകമാരായ രണ്ട് പുത്രിമാർ എനിക്കുണ്ട്; അവരെ ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കൽ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുവരാം; നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇഷ്ടംപോലെ അവരോട് ചെയ്തുകൊൾവിൻ; ഈ പുരുഷന്മാരോടു മാത്രം ഒന്നും ചെയ്യരുതേ; ഇതിനായിട്ടല്ലോ അവർ എന്റെ വീടിന്റെ നിഴലിൽ കീഴിൽ വന്നത് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
9 And they said, Back there! And they said [again], This one came to sojourn, and he must be a judge? Now we will deal worse with thee than with them. And they pressed hard on the man — on Lot; and drew near to break the door.
൯“മാറിനിൽക്ക” എന്ന് അവർ പറഞ്ഞു. “ഇവനൊരുത്തൻ പരദേശിയായി വന്നു പാർക്കുന്നു; ന്യായംവിധിക്കുവാനും ഭാവിക്കുന്നു. ഇപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങൾ അവരോട് ഭാവിച്ചതിലധികം നിന്നോട് ദോഷം ചെയ്യും” എന്നും അവർ പറഞ്ഞ് ലോത്തിനെ ശക്തിയായി തള്ളി വാതിൽ പൊളിക്കുവാൻ അടുത്തു.
10 And the men stretched out their hand, and brought Lot into the house to them, and shut the door.
൧൦അപ്പോൾ ആ ദൈവ പുരുഷന്മാർ കൈ പുറത്തേയ്ക്ക് നീട്ടി ലോത്തിനെ അവരുടെ അടുക്കൽ അകത്ത് കയറ്റി വാതിൽ അടച്ചു,
11 And they smote the men that were at the entrance of the house with blindness, from the smallest to the greatest; and they wearied themselves to find the entrance.
൧൧വാതിൽക്കൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന പുരുഷന്മാർക്ക് ആബാലവൃദ്ധം അന്ധത പിടിപ്പിച്ചു. അതുകൊണ്ട് അവർ വാതിൽ തപ്പിനടന്നു വിഷമിച്ചു.
12 And the men said to Lot, Whom hast thou here besides? a son-in-law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and all whom thou hast in the city — bring [them] out of the place.
൧൨ആ ദൈവ പുരുഷന്മാർ ലോത്തിനോട്: “ഇവിടെ നിനക്ക് മറ്റു വല്ലവരുമുണ്ടോ? മരുമക്കളോ പുത്രന്മാരോ പുത്രിമാരോ ഇങ്ങനെ പട്ടണത്തിൽ നിനക്കുള്ളവരെയൊക്കെയും ഈ സ്ഥലത്തുനിന്ന് കൊണ്ടുപൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളുക;
13 For we are going to destroy this place, because the cry of them is great before Jehovah, and Jehovah has sent us to destroy it.
൧൩ഇവർക്കെതിരെയുള്ള ഭയാനകമായ കുറ്റം യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ വലുതായിത്തീർന്നിരിക്കകൊണ്ട് ഞങ്ങൾ ഈ സ്ഥലത്തെ നശിപ്പിക്കും. അതിനെ നശിപ്പിക്കുവാൻ യഹോവ ഞങ്ങളെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
14 And Lot went out, and spoke to his sons-in-law, who had married his daughters, and said, Up, go out of this place, for Jehovah will destroy the city. But he was as if he jested, in the sight of his sons-in-law.
൧൪അങ്ങനെ ലോത്ത് ചെന്ന് തന്റെ പുത്രിമാരെ വിവാഹം ചെയ്യുവാനുള്ള മരുമക്കളോടു സംസാരിച്ചു: “നിങ്ങൾ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് ഈ സ്ഥലം വിട്ട് പുറപ്പെടുവിൻ; യഹോവ ഈ പട്ടണം നശിപ്പിക്കും” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാൽ അവൻ തമാശ പറയുന്നു എന്ന് അവന്റെ മരുമക്കൾക്കു തോന്നി.
15 And as the dawn arose, the angels urged Lot, saying, Up, take thy wife and thy two daughters who are present, lest thou perish in the iniquity of the city.
൧൫ഉഷസ്സായപ്പോൾ ദൂതന്മാർ ലോത്തിനെ തിടുക്കപ്പെടുത്തി: “ഈ പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ ശിക്ഷയിൽ ദഹിക്കാതിരിക്കുവാൻ എഴുന്നേറ്റു നിന്റെ ഭാര്യയെയും ഇവിടെയുള്ള നിന്റെ രണ്ട് പുത്രിമാരെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ട് പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
16 And as he lingered, the men laid hold on his hand, and on the hand of his wife, and on the hand of his two daughters, Jehovah being merciful to him; and they led him out, and set him without the city.
൧൬അവൻ താമസിച്ചപ്പോൾ, യഹോവ അവനോട് കരുണ ചെയ്യുകയാൽ, ആ ദൈവ പുരുഷന്മാർ അവനെയും ഭാര്യയെയും രണ്ട് പുത്രിമാരെയും കൈക്കു പിടിച്ചു പട്ടണത്തിന്റെ പുറത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി ആക്കി.
17 And it came to pass when they had brought them outside, that he said, Escape for thy life: look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain: escape to the mountain, lest thou perish.
൧൭അവരെ പുറത്തുകൊണ്ടുവന്ന ശേഷം അവൻ: “ജീവരക്ഷയ്ക്കായി ഓടിപ്പോവുക; പുറകോട്ട് നോക്കരുത്; ഈ പ്രദേശത്തെങ്ങും നിൽക്കയുമരുത്; നിനക്ക് നാശം ഭവിക്കാതിരിക്കുവാൻ പർവ്വതത്തിലേക്ക് ഓടിപ്പോക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
18 And Lot said to them, Not [so], I pray thee, Lord;
൧൮ലോത്ത് അവരോട് പറഞ്ഞത്: “അങ്ങനെയല്ല കർത്താവേ;
19 behold now, thy servant has found favour in thine eyes, and thou hast magnified thy goodness, which thou hast shewn to me in preserving my soul alive; but I cannot escape to the mountain, lest calamity lay hold on me, that I die.
൧൯അങ്ങയ്ക്ക് അടിയനോടു കൃപ തോന്നിയല്ലോ; എന്റെ ജീവനെ രക്ഷിക്കുവാൻ എനിക്ക് വലിയ കൃപ അങ്ങ് കാണിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; പർവ്വതത്തിൽ ഓടി എത്തുവാൻ എനിക്ക് കഴിയുകയില്ല; പക്ഷേ എനിക്ക് ദോഷം തട്ടി മരണം സംഭവിക്കും.
20 Behold now, this city is near to flee to, and it is small: I pray thee, let me escape thither — is it not small? — and my soul shall live.
൨൦ഇതാ, ഈ പട്ടണം ഓടിരക്ഷപ്പെടുവാൻ കഴിയുന്നത്ര സമീപമാകുന്നു; അത് ചെറിയതുമാകുന്നു; ഞാൻ അവിടേക്ക് ഓടിപ്പോകട്ടെ. അത് ചെറിയതല്ലോ; എന്നാൽ എനിക്ക് ജീവരക്ഷ ഉണ്ടാകും”.
21 And he said to him, Behold, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow the city of which thou hast spoken.
൨൧ആ ദൈവപുരുഷൻ അവനോട്: “ഇതാ, ഇക്കാര്യത്തിലും ഞാൻ നിന്നെ കടാക്ഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നീ പറഞ്ഞ ഈ പട്ടണം ഞാൻ നശിപ്പിച്ചുകളയുകയില്ല.
22 Haste, escape thither; for I cannot do anything until thou art come there. Therefore the name of the city is called Zoar.
൨൨വേഗമാകട്ടെ! അവിടേക്ക് ഓടിപ്പോക; നീ അവിടെ എത്തുന്നതുവരെയും എനിക്ക് ഒന്നും ചെയ്യുവാൻ കഴിയുകയില്ല” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതുകൊണ്ട് ആ പട്ടണത്തിന് സോവർ എന്നു പേരായി.
23 The sun rose upon the earth when Lot came to Zoar.
൨൩ലോത്ത് സോവരിൽ കടന്നപ്പോൾ സൂര്യൻ ഉദിച്ചിരുന്നു.
24 And Jehovah rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from Jehovah out of heaven,
൨൪യഹോവ സൊദോമിന്റെയും ഗൊമോറായുടെയും മേൽ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽനിന്ന്, ആകാശത്തു നിന്നുതന്നെ, ഗന്ധകവും തീയും വർഷിപ്പിച്ചു.
25 and overthrew those cities, and all the plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and what grew upon the ground.
൨൫ആ പട്ടണങ്ങൾക്കും പ്രദേശത്തിനു മുഴുവനും ആ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലെ സകലനിവാസികൾക്കും നിലത്തെ സസ്യങ്ങൾക്കും ഉന്മൂലനാശം വരുത്തി.
26 And his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
൨൬ലോത്തിന്റെ ഭാര്യ അവന്റെ പിന്നിൽനിന്നു തിരിഞ്ഞുനോക്കി ഉപ്പുതൂണായിത്തീർന്നു.
27 And Abraham rose early in the morning [and went] to the place where he had stood before Jehovah;
൨൭അബ്രാഹാം അതിരാവിലെ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് താൻ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ നിന്നിരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തുചെന്നു,
28 and he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and lo, a smoke went up from the land as the smoke of a furnace.
൨൮സൊദോമിനും ഗൊമോറായ്ക്കും ആ പ്രദേശത്തിലെ സകലദിക്കിനും നേരെ നോക്കി, അതാ, ദേശത്തിലെ പുക തീച്ചൂളയിലെ പുകപോലെ പൊങ്ങുന്നത് കണ്ടു.
29 And it came to pass when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in which Lot dwelt.
൨൯എന്നാൽ ആ പ്രദേശത്തിലെ പട്ടണങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിക്കുമ്പോൾ ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിനെ ഓർത്തു. ലോത്ത് പാർത്ത പട്ടണങ്ങൾക്ക് ഉന്മൂലനാശം വരുത്തിയപ്പോൾ ലോത്തിനെ ആ ഉന്മൂലനാശത്തിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിച്ചു.
30 And Lot went up from Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar. And he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.
൩൦അനന്തരം ലോത്ത് സോവർ വിട്ടുപോയി പർവ്വതത്തിൽ ചെന്നു പാർത്തു; അവന്റെ രണ്ട് പുത്രിമാരും അവനോടുകൂടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; സോവരിൽ വസിക്കുവാൻ അവൻ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു; അവനും അവന്റെ രണ്ട് പുത്രിമാരും ഒരു ഗുഹയിൽ താമസിച്ചു.
31 And the first-born said to the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the land to come in to us after the manner of all the earth:
൩൧അങ്ങനെയിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ മൂത്തവൾ ഇളയവളോട്: “നമ്മുടെ അപ്പൻ വൃദ്ധനായിരിക്കുന്നു; ഭൂമിയിൽ എല്ലായിടവും ഉള്ള നടപ്പുപോലെ നമ്മുടെ അടുക്കൽ വരുവാൻ ഭൂമിയിൽ ഒരു പുരുഷനും ഇല്ല.
32 come, let us give our father wine to drink, and let us lie with him, that we may preserve seed alive of our father.
൩൨വരിക; നമ്മുടെ അപ്പന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യം നമ്മൾ സംരക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന് അവനെ വീഞ്ഞുകുടിപ്പിച്ച് അവനോടുകൂടെ നമുക്ക് ശയിക്കാം” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
33 And they gave their father wine to drink that night. And the first-born went in, and lay with her father, and he did not know of her lying down, nor of her rising.
൩൩അങ്ങനെ അന്ന് രാത്രി അവർ അപ്പനെ വീഞ്ഞു കുടിപ്പിച്ചു; മൂത്തവൾ അകത്ത് ചെന്ന് അപ്പനോടുകൂടെ ശയിച്ചു; അവൾ ശയിച്ചതും എഴുന്നേറ്റതും അവൻ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.
34 And it came to pass on the next day that the first-born said to the younger, Lo, I lay last night with my father: let us give him wine to drink to-night also, and go thou in, lie with him, that we may preserve seed alive of our father.
൩൪പിറ്റെന്നാൾ മൂത്തവൾ ഇളയവളോട്: “ഇന്നലെ രാത്രി ഞാൻ അപ്പനോടുകൂടെ ശയിച്ചു; നാം അവനെ ഇന്ന് രാത്രിയും വീഞ്ഞു കുടിപ്പിക്കുക; നമ്മുടെ അപ്പന്റെ വംശപാരമ്പര്യം നമ്മൾ സംരക്ഷിക്കേണ്ടതിന് നീയും അകത്തുചെന്ന് അവനോടുകൂടെ ശയിക്കുക” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
35 And they gave their father wine to drink that night also. And the younger arose, and lay with him; and he did not know of her lying down, nor of her rising.
൩൫അങ്ങനെ അന്ന് രാത്രിയും അവർ അപ്പനെ വീഞ്ഞു കുടിപ്പിച്ചു; ഇളയവൾ ചെന്ന് അവനോടുകൂടെ ശയിച്ചു; അവൾ ശയിച്ചതും എഴുന്നേറ്റതും അവൻ അറിഞ്ഞില്ല.
36 And both the daughters of Lot were with child by their father.
൩൬ഇങ്ങനെ ലോത്തിന്റെ രണ്ട് പുത്രിമാരും സ്വന്തം പിതാവിൽനിന്നും ഗർഭംധരിച്ചു.
37 And the first-born bore a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites to this day.
൩൭മൂത്തവൾ ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു അവന് മോവാബ് എന്നു പേരിട്ടു; അവൻ ഇന്നുള്ള മോവാബ്യർക്ക് പിതാവ്.
38 And the younger, she also bore a son, and called his name Ben-ammi; the same is the father of the children of Ammon to this day.
൩൮ഇളയവളും ഒരു മകനെ പ്രസവിച്ചു; അവന് ബെൻ-അമ്മീ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു; അവൻ ഇന്നുള്ള അമ്മോന്യർക്ക് പിതാവ്.
