Ezekiel 38
1 And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
La parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée en ces termes:
2 Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him,
"Fils de l’homme, dirige ta face vers Gog au pays de Magog, prince suzerain de Méhec et Toubal, et prophétise contre lui.
3 and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal.
Tu diras: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Me voici contre toi, Gog, prince suzerain de Méchec et de Toubal!
4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them thoroughly equipped, a great assemblage with targets and shields, all of them handling swords:
Je vais t’entraîner, je mettrai des crochets dans tes mâchoires et je te ferai sortir, toi et toute ton armée, chevaux et cavaliers, tous vêtus magnifiquement, en foule énorme, avec rondaches et boucliers, tous armés de glaives.
5 Persia, Cush, and Phut with them, all of them with shield and helmet;
La Perse, l’Ethiopie et Peut seront avec eux, tous munis de boucliers et de casques.
6 Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah from the uttermost north, and all his bands; — many peoples with thee.
Gomer et toutes ses légions, la maison de Togarma, l’extrême Nord et toutes ses légions des peuples nombreux seront tes auxiliaires.
7 Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself thou, and all thine assemblage that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them.
Tiens-toi prêt, prends tes dispositions, toi et toutes ces masses qui se sont groupées près de toi, monte la garde pour elles.
8 After many days shalt thou be visited; at the end of years thou shalt come into the land brought back from the sword [and] gathered out of many peoples, upon the mountains of Israel which have been a perpetual waste: but it is brought forth out from the peoples, and they shall all of them be dwelling in safety.
Après de longs jours, tu seras mandé, à l’expiration de nombreuses années tu envahiras un pays affranchi du glaive, recueilli d’entre des peuples nombreux, les montagnes d’Israël, qui étaient sans cesse en ruine; oui, il a été retiré des nations et tous ils habitent en pleine sécurité.
9 And thou shalt ascend, thou shalt come like a storm, thou shalt be like a cloud to cover the land, thou, and all thy bands, and many peoples with thee.
Tu monteras, tu viendras comme l’ouragan, tu seras comme la nuée pour couvrir la terre, toi et toutes tes légions et des peuples nombreux avec toi."
10 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: It shall even come to pass in that day that things shall come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought;
Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: "II arrivera, ce jour-là, que des projets germeront dans ton esprit et que tu méditeras un mauvais dessein.
11 and thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will come to them that are in quiet, that dwell in safety, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
Tu diras: "Je veux marcher contre ce pays aux villes ouvertes, surprendre des gens paisibles qui vivent en toute sécurité, habitant tous sans remparts, n’ayant ni verrous ni portes,"
12 to seize a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thy hand against the waste places that are [now] inhabited, and against a people gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the middle of the land.
pour faire du butin et te livrer au pillage, pour porter la main sur des ruines repeuplées et sur un peuple rassemblé d’entre les nations, en possession de biens et de richesses, et qui habite le nombril de la terre.
13 Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to seize a spoil? hast thou gathered thine assemblage to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take cattle and goods, to seize a great spoil?
Cheba et Dedân et les marchands de Tarsis et tous ses lionceaux te diront: Est-ce pour faire du butin que tu es venu, est-ce pour piller que tu as rassemblé tes troupes, pour emporter l’argent et l’or, faire main-basse sur les biens et les richesses pour faire un grand butin!
14 Therefore prophesy, son of man, and say unto Gog, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: In that day when my people Israel dwelleth in safety, shalt thou not know [it]?
Eh bien! Prophétise, fils de l’homme, et dis à Gog: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Assurément, en ce jour, alors que mon peuple Israël habite en sécurité, tu t’en apercevras!
15 And thou shalt come from thy place out of the uttermost north, thou and many peoples with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great assemblage and a mighty army.
Tu viendras de ta résidence, du fond du Nord, toi et de nombreux peuples avec toi, tous montés sur des chevaux une grande multitude et une armée puissante.
16 And thou shalt come up against my people Israel as a cloud to cover the land — it shall be at the end of days — and I will bring thee against my land, that the nations may know me, when I shall be hallowed in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.
Et tu monteras contre mon peuple Israël, telle la nuée, en couvrant la terre; ceci se passera dans des temps reculés. Je te ferai venir contre mon pays, afin que les nations apprennent à me connaître, quand je me sanctifierai par toi à leurs yeux, ô Gog!"
17 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Art thou not he of whom I have spoken in old time through my servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied in those days, for [many] years, that I would bring thee against them?
Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: "N’Est-ce pas toi dont j’ai parlé aux jours antiques par l’organe de mes serviteurs, les prophètes d’Israël, qui l’ont prédit en ces temps-là, durant des années, que je t’amènerais contre eux?"
18 And it shall come to pass in that day, in the day when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord Jehovah, [that] my fury shall come up in my face;
Il arrivera, en ce jour, le jour où Gog pénétrera sur le sol d’Israël, dit le Seigneur Dieu, que ma colère me montera à la tête.
19 for in my jealousy, in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Verily in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel;
Et, dans mon ardeur, dans le feu de mon indignation, je le déclare: En vérité, ce jour-là, il y aura une commotion violente sur le sol d’Israël!
20 so that the fish of the sea, and the fowl of the heavens, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things which creep upon the earth, and all mankind that are upon the face of the earth shall shake at my presence; and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.
Sous mes coups trembleront les poissons de la mer et les oiseaux du ciel et tous les animaux des champs, et tous les êtres qui rampent sur le sol, et tous les hommes qui vivent a la surface de la terre; les montagnes seront renversées, les coteaux étagés s’affaisseront et toute muraille tombera à terre.
21 And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord Jehovah: every man's sword shall be against his brother.
Contre lui, je ferai appel, sur toutes mes montagnes, au glaive, dit le Seigneur Dieu; eux-mêmes, ils tireront le glaive l’un contre l’autre.
22 And I will enter into judgment with him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many peoples that are with him, overflowing rain and great hailstones, fire and brimstone.
Je ferai justice de lui par la peste et par le sang; je lancerai des pluies torrentielles, des grêlons du feu et du soufre sur lui et sur ses légions et sur les peuples nombreux qui l’accompagnent.
23 And I will magnify myself, and sanctify myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I [am] Jehovah.
Ainsi je me montrerai grand et saint, je me manifesterai aux yeux de nations nombreuses, et elles reconnaîtront que je suis l’Eternel."
