Ezekiel 35
1 And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying,
Et la parole du Seigneur me fut adressée, disant:
2 Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,
Fils d’un homme, tourne ton visage contre le mont de Séir; prophétise sur lui, et tu lui diras:
3 and say unto it, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I am against thee, mount Seir, and I will stretch out my hand upon thee, and I will make thee a desolation and an astonishment.
Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Voilà que je viens vers toi, mont de Séir, et j’étendrai ma main sur toi, et je te rendrai désolé et désert.
4 I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be a desolation: and thou shalt know that I [am] Jehovah.
Tes villes, je les détruirai et tu seras désert; et tu sauras que je suis le Seigneur.
5 Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast given over the children of Israel to the power of the sword, in the time of their calamity, in the time of the iniquity of the end;
Parce que tu as été un ennemi éternel, et que tu as renfermé les fils d’Israël dans la main du glaive au temps de leur affliction au temps de leur iniquité extrême;
6 therefore, [as] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will certainly appoint thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee; since thou hast not hated blood, blood shall pursue thee.
À cause de cela, je vis, moi, dit le Seigneur Dieu; je te livrerai au sang, et le sang te poursuivra; et puisque tu as haï le sang, le sang te poursuivra.
7 And I will make mount Seir a desolation and an astonishment, and cut off from it him that passeth out and him that returneth;
Et je rendrai le mont de Séir désolé et désert; et j’en retrancherai l’allant et le revenant.
8 and I will fill his mountains with his slain. In thy hills, and in thy valleys, and in all thy water-courses shall they fall that are slain with the sword.
Et je remplirai ses montagnes de ses morts; sur tes collines, dans tes vallées, et le long de tes torrents, les tués sous le glaive tomberont.
9 I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not be inhabited: and ye shall know that I [am] Jehovah.
Je te réduirai en solitudes éternelles; et tes cités ne seront pas habitées; et vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur Dieu.
10 Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it, whereas Jehovah was there:
Parce que tu as dit: Deux nations et deux terres seront à moi, et je les posséderai en héritage, quoique le Seigneur y fût;
11 therefore, [as] I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, I will even do according to thine anger and according to thine envy, as thou hast done out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I shall judge thee.
À cause de cela, je vis, moi, dit le Seigneur Dieu, j’agirai selon ta colère et selon ta jalousie que tu as exercées, parce que tu les haïssais; et je me ferai connaître par eux, lorsque je t’aurai jugé.
12 And thou shalt know that I Jehovah have heard all thy reproaches, which thou hast uttered against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to devour.
Tu sauras que moi, le Seigneur, j’ai entendu toutes les paroles outrageantes que tu as proférées contre les montagnes d’Israël, en disant: Ce sont des déserts; ils nous ont été donnés pour être dévorés.
13 And ye have magnified yourselves against me with your mouth, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard [them].
Et vous vous êtes élevés contre moi par votre bouche, et vous avez prononcé dédaigneusement contre moi vos paroles; moi j’ai entendu.
14 Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee a desolation.
Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu: Lorsque toute la terre se réjouira, je te réduirai en une solitude.
15 As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolated, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be a desolation, O mount Seir, and all Edom, the whole of it: and they shall know that I [am] Jehovah.
Comme tu t’es réjoui sur l’héritage de la maison d’Israël, de ce qu’elle avait été dévastée, ainsi je te ferai; tu seras dévasté, mont de Séir, et toute l’Idumée; et ils sauront que je suis le Seigneur Dieu.
