Ephesians 5
1 Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved children,
ⲁ̅ϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲛⲓ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛϣⲏⲣⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲉⲛⲣⲓⲧ.
2 and walk in love, even as the Christ loved us, and delivered himself up for us, an offering and sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling savour.
ⲃ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲙⲟϣⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲁⲅⲁⲡⲏ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲧⲁ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲉⲣⲁⲅⲁⲡⲁⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲧⲏⲓϥ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩ⳿ⲡⲣⲟⲥⲫⲟⲣⲁ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩϣⲟⲩϣⲱⲟⲩϣⲓ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ ⲉⲩ⳿ⲥⲑⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛ⳿ⲥⲑⲟⲓⲛⲟⲩϥⲓ.
3 But fornication and all uncleanness or unbridled lust, let it not be even named among you, as it becomes saints;
ⲅ̅ϯⲡⲟⲣⲛⲓⲁ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲉⲙ ϭⲱϧⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲓⲉ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲣⲉϥϭⲓ⳿ⲛϫⲟⲛⲥ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲛ⳿ⲑⲣⲟⲩϫⲉ ⲡⲉⲥⲣⲁⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲥⲉⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲁ ⳿ⲛⲛⲓⲁⲅⲓⲟⲥ.
4 and filthiness and foolish talking, or jesting, which are not convenient; but rather thanksgiving.
ⲇ̅ⲛⲓⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲉⲧϣⲟⲩⲓⲧ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲛⲓⲥⲁϫⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲉⲧⲥⲟϫ ⲓⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲉⲩ⳿ⲧⲣⲁⲡⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲉⲧⲥⲉⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲁ ⳿ⲛⲁⲓⲧⲟⲩ ⲁⲛ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲙⲁⲗⲗⲟⲛ ⲟⲩϣⲉⲡ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ.
5 For this ye are [well] informed of, knowing that no fornicator, or unclean person, or person of unbridled lust, who is an idolater, has inheritance in the kingdom of the Christ and God.
ⲉ̅ⲫⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛ⳿ⲉⲙⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲥⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ϫⲉ ⲡⲟⲣⲛⲟⲥ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲓⲉ ⲁⲕⲁⲑⲁⲣⲧⲟⲥ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲓⲉ ⲣⲉϥϭⲓ⳿ⲛϫⲟⲛⲥ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲧⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲧϣⲁⲙϣⲉ ⳿ⲓⲇⲱⲗⲟⲛ ⲧⲉ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛⲧⲉϥ ⳿ⲕⲗⲏ ⲣⲟⲛⲟⲙⲓⲁ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩ ϧⲉⲛ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲟⲩⲣⲟ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲫϯ.
6 Let no one deceive you with vain words, for on account of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
ⲋ̅⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲛ⳿ⲑⲣⲉ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⲉⲣϩⲁⲗ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲁⲛⲥⲁϫⲓ ⲉⲩϣⲟⲩⲓⲧ ⲉⲑⲃⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ϥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϫⲉ ⲡⲓϫⲱⲛⲧ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲫϯ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲛⲓϣⲏⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ϯⲙⲉⲧⲁⲧⲑⲱⲧ ⳿ⲛϩⲏⲧ.
7 Be not ye therefore fellow-partakers with them;
ⲍ̅⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϣⲫⲏⲣ ⳿ⲉⲣⲱⲟⲩ.
8 for ye were once darkness, but now light in [the] Lord; walk as children of light,
ⲏ̅ⲛⲁⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲛⲭⲁⲕⲓ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲥⲏⲟⲩ ϯⲛⲟⲩ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ ϧⲉⲛ Ⲡ⳪ ⲙⲟϣⲓ ϩⲱⲥ ϩⲁⲛϣⲏⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ.
9 (for the fruit of the light [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth, )
ⲑ̅⳿ⲡⲟⲩⲧⲁϩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ ⲁϥ⳿ⲛ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲉⲑⲛⲁⲛⲉϥ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲇⲓⲕⲉⲟⲥⲩⲛⲏ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲑⲙⲏⲓ.
10 proving what is agreeable to the Lord;
ⲓ̅ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣⲇⲟⲕⲓⲙⲁⲍⲓⲛ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲡⲉⲑⲣⲁⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲙⲠ⳪.
11 and do not have fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather also reprove [them],
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣⲉⲣ⳿ϣⲫⲏⲣ ⳿ⲉⲛⲓ⳿ϩⲃⲏⲟⲩⲓ ⳿ⲛⲁⲧⲟⲩⲧⲁϩ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⳿ⲡⲭⲁⲕⲓ ⲙⲁⲗⲗⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲥⲟϩⲓ.
12 for the things that are done by them in secret it is shameful even to say.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ⲛⲉⲧⲟⲩⲣⲁ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⲅⲁⲣ ⳿ⲛⲭⲱⲡ ⲟⲩϣⲓⲡⲓ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲉⲉⲣ⳿ⲡⲕⲉϫⲟⲧⲟⲩ.
13 But all things having their true character exposed by the light are made manifest; for that which makes everything manifest is light.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉϣⲁⲣⲉ ⲡⲓⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ ⲥⲁϩⲱⲟⲩ ϣⲁⲩⲟⲩⲱⲛϩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲱⲃ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⲉⲑⲟⲩⲟⲛϩ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲟⲩⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ ⲡⲉ.
14 Wherefore he says, Wake up, [thou] that sleepest, and arise up from among the dead, and the Christ shall shine upon thee.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲉⲑⲃⲉⲫⲁⲓ ⳿ϥϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ϫⲉ ⲧⲱⲛⲕ ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲉⲛⲕⲟⲧ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲟϩⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲁⲧⲕ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲏⲉⲑⲙⲱⲟⲩⲧ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲣⲉ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲉⲣⲟⲩⲱⲓⲛⲓ ⳿ⲉⲣⲟⲕ.
15 See therefore how ye walk carefully, not as unwise but as wise,
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅⳿ⲁⲛⲁⲩ ⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲕⲣⲓⲃⲱⲥ ⲛⲁ⳿ⲥⲛⲏⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲙⲟϣⲓ ⳿ⲛⲁϣ ⳿ⲛⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛⲁⲧ⳿ⲥⲃⲱ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛⲥⲁⲃⲉⲩ.
16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϣⲱⲡ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲥⲏⲟⲩ ϫⲉ ⲛⲓ⳿ⲉϩⲟⲟⲩ ⲥⲉϩⲱⲟⲩ.
17 For this reason be not foolish, but understanding what [is] the will of the Lord.
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲉⲑⲃⲉⲫⲁⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲁⲧϩⲏ ⲧ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲕⲁϯ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲫⲟⲩⲱϣ ⳿ⲙⲫϯ.
18 And be not drunk with wine, in which is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit,
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲣⲑⲓϧⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲏⲣⲡ ⲫⲏⲉⲧⲉ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲙⲉⲧⲁⲧⲟⲩϫⲁⲓ ϣⲟⲡ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧϥ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϫⲏⲕ ⳿ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲡ͞ⲛⲁ̅.
19 speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and chanting with your heart to the Lord;
ⲓ̅ⲑ̅ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲥⲁϫⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⲑⲏⲛⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛϩⲁⲛⲯⲁⲗⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲉⲙ ϩⲁⲛ⳿ⲥⲙⲟⲩ ⲛⲉⲙ ϩⲁⲛϩⲱⲇⲏ ⳿ⲙⲡ͞ⲛⲁ̅ⲧⲓⲕⲟⲛ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϩⲱⲥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣⲯⲁⲗⲓⲛ ⳿ⲙⲠ⳪ ϧⲉⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛϩⲏⲧ.
20 giving thanks at all times for all things to him [who is] God and [the] Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
ⲕ̅ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϣⲉⲡ⳿ϩⲙⲟⲧ ⳿ⲛⲥⲏⲟⲩ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲟⲛ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲫⲣⲁⲛ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲛ⳪ Ⲓⲏ̅ⲥ̅ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲫϯ ⳿ⲫⲓⲱⲧ.
21 submitting yourselves to one another in [the] fear of Christ.
ⲕ̅ⲁ̅ⲉⲣⲉⲧⲉⲛϭⲛⲟ ⳿ⲛϫⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛⲉⲣⲏⲟⲩ ϧⲉⲛ ϯϩⲟϯ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅.
22 Wives, [submit yourselves] to your own husbands, as to the Lord,
ⲕ̅ⲃ̅ⲛⲓϩⲓ⳿ⲟⲙⲓ ⲙⲁⲣⲟⲩϭⲛⲉϫⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲩϩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲙⲠ⳪.
23 for a husband is head of the wife, as also the Christ [is] head of the assembly. He [is] Saviour of the body.
ⲕ̅ⲅ̅ϫⲉ ⲡⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⳿ⲧ⳿ⲁⲫⲉ ⳿ⲛϯ⳿ⲥϩⲓⲙⲓ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲙⲠⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲉⲧⲉ ⳿ⲧ⳿ⲁⲫⲉ ⳿ⲛϯⲉⲕ⳿ⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ ⲧⲉ ⳿ⲛⲑⲟϥ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲡⲥⲱⲧⲏⲣ ⳿ⲙⲡⲓⲥⲱⲙⲁ.
24 But even as the assembly is subjected to the Christ, so also wives to their own husbands in everything.
ⲕ̅ⲇ̅ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲉϯⲉⲕ⳿ⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ ϭⲛⲟ ⳿ⲛϫⲱⲥ ⳿ⲙⲠⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ϩⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲓϩⲓ⳿ⲟⲙⲓ ⲙⲁⲣⲟⲩϭ ⲛⲉϫⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲩϩⲁⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ϩⲱⲃ ⲛⲓⲃⲉⲛ.
25 Husbands, love your own wives, even as the Christ also loved the assembly, and has delivered himself up for it,
ⲕ̅ⲉ̅ⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲁⲣⲓⲁⲅⲁⲡⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲉⲛϩⲓ⳿ⲟⲙⲓ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⲉⲧⲁ Ⲡⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲉⲣⲁⲅⲁⲡⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛϯⲉⲕ⳿ⲕⲗⲏ ⲥⲓⲁ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲁϥⲧⲏⲓϥ ⳿ⲉ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ⳿ⲉϫⲱⲥ.
26 in order that he might sanctify it, purifying [it] by the washing of water by [the] word,
ⲕ̅ⲋ̅ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥⲧⲟⲩⲃⲟⲥ ⳿ⲉⲁϥⲧⲟⲩⲃⲟⲥ ϧⲉⲛ ⲡⲓⲱⲙⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲓⲙⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲛ⳿ϩⲣⲏⲓ ϧⲉⲛ ⳿ⲡⲥⲁϫⲓ.
27 that he might present the assembly to himself glorious, having no spot, or wrinkle, or any of such things; but that it might be holy and blameless.
ⲕ̅ⲍ̅ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥⲧⲁϩⲉ ϯⲉⲕ⳿ⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ ⲛⲁϥ ⳿ⲉⲣⲁⲧⲥ ⲉⲥϧⲉⲛ ⲟⲩⲱⲟⲩ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲛ ⲁϭⲛⲓ ⳿ⲛϧⲏⲧⲥ ⲓⲉ ⲑⲱⲗⲉⲃ ⲓⲉ ⳿ⲛⲭⲁⲓ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲛⲁⲓ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲥϣⲱⲡⲓ ⲉⲥⲟⲩⲁⲃ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉⲥⲟⲓ ⳿ⲛⲁⲧⲑⲱⲗⲉⲃ.
28 So ought men also to love their own wives as their own bodies: he that loves his own wife loves himself.
ⲕ̅ⲏ̅ⲡⲁⲓⲣⲏϯ ϩⲱⲟⲩ ⲛⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲥⲉⲙ⳿ⲡϣⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲟⲩⲉⲣⲁⲅⲁⲡⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲩϩⲓⲟⲙⲓ ⳿ⲙ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ⳿ⲛⲛⲟⲩⲥⲱⲙⲁ ⲫⲏ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲉⲧⲉⲣⲁⲅⲁⲡⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥ⳿ⲥϩⲓⲙⲓ ⲁϥⲉⲣⲁⲅⲁⲡⲁⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟϥ ⳿ⲙⲙⲁⲩⲁⲧϥ.
29 For no one has ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, even as also the Christ the assembly:
ⲕ̅ⲑ̅⳿ⲙⲡⲉ ⳿ϩⲗⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙⲉⲥⲧⲉ ⲧⲉϥⲥⲁⲣⲝ ⲉⲛⲉϩ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϣⲁϥϣⲁⲛⲟⲩϣⲥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ϣⲁϥⲉⲣⲑⲁⲗⲡⲓⲛ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ⳿ⲫⲣⲏϯ ϩⲱϥ ⳿ⲙⲠⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲉⲧⲁϥ⳿ⲓⲣⲓ ⳿ⲛϯⲉⲕ⳿ⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ.
30 for we are members of his body; [we are of his flesh, and of his bones.]
ⲗ̅ϫⲉ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ϩⲁⲛⲙⲉⲗⲟⲥ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲉϥⲥⲱⲙⲁ.
31 Because of this a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be united to his wife, and the two shall be one flesh.
ⲗ̅ⲁ̅ⲉⲑⲃⲉⲫⲁⲓ ⲉⲣⲉ ⲡⲓⲣⲱⲙⲓ ⲭⲁ ⲡⲉϥⲓⲱⲧ ⲛⲉⲙ ⲧⲉϥⲙⲁⲩ ⳿ⲛⲥⲱϥ ⲟⲩⲟϩ ⲉϥ⳿ⲉⲧⲟⲙϥ ⲉⲧⲉϥ⳿ⲥϩⲓⲙⲓ ⲉⲩ⳿ⲉϣⲱⲡⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲃ̅ ⲉⲩⲥⲁⲣⲝ ⳿ⲛⲟⲩⲱⲧ.
32 This mystery is great, but I speak as to Christ, and as to the assembly.
ⲗ̅ⲃ̅ⲡⲁⲓⲙⲩⲥⲧⲏⲣⲓⲟⲛ ⲟⲩⲛⲓϣϯ ⲡⲉ ⳿ⲁⲛⲟⲕ ⲇⲉ ϯϫⲱ ⳿ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⳿ⲉⲠⲭ̅ⲥ̅ ⲛⲉⲙ ϯⲉⲕ⳿ⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ.
33 But ye also, every one of you, let each so love his own wife as himself; but as to the wife [I speak] that she may fear the husband.
ⲗ̅ⲅ̅⳿ⲡⲗⲏⲛ ⳿ⲛⲑⲱⲧⲉⲛ ϩⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⳿ⲫⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲫⲟⲩⲁⲓ ⳿ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲉⲛ ⲙⲁⲣⲉϥⲉⲣⲁⲅⲁⲡⲁⲛ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉϥ⳿ⲥϩⲓⲙⲓ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉϥⲣⲏϯ ϯ⳿ⲥϩⲓⲙⲓ ⲇⲉ ϩⲱⲥ ϩⲓⲛⲁ ⳿ⲛⲧⲉⲥⲉⲣϩⲟϯ ϧⲁ⳿ⲧϩⲏ ⳿ⲙⲡⲉⲥϩⲁⲓ
