Ephesians 4
1 I, the prisoner in [the] Lord, exhort you therefore to walk worthy of the calling wherewith ye have been called,
Så förmanar jag nu eder, jag fången i Herranom, att I vandren såsom tillbörligit är, i den kallelse, der I uti kallade ären;
2 with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, bearing with one another in love;
Med alla ödmjukhet och saktmodighet; med tålamod, unddragandes den ene den andra i kärlekenom;
3 using diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the uniting bond of peace.
Vinnläggande eder att hålla Andans enhet genom fridsens band;
4 [There is] one body and one Spirit, as ye have been also called in one hope of your calling;
En kropp, och en Ande, såsom I ock kallade ären uti ett edars kallelses hopp;
5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
En Herre, en tro, ett dop, en Gud, och allas våra Fader;
6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in us all.
Hvilken är öfver eder alla, genom eder alla, och i eder alla.
7 But to each one of us has been given grace according to the measure of the gift of the Christ.
Men hvarjom och enom af oss är gifven nåd, efter Christi gåfvos mått.
8 Wherefore he says, Having ascended up on high, he has led captivity captive, and has given gifts to men.
Derföre säger han: Han är uppstigen i höjden, och hafver fört fängelset fånget, och hafver gifvit menniskomen gåfvor.
9 But that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth?
Men det han uppfaren är, hvad är det annat än han for först härned, uti de nedersta jordenes rum?
10 He that descended is the same who has also ascended up above all the heavens, that he might fill all things;
Den der nederfor, han är ock den der uppfor öfver alla himlar, på det han skulle all ting uppfylla.
11 and he has given some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some shepherds and teachers,
Han hafver ock somliga satt till Apostlar, somliga till Propheter, somliga till Evangelister, somliga till herdar och lärare;
12 for the perfecting of the saints; with a view to [the] work of [the] ministry, with a view to the edifying of the body of Christ;
Att de helige skola skickelige vara till ämbetsens verk, genom hvilket Christi lekamen må uppbyggd varda:
13 until we all arrive at the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, at [the] full-grown man, at [the] measure of the stature of the fulness of the Christ;
Tilldess att vi alle kommom till ena tro, och Guds Sons kunskap, och vardom en fullkommen man, den der är uti Christi fullbordiga ålders mått;
14 in order that we may be no longer babes, tossed and carried about by every wind of that teaching [which is] in the sleight of men, in unprincipled cunning with a view to systematized error;
På det vi icke mer skolom vara barn, och låta oss beveka och omföras af allahanda lärdomsväder, genom menniskors skalkhet och illfundighet, med hvilka de falla till, att de måga bedraga oss.
15 but, holding the truth in love, we may grow up to him in all things, who is the head, the Christ:
Men varom rättsinnige i kärlekenom, och växom till i all stycke i honom, som hufvudet är, Christus;
16 from whom the whole body, fitted together, and connected by every joint of supply, according to [the] working in [its] measure of each one part, works for itself the increase of the body to its self-building up in love.
Af hvilkom hele kroppen tillhopafogas, och en lem hänger intill den andra genom all ledamöten, der den ene tjenar dem andra, efter det verk som hvar lem hafver i sitt mått, och gör att kroppen växer sig sjelf till förbättring, genom kärleken.
17 This I say therefore, and testify in [the] Lord, that ye should no longer walk as [the rest of] the nations walk in [the] vanity of their mind,
Så säger jag nu, och betygar det i Herranom, att I icke mer vandren såsom de andre Hedningar vandra, i deras sinnes fåfängelighet;
18 being darkened in understanding, estranged from the life of God by reason of the ignorance which is in them, by reason of the hardness of their hearts,
Hvilkas förstånd förmörkradt är, och de bortkomne ifrå det lif som af Gudi är, genom den fåvitsko som i dem är, och genom deras hjertas blindhet;
19 who having cast off all feeling, have given themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greedy unsatisfied lust.
Hvilke, sedan de vordo förstockade, gåfvo de sig sjelfva uti otukt, till att bedrifva all orenlighet, samt med girighet.
20 But ye have not thus learnt the Christ,
Men I hafven icke så lärt Christum;
21 if ye have heard him and been instructed in him according as [the] truth is in Jesus;
Om I annars honom hört hafven, och uti honom lärde ären, huru ett rättsinnigt väsende är i Jesu.
22 [namely] your having put off according to the former conversation the old man which corrupts itself according to the deceitful lusts;
Så lägger nu bort ifrån eder den gamla menniskan, der I förra med umgingen, hvilken genom lustar i villfarelse sig förderfvar;
23 and being renewed in the spirit of your mind;
Och förnyer eder i edar sinnes anda;
24 and [your] having put on the new man, which according to God is created in truthful righteousness and holiness.
Och ikläder eder den nya menniskona, den efter Gud skapad är, i sannskyldiga rättfärdighet och helighet.
25 Wherefore, having put off falsehood, speak truth every one with his neighbour, because we are members one of another.
Derföre, lägger bort lögnen, och taler sanningen, hvar och en med sin nästa; efter vi ärom inbördes lemmar.
26 Be angry, and do not sin; let not the sun set upon your wrath,
Vredgens och synder icke; låter icke solena gå ned öfver edra vrede.
27 neither give room for the devil.
Gifver ock icke lastarenom rum.
28 Let the stealer steal no more, but rather let him toil, working what is honest with [his] hands, that he may have to distribute to him that has need.
Den der stulit hafver, han stjäle icke mer; utan heldre arbete med sina händer det godt är; på det han något skall hafva dela med den som nödtorftig är.
29 Let no corrupt word go out of your mouth, but if [there be] any good one for needful edification, that it may give grace to those that hear [it].
Intet ohöfviskt tal gånge utaf edar mun; utan det nyttigt är till förbättring, der det behöfves; att det må dem, som det höra, till tacka vara.
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which ye have been sealed for [the] day of redemption.
Och bedröfver icke Guds Helga Anda, der I med beseglade ären till förlossningenes dag.
31 Let all bitterness, and heat of passion, and wrath, and clamour, and injurious language, be removed from you, with all malice;
All bitterhet och grymhet, och vrede, och rop, och hädelse vare långt ifrån eder, samt med alla ondsko.
32 and be to one another kind, compassionate, forgiving one another, so as God also in Christ has forgiven you.
Men varer inbördes till hvarannan vänlige, godhjertige; och förlåter den ene dem andra, såsom ock Gud genom Christum hafver förlåtit eder.
