Ephesians 4
1 I, the prisoner in [the] Lord, exhort you therefore to walk worthy of the calling wherewith ye have been called,
Então, eu, este prisioneiro no Senhor, os incentivo para que vivam de acordo com os princípios para os quais vocês foram chamados.
2 with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, bearing with one another in love;
Não se orgulhem tanto de si mesmos e sejam gentis e pacientes, sempre demonstrando tolerância e amor uns aos outros.
3 using diligence to keep the unity of the Spirit in the uniting bond of peace.
Façam todos os esforços para continuarem, por meio da paz que une vocês, na união trazida pelo Espírito.
4 [There is] one body and one Spirit, as ye have been also called in one hope of your calling;
Pois há um só corpo e um só Espírito, assim como uma só esperança para a qual Deus os chamou.
5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;
O Senhor é um só, nossa fé nele é uma só e só há um batismo.
6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in us all.
Há somente um Deus, que é o Pai de todos nós. Ele é o Senhor de todos, realiza por meio de todos e está em todos.
7 But to each one of us has been given grace according to the measure of the gift of the Christ.
E cada um de nós recebeu a graça, dada de acordo com o dom generoso de Cristo.
8 Wherefore he says, Having ascended up on high, he has led captivity captive, and has given gifts to men.
Como está escrito nas Sagradas Escrituras: “Quando ele subiu ao céu, levou junto muitos prisioneiros e deu dons para as pessoas.”
9 But that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended into the lower parts of the earth?
Com relação a isso: essa passagem diz que ele subiu, mas significa que ele também desceu até aos lugares mais baixos da terra, ou seja, ao mundo dos mortos.
10 He that descended is the same who has also ascended up above all the heavens, that he might fill all things;
Aquele que desceu é o mesmo que também subiu ao mais alto do céu, para que, assim, ele pudesse fazer com que todo o universo ficasse completo.
11 and he has given some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some shepherds and teachers,
Os dons que ele deu foram para que alguns possam ser apóstolos, outros profetas, evangelistas, pastores e mestres.
12 for the perfecting of the saints; with a view to [the] work of [the] ministry, with a view to the edifying of the body of Christ;
O propósito de tudo isso é preparar o povo de Deus para o trabalho de ajudar os outros, fazendo com que o corpo de Cristo possa crescer.
13 until we all arrive at the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, at [the] full-grown man, at [the] measure of the stature of the fulness of the Christ;
Nós cresceremos juntos, até que todos se tornem apenas um na fé e no conhecimento do Filho de Deus. E é assim que nos desenvolveremos completamente, alcançando a maturidade completa em Cristo.
14 in order that we may be no longer babes, tossed and carried about by every wind of that teaching [which is] in the sleight of men, in unprincipled cunning with a view to systematized error;
Nós não devemos ser mais como criancinhas, levados de um lado para outro por qualquer brisa passageira de doutrina, enganados por artimanhas humanas, levados a errar por pessoas astutas em seus esquemas enganadores.
15 but, holding the truth in love, we may grow up to him in all things, who is the head, the Christ:
Em vez disso, devemos falar a verdade com amor, para que possamos crescer em tudo, até alcançar a Cristo, que é a cabeça.
16 from whom the whole body, fitted together, and connected by every joint of supply, according to [the] working in [its] measure of each one part, works for itself the increase of the body to its self-building up in love.
É por causa dele que todo o corpo funciona e as juntas se mantêm unidas, assim como cada parte individual faz o que é destinada a fazer, permitindo que todo o corpo cresça e se desenvolva no amor.
17 This I say therefore, and testify in [the] Lord, that ye should no longer walk as [the rest of] the nations walk in [the] vanity of their mind,
Por isso, eu lhes digo e, na verdade, insisto sobre isso no Senhor: vocês não deveriam continuar vivendo como os pagãos vivem, com seus pensamento sem valor.
18 being darkened in understanding, estranged from the life of God by reason of the ignorance which is in them, by reason of the hardness of their hearts,
Com as suas mentes mergulhadas nas trevas, eles nada entendem. E eles não têm parte na vida que Deus dá, por serem ignorantes e teimosos.
19 who having cast off all feeling, have given themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greedy unsatisfied lust.
Eles perderam a vergonha e, por isso, se entregam à sensualidade e fazem, descontroladamente, todos os tipos de indecências.
20 But ye have not thus learnt the Christ,
Mas, não foi isso que vocês aprenderam sobre Cristo!
21 if ye have heard him and been instructed in him according as [the] truth is in Jesus;
Por acaso, vocês não ouviram sobre ele? Não lhes ensinaram a respeito dele? Vocês não aprenderam a verdade que está nele?
22 [namely] your having put off according to the former conversation the old man which corrupts itself according to the deceitful lusts;
Então, livrem-se dessa velha natureza, que destrói a vida de vocês por meio de desejos enganosos.
23 and being renewed in the spirit of your mind;
Deixem-se renascer para uma vida espiritual e mentalmente diferente
24 and [your] having put on the new man, which according to God is created in truthful righteousness and holiness.
e assumam a nova natureza que Deus criou, para que vocês se tornem como ele, justos e santos, na verdade.
25 Wherefore, having put off falsehood, speak truth every one with his neighbour, because we are members one of another.
Então, rejeitem as mentiras e digam sempre a verdade uns aos outros, pois nós pertencemos uns aos outros.
26 Be angry, and do not sin; let not the sun set upon your wrath,
Não pequem por estarem furiosos, não fiquem o dia todo com raiva,
27 neither give room for the devil.
e não deem ao diabo qualquer oportunidade para que sejam tentados.
28 Let the stealer steal no more, but rather let him toil, working what is honest with [his] hands, that he may have to distribute to him that has need.
Quem furtava que não furte mais, porém trabalhe de forma honesta e produtiva com as próprias mãos, para que tenham algo para dar a quem precisa.
29 Let no corrupt word go out of your mouth, but if [there be] any good one for needful edification, that it may give grace to those that hear [it].
Não falem palavrões. Digam apenas palavras que encorajam as pessoas, conforme a necessidade, para que o que elas ouvirem faça bem a elas.
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with which ye have been sealed for [the] day of redemption.
Não entristeçam o Espírito Santo de Deus, que os marcou para mostrar que vocês pertencem a ele até o dia da salvação.
31 Let all bitterness, and heat of passion, and wrath, and clamour, and injurious language, be removed from you, with all malice;
Livrem-se de todo tipo de amargura, ódio, raiva, ofensas, insultos e de todas as formas de maldade.
32 and be to one another kind, compassionate, forgiving one another, so as God also in Christ has forgiven you.
Sejam gentis e tenham compaixão uns pelos outros, perdoando-se uns aos outros, da mesma maneira que Deus os perdoou em Cristo.
