< Ecclesiastes 4 >
1 And I returned and saw all the oppressions that are done under the sun: and behold, the tears of the oppressed, and they had no comforter; and on the side of their oppressors was power, and they had no comforter.
Mo sì tún wò ó, mo sì rí gbogbo ìnilára tí ó ń ṣẹlẹ̀ lábẹ́ oòrùn, mo rí ẹkún àwọn tí ara ń ni, wọn kò sì ní olùtùnú kankan, agbára wà ní ìkápá àwọn tí ó ń ni wọ́n lára, wọn kò sì ní olùtùnú kankan.
2 Then I praised the dead who are already dead more than the living who are yet alive;
Mo jowú àwọn tí wọ́n ti kú tí wọ́n sì ti lọ, ó sàn fún wọn ju àwọn tí wọ́n sì wà láààyè lọ.
3 and more fortunate than both is he who hath not yet been, who hath not seen the evil work that is done under the sun.
Nítòótọ́, ẹni tí kò tí ì sí sàn ju àwọn méjèèjì lọ: ẹni tí kò tí ì rí iṣẹ́ búburú tí ó ń lọ ní abẹ́ oòrùn.
4 And I saw all labour, and all success of work, that it is man's jealousy of his neighbour. This also is vanity and pursuit of the wind.
Mo sì tún mọ̀ pẹ̀lú, ìdí tí ènìyàn fi ń ṣiṣẹ́ tagbára tagbára láti ṣe àṣeyọrí, nítorí pé wọn ń jowú àwọn aládùúgbò wọn ni. Ṣùgbọ́n, asán ni, ó dàbí ẹni ń gbìyànjú àti mú afẹ́fẹ́.
5 The fool foldeth his hands together, and eateth his own flesh.
Aṣiwèrè ká ọwọ́ rẹ̀ kò ó sì ba tara rẹ̀ jẹ́.
6 Better is a handful with quietness, than both hands full with labour and pursuit of the wind.
Oúnjẹ ẹ̀kúnwọ́ kan pẹ̀lú ìdákẹ́ jẹ́ẹ́jẹ́ sàn ju ẹ̀kúnwọ́ méjì pẹ̀lú wàhálà, àti gbígba ìyànjú àti lé afẹ́fẹ́ lọ.
7 And I returned and saw vanity under the sun.
Lẹ́ẹ̀kan sí i, mo tún rí ohun asán kan lábẹ́ oòrùn.
8 There is one [alone] and without a second; also he hath neither son nor brother: yet is there no end of all his labour, neither is his eye satisfied with riches, and [he saith not], For whom then am I labouring, and depriving my soul of good? This also is vanity and a grievous occupation.
Ọkùnrin kan ṣoṣo dá wà; kò ní ọmọkùnrin kankan tàbí ẹbí. Kò sí òpin nínú làálàá rẹ̀ gbogbo, síbẹ̀, ọrọ̀ kò tẹ́ ojú rẹ̀ lọ́rùn. Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kò sì wí pé, “Nítorí ta ni èmí ṣe ń ṣe làálàá, àti wí pé, èétiṣe tí mo fi ń fi ìgbádùn du ara mi?” Eléyìí náà asán ni, iṣẹ́ òsì!
9 Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
Ẹni méjì sàn ju ẹnìkan, nítorí wọ́n ní èrè rere fún làálàá wọn.
10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him that is alone when he falleth, and who hath not another to lift him up!
Tí ọ̀kan bá ṣubú lulẹ̀, ọ̀rẹ́ rẹ̀ le è ràn án lọ́wọ́ kí ó fà á sókè, ṣùgbọ́n ìyọnu ni fún ọkùnrin náà tí ó ṣubú tí kò sì ní ẹni tí ó le è ràn án lọ́wọ́!
11 Again, if two lie together, then they have warmth; but how can one alone be warm?
Àti pẹ̀lú pé, bí ẹni méjì bá sùn pọ̀, wọn yóò móoru. Ṣùgbọ́n báwo ni ẹnìkan ṣe le è dá nìkan móoru?
12 And if a [man] overpower the one, the two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Bí ó tilẹ̀ jẹ́ pé, a le è kojú ogun ẹnìkan, àwọn méjì le è gbìjà ara wọn, ìkọ́ okùn mẹ́ta kì í dùn ún yára fà já.
13 Better is a poor but wise youth than an old and foolish king, who knoweth no more how to be admonished.
Òtòṣì ìpẹ́ẹ̀rẹ̀ tí ó ṣe ọlọ́gbọ́n, ó sàn ju arúgbó àti aṣiwèrè ọba lọ tí kò mọ bí yóò ti ṣe gba ìmọ̀ràn.
14 For out of the prison-house he came forth to reign, although he was born poor in his kingdom.
Nítorí pé láti inú túbú ni ó ti jáde láti jẹ ọba, bí a tilẹ̀ bí i ní tálákà ní ìjọba rẹ̀.
15 I saw all the living that walk under the sun, with the child, the second, that should stand up in his stead.
Mo rí gbogbo alààyè tí ń rìn lábẹ́ oòrùn, pẹ̀lú ìpẹ́ẹ̀rẹ̀ kejì tí yóò gba ipò ọba yìí.
16 [There is] no end of all the people, of all that stood before them; those however that come after shall not rejoice in him. Surely this also is vanity and a striving after the wind.
Gbogbo àwọn tí ó wà níwájú wọn kò sì lópin, ọ̀gọ̀ọ̀rọ̀ àwọn ènìyàn ní ó jẹ ọba lé lórí, ẹni tí ó wà ní ipò yìí kò dùn mọ́ àwọn tí ó tẹ̀lé wọn nínú. Asán ni eléyìí pẹ̀lú jẹ́, ó dàbí ẹni ń gbìyànjú àti mú afẹ́fẹ́ ni.
