< Deuteronomy 14 >
1 Ye are sons of Jehovah your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for a dead person.
“Ko e fānau ʻakimoutolu ʻa Sihova ko homou ʻOtua: ʻoua naʻa mou tafaʻi ʻakimoutolu, pe fafai homou foʻi laʻē koeʻuhi ko e pekia.
2 For thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God, and thee hath Jehovah chosen for a people of possession unto himself, out of all the peoples that are upon the face of the earth.
He ko e kakai māʻoniʻoni koe kia Sihova ko ho ʻOtua, pea kuo fili koe ʻe Sihova ke hoko ko e kakai ʻofeina kiate ia, ʻo lahi hake ʻi he ngaahi puleʻanga kotoa pē ʻaia ʻoku ʻi he funga ʻo māmani.
3 Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.
“ʻOua naʻa ke kai ha meʻa fakalielia ʻe taha.
4 These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat;
Ko eni ʻae fanga manu ke mou kai: ko e pulu, mo e sipi, pea mo e kosi.
5 the hart, and the gazelle, and the stag, and the wild goat, and the dishon and the oryx, and the wild sheep.
Ko e haʻate, mo e ʻanitelope, mo e tia mo e kosi kai vao, mo e tisone, mo e pulu ʻoe vao, mo e semela.
6 And every beast that hath cloven hoofs, and the feet quite split open into double hoofs, [and] which cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that ye shall eat.
Pea mo e manu kotoa pē ʻoku mavaeua ʻae ʻaofivaʻe, mo vahevahe ke ua hono pesipesi, mo lamu ʻangaua ʻene kai ʻi he fanga manu, ko ia ke mou kai.
7 Only these ye shall not eat of those that chew the cud, or of those with hoofs cloven and split open: the camel, and the hare, and the rock-badger; for they chew the cud, but have not cloven hoofs — they shall be unclean unto you;
Ka ko ia ʻi ai ʻoku lamu ʻangaua ʻene kai, pea mo ia ʻoku mavaeua ʻae vaʻe; ʻo hangē ko e kāmeli, mo e hea, mo e lāpisi: he ʻoku nau lamu ʻangaua ʻenau kai, ka ʻoku ʻikai mavaeua honau ʻaofivaʻe: ko ia ia ʻoku taʻemaʻa kiate kimoutolu.
8 and the swine, for it hath cloven hoofs, yet cheweth not the cud — it shall be unclean unto you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch.
Pea ko e puaka, ʻoku vahevahe hono pesipesi, ka ʻoku ʻikai te ne lamu ʻangaua ʻene kai, ʻoku taʻemaʻa ia kiate kimoutolu: ʻoua naʻa mou kai honau kakano, pe ala ki honau sino mate.
9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales shall ye eat;
“Ko eni ia ʻi he meʻa moʻui kotoa pē ʻoku ʻi he vai te mou kai: ko ia kotoa pē ʻoku kaponga mo ʻuno te mou kai:
10 but whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye shall not eat: it shall be unclean unto you.
Pea ko ia kotoa pē ʻoku ʻikai kaponga mo ʻuno ʻoua naʻa mou kai: ʻoku taʻemaʻa ia kiate kimoutolu.
11 All clean birds shall ye eat.
“ʻI he manu maʻa kotoa pē ʻoku kapakau te mou kai.
12 But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the sea-eagle,
Ka ko kinautolu ni ʻoua naʻa mou kai: ko e ʻikale mo e ʻosifalesi mo e ʻosipale,
13 and the falcon, and the kite, and the black kite after its kind;
Mo e kaite, mo e volita ʻi hono faʻahinga,
14 and every raven after its kind;
Mo e leveni kotoa pē ʻi hono faʻahinga,
15 and the female ostrich, and the male ostrich, and the sea-gull, and the hawk after its kind;
Mo e lulu, mo e taiseni ʻoe poʻuli, mo e kuko, mo e taiseni ʻi hono faʻahinga.
16 the owl, and the ibis and the swan,
Ko e peka, mo e lulu lahi, mo e suani,
17 and the pelican, and the carrion vulture, and the gannet,
Mo e lofa, mo e sia ʻikale, mo e komolanite,
18 and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.
Mo e sitoaki, mo e motuku ʻi hono ngaahi faʻahinga, mo e lapiuingi, mo e pekalu.
19 And every winged crawling thing shall be unclean unto you; they shall not be eaten.
Mo e ngaahi meʻa totolo kotoa pē ʻoku puna, ʻoku taʻemaʻa ia kiate kimoutolu: ʻoua naʻa kai ia.
20 All clean fowls shall ye eat.
Ka ko e ngaahi manu kapakau kotoa pē ʻoku maʻa ke mou kai.
21 Ye shall eat of no carcase; thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is within thy gates, that he may eat it, or sell it unto a foreigner; for thou art a holy people to Jehovah thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in its mother's milk.
“ʻOua naʻa mou kai ha meʻa ʻe taha ʻoku mate mahaki pe; ke ke ʻatu ia ki he muli ʻoku ʻi ho lotoʻā, koeʻuhi ke ne kai ia; pea ke fakatau ia ki he muli: he ko e kakai māʻoniʻoni koe kia Sihova ko ho ʻOtua. ʻOua naʻa ke haka ʻae ʻuhikiʻi manu ʻi he huhuʻa ʻo ʻene faʻē.
22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, the produce of the field, year by year.
Ke ke tukuhau moʻoni ʻaki hono tupu kotoa pē ʻo hoʻo tenga, ʻaia ʻoku tupu ʻi he ngoue ʻi he taʻu tuku fakaholo.
23 And thou shalt eat before Jehovah thy God, in the place which he will choose to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear Jehovah thy God continually.
Pea ke kai ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova ko ho ʻOtua, ʻi he potu ʻaia ʻe fili ʻe ia ke tuku ki ai hono huafa, hono vahe hongofulu ʻo hoʻo uite, mo hoʻo uaine, pea mo hoʻo lolo, mo e ngaahi ʻuluaki fānau ʻo hoʻo fanga manu lalahi, pea ʻi hoʻo fanga manu siʻi; koeʻuhi ke ke ʻilo ke manavahē maʻuaipē kia Sihova ko ho ʻOtua.
24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it, because the place is too far from thee, which Jehovah thy God will choose to set his name there, when Jehovah thy God blesseth thee;
Pea kapau ʻoku lōloa fau ʻae hala kiate koe, ko ia ʻoku ʻikai ai te ke faʻa fua ia ki ai; pe ʻoku mamaʻo ʻaupito meiate koe ʻae potu ʻaia ʻe fili ʻe Sihova ko ho ʻOtua ke tuku ki ai hono huafa, ʻi he hili hono tāpuakiʻi koe ʻe Sihova ko ho ʻOtua:
25 then shalt thou give it for money, and bind the money together in thy hand, and go to the place which Jehovah thy God will choose,
Te ke toki maʻu ʻaki ia ʻae paʻanga, pea ke nonoʻo ʻae paʻanga ʻi ho nima, pea ke ʻalu ki he potu ʻaia ʻe fili ʻe Sihova ko ho ʻOtua:
26 and thou shalt give the money for whatever thy soul desireth, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever thy soul asketh of thee; and thou shalt eat there before Jehovah thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thy house.
Pea ke ʻatu ʻae ngaahi paʻanga ko ia ki he meʻa kotoa pē ʻoku ke holi ki ai, ʻae fanga pulu, pe ko e sipi, pe ko e uaine, pe ko e inu mālohi, pe ko e meʻa ʻoku ke holi ki ai; pea te ke kai ai ʻi he ʻao ʻo Sihova ko ho ʻOtua, pea te ke fiefia, ʻa koe, pea mo ho kaungā nofoʻanga,
27 And thou shalt not forsake the Levite that is within thy gates; for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee.
Pea mo e Livai ʻoku ʻi ho lotoʻā ʻoua naʻa ke liʻaki ia; he ʻoku ʻikai hano vahe pe tofiʻa mo kimoutolu.
28 At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates;
“ʻI he ngataʻanga ʻo hono tolu taʻu, te ke ʻomi ʻae vahe hongofulu kotoa pē kuo tupu kiate koe ʻi he taʻu ko ia, pea te ke fokotuʻu ia ʻi ho lotoʻā:
29 and the Levite — for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee — and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou doest.
Pea ko e Livai, (koe meʻa ʻi he ʻikai hano vāhenga pe tofiʻa fakataha mo koe, ) mo e muli, mo e tamai mate, mo e uitou, ʻaia ʻoku ʻi ho ngaahi lotoʻā, ʻe haʻu ia, ʻo kai pea fiemālie; koeʻuhi ke tāpuakiʻi koe ʻe Sihova ko ho ʻOtua ʻi he ngaahi ngāue kotoa pē ʻa ho nima ʻaia ʻoku ke fai.
